TeleFutura Finishes 2011-2012 Broadcast Season on a High Note with Double Digit Growth in May Sweeps

MIAMI, FLMAY 29, 2012 – Univision Communications, the leading media company serving Hispanic America, today announced that its TeleFutura Network finished the 2011/2012 broadcast season having grown its audience in virtually all key dayparts and demographic groups during Q2 of 2012-to-date compared with Q4 of 2011. Additionally, the network finished the May sweep period with impressive year-over-year audience gains across all dayparts, including broadcast primetime. TeleFutura, along with Univision Network, saw ratings increase year-over-year during May sweeps, by 24% and 1% respectfully, while all other Spanish-language broadcast networks saw declines.

In fact, while TeleFutura has enjoyed year-over-year audience growth during the 2012 May sweep, Telemundo has seen substantial declines. For example, in primetime vs. May 2011:
· TeleFutura Total Viewers 2+ increased 25% (639,000 vs. 510,000), while Telemundo saw a 15% decline;
· TeleFutura Adults 18-49 increased 23% (363,000 vs. 294,000), while Telemundo saw a 28% drop;
· TeleFutura Adults 18-34 increased 29% (206,000 vs. 160,000), while Telemundo saw a 32% decline.
“Coming off the May sweep and our growth in the second quarter thus far compared with the fourth quarter of 2011, we are extremely proud of the TeleFutura’s performance heading into the summer,” said Luis Fernandez-Rocha, senior vice president, TelefuturaNetwork. “Our mix of movies, sports and entertainment programming provides a desirable counter to other options in Spanish-language television, and we look forward to building upon recent success across all dayparts.”
For the 2011/2012 broadcast season, TeleFutura was the No. 2 Spanish-language network, out-delivering Telemundo in Monday through Friday daytime and weekend day among key demographics including Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.
TeleFutura Network 2011/2012 Broadcast Season Highlights:
· On average, TeleFutura generated 601,000 Total Viewers 2+, 351,000 Adults 18-49 and 189,000 Adults 18-34 in the 2011/2012 broadcast season during primetime.
· Compared to Q4 2011, TeleFutura grew its audience by double-digit margins within the 2011/2012 broadcast season in virtually all key dayparts and key demographic groups such as Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.
· Regardless of language, the TeleFutura and Univision networks are the youngest broadcasters during broadcast prime in the season with an estimated median age of 36.
“El Chavo” (Mondays through Fridays, 5 p.m. – 6 p.m.):
· Attracted an average audience of 664,000 Total Viewers 2+, 353,000 Adults 18-49, and 233,000 Adults 18-34 in the 2011/2012 broadcast season.
· Immediately impacted the time period (vs. the hour’s 2011/20112 season-to-date prior to the new time) by significant margins among all key demographics, including Total Viewers 2+ (+131%), Adults 18-49 (+106%) and Adults 18-34 (+104%).
· Head-to-head in the weekday 5 p.m. hour, out-performed Telemundo’s “Al Rojo Vivo” by double-digit margins among Adults 18-34 (+25%.) and Persons 12-34 (+29%).

o Ranked as the highest-rated Liga Mexicana match for the Clausura 2012 season on all Spanish-language television among Total Viewers 2+, Adults 18-49 and Men 18-49 and the second highest among Adults 18-34 and Men 18-34.
o Drew 2.3 million Total Viewers 2+, 1.4 million Adults 18-49 and 782,000 Adults 18-34.
o Was the most-watched telecast on TeleFutura for the entire week (05/14/2012-05/20/2012) in broadcast primetime across Total Viewers 2+, Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34, Men 18-34 and Men 18-49.
o Beat every single program on Telemundo for the entire week during broadcast primetme with all key demographic groups such as Total Viewers 2+, Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34, Men 18-34 and Men 18-49.
