NEW YORK, NY – June 4, 2012 – A&E’s new scripted drama series “Longmire” set ratings records for the network with the series premiere on Sunday, June 3 at 10:00PM ET/PT, becoming the network’s most watched original series launch of all time with 4.1 million total viewers. “Longmire” launched as cable’s top new scripted drama of 2012 among total viewers and adults 25-54 with 1.4 million in the demo tuning in.

Also on Sunday night, the season three premiere of the hit original scripted drama “The Glades” attracted strong numbers as well with its return at 9:00PM ET/PT. Based on the Walt Longmire Mystery novels by best-selling author Craig Johnson, “Longmire” stars Australian actor Robert Taylor (The Matrix) as Walt Longmire, the charismatic, dedicated and unflappable sheriff of Absaroka County, Wyoming. “Longmire” also stars Katee Sackhoff (“Battlestar Gallactica”), Lou Diamond Phillips (“Numb3rs”), Bailey Chase (“Damages”), Cassidy Freeman (“Smallville”) and newcomer Adam Bartley.

In Season three of “The Glades,” Callie (Kiele Sanchez) decides to stay in Palm Glade to make it work with Jim (Matt Passmore). However, when she finds jobs in the area to be scarce, their relationship is put to the test. Meanwhile, the station gets shaken up when the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) sends Jennifer Starke (Taylor Cole), the beautiful, dynamic FDLE bureau chief, to evaluate the station’s track record as well as Detective Longworth’s unorthodox style.

“Longmire” is produced by Warner Horizon Television.  Hunt Baldwin (“The Closer,” “Trust Me”) and John Coveny (“The Closer,” “Trust Me”) wrote the project and serve as executive producers along with Greer Shephard (“The Closer,” “Nip/Tuck”) and Michael M. Robin (“The Closer,” “Nip/Tuck”).  Christopher Chulack (“Southland,” “ER”) served as director and executive producer of the pilot.

“The Glades” is produced by Fox Television Studios for A&E Network. The series executive producers are Clifton Campbell (“White Collar,” “Profiler,” “21 Jump Street”) for Innuendo Productions, Inc. and Gary Randall (“Saving Grace”) for Grand Productions, Inc. GoT must have gotten hurt by the game last night or else HBO would have had something out by now (unless they don’t usually do press releases).

I will watch this show tomorrow because Starbuck is in it.

@David: HBO isn’t much into chest-thumping press releases so the lack of release is not likely an indicator of how GoT did last night. We’ll know by tomorrow AM for sure. Edit: especially since it set series highs in viewers with 4.2 million in the premiere telecast.

Game of thrones drew 4.1 million to t’s first airing and another 910k to the encore. The finale was up 38% from last year.

Wow, great news for Longmire. I’m glad to see it doing so well. We need more TV shows that take advantage of unique settings. Good for The Glades, too.

  • Colin

Only 986000 viewers in the 18-49 demo. Maybe a 0.9. Not a great start considering Breakout Kings was axed with a solid 0.7.

  • Jase

Longmire was pretty good. Likely to add this to the list of shows to watch on Sundays.

Loved the premiere of Longmire! Great cast and really beautiful country! For those that have not visited the state, Wyoming does look like this! A&E keep this on the air.

  • V

The only problem is the show is filmed in California, so we’ll see what show looks like after pilot.

  • BoB

Had never read one of the Longmire books, and only watched it because of an ad for it that looked intriguing. Glad I did, and just hope it isn’t too adult, meaning it takes some intelligence to grasp all the nuances it presents. And the Networks wonder why their audience keeps withering away, ha ha ha.

didn’t even know it was on

  • Sooz

Longmire is shot in new Mexico

  • Mike

LOL…..did any of you read the credits?? Longmire is shot in New Mexico in the Valles Caldera area where Ron Howards ‘The Missing’ was filmed and at Greer Garson Studios in Santa Fe.

Yay, Wyoming is a beautiful state–too bad this is filmed in New Mexico! I did hear that they visited Wyoming & Montana at least Lou Diamond Phillips did & he was welcomed to our small communities

  • Ladypn

Longmire was absolutely BRILLIANT! I’m not at all surprised to learn of the premier’s rating success. The show had us hooked within the first few minutes. Can’t wait for the next episode!

  • groove365

Longmire was ok, might watch again.

  • Nana Rocks

Longmire is the most enjoyable pilot we have seen in a long time. Something we can watch!
Nice Sunday evening lineup, The Glades followed by Longmire.
Keep it up, we may like tv again.
