HBO's Game of Thrones set a series high in total viewers in last night's second season finale with a total of 4.2 million viewesrs for , besting its previous high of 3.9 million viewers. The encore drew another 910,000 viewers for a total of 5.1 million viewers on the night.
Separately, Veep saw its second most-watched episode of the season with 1.2 million viewers and Girls set series highs in its initial telecast with 1.1 million viewers.

Awesome numbers. I went for 4.5 million so I’m about 300,000 out. 4.2 million ends the season on a high and builds for next season which I think will average about 4 million an ep.
Please Cancel Girls. it really is the WORST show on TV. bring back How to Make it in America!
Not surprised. The last two eps of Games were fantastic. Looking forward to all the action next season should bring when they start A Storm of Swords.
renew Game of Thrones for 3 more seasons i want it to be official
@Person of Interest
Or two at the most. So they can make the seasons back to back after a short hiatus between each one, which would reduce the wait for new episodes from 1 year to 6 months.
I actually did not really enjoy the episode that much and thought it was a poor season finale, but I am pleased that Game of Thrones did well.
Well technically its a 10 month wait. Just to correct myself there.
Martin please hurry up with the books
@Crazy Eye Broyles (AJ)
Did they have any hints in the last episode for next season?
@Chad – Girls is far from the worst show on TV. Farrrrr from it. And yay Game of Thrones! Though filming season 3 and 4 back to back would’ve made more sense…
Awesome!!
My girlfriend was thrilled with Drogo back, even if it was for a little while. Jason Momoa was the best last year.
This is one of the best shows on TV.
Rather impressive considering it was up against both NBA Playoffs and the MTV Movie Awards.
@Chad
Girls has already been renewed for season 2, and it’s filming right now. You always have the option of changing the channel. Have you considered that?
I’m guessing the numbers won’t get too much higher from here. The most-watched True Blood S2 episode got 5.33 million; the next 2 seasons got up to 5.53 million.
Game of Thrones already is a book phenom and I don’t really see it exploding more. Of course, these season’s numbers are great as is, though about a full 18-49 point behind True Blood.
Girls is phenomenal. Lena Dunham is a great writer.
18-49 is irrelevent on HBO, as is first airing. Total subscribers watching is most important. Also, Game of Thrones is the mostpopular international HBO show and there are more international subscribers than domestic.

most people dont even know what Game of THrones is, so i say they have alot of room to grow, Alot of people dont even have HBO to watch it, like me

They don’t want to spend more time on production, so HBO given mutliple season orders wouldn’t change anything.
Also, what would be the point? Burn through the early books faster so there’s a longer wait before they can do six and seven?
@Ultima
I’m unaware of the politics surrounding the show I must admit, I was going by what people had discussed here before that the creators apparently wouldn’t mind doing more episodes.
For arguements sake, Book 3 will be 20 episodes anyway that has been confirmed, doing 1 book a year, with Books 4 and 5 already out anyway, and Book 6 near enough complete, by the time they finish adapting Book 6, Book 7 will likely be done(Which is the final book).
I don’t see anything wrong with burning through the material quickly in that regard. I just don’t agree with there just being 10 episodes a year, but thats just my opinion.
OK, spoil me, how did Drogo come back? Was it a dream sequence or something? He would be the only reason I’d tune in to see the ep.
