‘Secret Millionaire’ Opens with ABC’s Top Regular Summer Audience in the Slot since July ’08

ABC’s Repeat “AFHV” Earns Second in the 7pm Hour in Viewers and Young Adults


Surging Over its Lead-in at 8pm, ABC’s Opener of “Secret Millionaire” Pulls the Net’s Biggest Summertime Audience in the Hour with Regular Programming Since July ’08


Building Against the “Miss USA Pageant” from 9-11pm, ABC’s Season Premiere of “EM: Weight Loss Edition” Finished as the No.1 Series in its 2-Hour Slot in A18-49


Sunday Night (7:00-11:00 p.m.)

With a repeat “AFHV” leading into the season openers of “Secret Millionaire” and “EM: Weight Loss Edition,” ABC ran in a virtual tie with NBC’s all-original lineup in Adults 18-49, which included the “2012 Miss USA Pageant” (1.4/4 vs. 1.5/4 – pacing within 1-tenth of a rating point and tied in audience share).


“America’s Funniest Home Videos” (7:00-8:00 p.m.)

During the 7 o’clock hour, ABC’s repeat “America’s Funniest Home Videos” took second to CBS’ “60 Minutes” in Total Viewers (4.8 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.2/4).


“Secret Millionaire” (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

Building on its lead in at 8:00 p.m. by double digits with viewers (+17%) and young adults (+25%), ABC’s season premiere of “Secret Millionaire” (5.6 million and 1.5/5) earned second in its hour, gaining audience throughout its telecast.


  • “Secret Millionaire” produced ABC’s top summertime (Memorial Day-Labor Day) numbers with regular programming in the time period since 2008 in Total Viewers, and since 2009 in Adults 18-49 – since 7/6/08 and 8/30/09, respectively.


“EM: Weight Loss Edition” (9:00-11:00 p.m.)

From 9:00-11:00 p.m., ABC’s season opener of “EM: Weight Loss Edition” finished as the No. 1 series among Adults 18-49 (1.5/4) in its 2-hour time period.


  • From its first hour to its second hour opposite competition from the “Miss USA Pageant,” the ABC unscripted series grew by 9% in Total Viewers (4.4 million to 4.8 million) and by 14% in Adults 18-49 (1.4/4 to 1.6/4).
