TNT Launches Hit Tuesday Lineup as Rizzoli & Isles Draws 5.6 Million Viewers,
Followed by Franklin & Bash with 3.1 Million

TNT has taken Tuesdays to a new level with last night's season premieres of Rizzoli & Isles and Franklin & Bash, which welcomed millions of new viewers to the lineup. Rizzoli & Isles opened the night at 9 p.m. with 5,620,000 viewers, setting a new record as basic cable's #1 Tuesday premiere ever for an original scripted drama series. It was followed at 10 p.m. by Franklin & Bash, which brought in 3,070,000 viewers, up 12% compared to the show's launch last summer.

Among key adult demos, last night's season three premiere of Rizzoli & Isles averaged 1,537,000 adults 18-49 and 1,900,000 adults 25-54, while the season two premiere of Franklin & Bash averaged 1,089,000 adults 18-49 and 1,245,000 adults 25-54.

Both series delivered across-the-board growth for TNT when compared to the launch of last summer's Tuesday night lineup (June 14, 2011). Rizzoli & Isles outdelivered last year's 9 p.m. season premiere of Memphis Beat by 86% among viewers, 64% among adults 18-49 and 76% among adults 25-54. And Franklin & Bash beat last year's season premiere of Hawthorne at 10 p.m. by 19% among viewers, 13% among adults 18-49 and 18% among adults 25-54.

About Rizzoli & Isles
Television's smartest (and most attractive) crime-solving duo are back on the case as Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander star in the chart-busting series back for its third season. Based on characters created by best-selling crime novelist Tess Gerritsen, Rizzoli & Isles stars Harmon as Jane Rizzoli, a tough-as-nails Boston police detective, and Alexander as Maura Isles, a smart, impeccably dressed medical examiner from a privileged background. Despite being complete opposites, the two women share an offbeat chemistry and strong working relationship that lets them solve complex murder mysteries in the city of Boston. Rizzoli  & Isles also stars Lee Thompson Young, Bruce McGill, Jordan Bridges, Brian Goodman and Lorraine Bracco. The series comes to TNT from Warner Horizon Television and is executive-produced by Janet Tamaro of Hurdler Productions and Bill Haber of Ostar Productions, as well as Michael Katleman.

About Franklin & Bash
TNT’s hit buddy legal drama series is back in the courtroom for a second season. The series stars Breckin Meyer as Jared Franklin and Mark-Paul Gosselaar as Peter Bash, two young, fly-by-the-seat-of-their-pants street lawyers who caused a seismic culture clash when they joined a legendary, button-down law firm. Jared loves sticking it to authority every chance he gets. Peter, meanwhile, has a knack for connecting with judge and jury any way he can. Malcolm McDowell plays Renaissance man Stanton Infeld, the brilliant and eccentrically spontaneous patriarch of the law firm. Also starring are Reed Diamond, Dana Davis, Garcelle Beauvais, Kumail Nanjiani. Franklin & Bash is produced by Four Sycamore Productions, Left Coast Productions and FanFare Productions in association with Sony Pictures Television. Jamie Tarses, Jason Ensler, Kevin Falls and Bill Chais serve as executive producers.

Can’t wait for DALLAS next week — I hope they have great numbers especially if the show has been put together well.

  • Walt

Makes you wonder how Falling Skies will rate in 2 weeks.

  • Nick

Castle? I never see Castle on here!

  • David

Falling Skies should be big because those reruns have been good for them and it kept increasing last year.

  • Babygate

Love Rizzoli and Isles. It is my favorite summer show but can’t stand Franklin and Bash. Tried to like them but they are way over the top. To the point of being ridiculous. Much prefer USA’s ‘Suits’ which manages to have great characters, great writing and great chemistry while keeping a nice balance between comedy and drama.

  • Nick

    R&I: 33% of viewers in 25-54
    F&B: 41% of viewers in 25-54.
Wow. Considering American Idol can get only about 35% of its viewers in the target demo, this is good for TNT.

  • Melanie

I really like Rizzoli and Isles, although I missed the premiere. I usually catch the reruns on Saturday mornings. I cannot wait for Dallas next week, it is gonna be good and I love the promos!!

  • Jared

    I really loved R&I last night..great episode..great cast..great show!..

  • rob60990

Rizzoli and Isles did great without Closer lead-in. Franklin and Bash not so great but not horrid either.

  • Love in the Wild Cancelled

    DALLAS DALLAS DALLAS! CAN’T WAIT!

Rizzoli & Isles proved that it doesn’t need The Closer. That’s good news for TNT right there.

    F&B should’ve never comeback.

  • Dan S

1 thing I don’t like on TNT is there incessant promos running at the entire bottom of the screen cutting off the show you’re watching. That’s really annoying but happy R&I can lead off the night

  • USAmerica1st

Happy for R&I: great show, great cast, and great writing.

  • Dave

Hey stop hating on franklin and bash. Their craziness makes it enjoyable to watch. Suits and Franklin and Bash are the only 2 lawyers shows I enjoy.

  • Michael Hadley

Why isn’t Rizzoli & Isles new Season on iTunes? For that matter why isn’t Person of Interest on iTunes?

  • Cher

Franklin & Bash is a great show!!!! It is a little over the top, but that’s the “fun” of it. I get tired of the “hard” dramas!!! i.e., anything NCIS, Law and Order, Criminal Minds. I think they are GREAT shows!!! Just too dark…you just want some lightheartedness fun sometimes and Franklin & Bash delivers with that!!!!

  • SF

Why the Franklin & Bash hate?? That show is greatness!! Very excited to see the strong premiere!

I’m a child of the 80’s and I’m very pumped for Dallas!! I love how Larry Hagman, Linda Gray and Patrick Duffy have remained extremely close after all of these years. I hope the ratings are killer and the show delivers!!

  • John

Angie Harmon on TV what else can you ask for!!!! Love R&I!!!

  • Jared

I love Franklin and Bash! Yes the plot is over the top and unrealistic but it is a fun show that provides quite a few good laughs. Glad it is up from last years premier.

  • george

Franklin & Bash funniest TV show behind Big Bang. I watched last season reruns 4 times each. Actors are well cast. Writing is off the hook good. Best night of summer TV – Period!!!!!!!!!!
