Kristen Hager to Return as Series Regular

NEW YORK, NY – June 11, 2012 – Syfy’s hit drama series Being Human, starring Sam Witwer, Meaghan Rath and Sam Huntington, begins production on its third season today in Montreal. Anna Fricke (Men in Trees, Everwood) is Executive Producer/Showrunner with Muse Entertainment producing thirteen 1-hour episodes for Syfy.

In Being Human, vampire Aidan (Sam Witwer) ghost Sally (Meaghan Rath) and werewolf Josh (Sam Huntington) share the creature comforts of their Boston brownstone while struggling to keep their supernatural secrets from the outside world. Together they strive to resist the temptations of their true paranormal natures and live lives that are as near to “normal” as possible.

As the new season unfolds, Aidan resurfaces from being “grounded” and finds the vampire community vastly changed; he must find a new approach to feeding that will change his life forever. Sally fights to return from limbo and Josh must deal with an ominous visitor who comes to Boston looking for him and Nora.

Kristen Hager, who recurred throughout the first 2 seasons of Being Human playing Josh’s (Sam Huntington) girlfriend Nora, will return this season as a regular series cast member. Nora, it was revealed in the Season 2 opener, had been turned into a werewolf by Josh and plays a significant role in the drama’s tense Season 2 cliffhanger. Kristen Hager previously appeared in supporting roles in the features Wanted with Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy and Todd Haynes’ Bob Dylan biopic I’m Not There with Cate Blanchett and Richard Gere. On television she has recurred on CSI: Miami and guest starred on NCIS: Los Angeles.

This year, in its second season, Being Human experienced impressive double-digit growth in key demos as well as total viewers season over season. Premiere episodes for Season 2 averaged 2.1 million total viewers per episode (+10% vs. Season 1), 1.3 million Adults 18-49 (+19%) and 1.3 million Adults 25-54 (+23%). It remains Syfy’s youngest and most female skewing scripted series.

Executive Producers are Michael Prupas (The Kennedys, Pillars of the Earth), Jeremy Carver (Supernatural), Anna Fricke (Men in Trees, Everwood) who is also writer/showrunner, and Rob Pursey and Toby Whithouse. Stefan Pleszczynski is Supervising Producer and Irene Litinsky (Human Trafficking, The Phantom) is series Producer.

Being Human is a Muse Entertainment production in association with Zodiak USA. It is based on the acclaimed series, Being Human, created by Toby Whithouse and produced by Touchpaper Television, part of Zodiak Media.

  • Observer

This series started off fine, but sure went off the tracks. I am not coming back this season because I really dislike all three of the main characters.

  • Masterbreel

Thats a wrong picture, the Americans look different than the people in this picture ;) Great news though, like the series although ik sometimes think ‘dafuq’

  • Observer

@Masterbreel. Ha! I didn’t think that looked like them. ;)

  • Geraint (Wales)

The picture is from the UK series, oops haha

  • MaySan72

This is the right pic for the us-version – don’t understand the comments about but okey. Love this show and are happy my favorite monsters are back filming. Really hope Henry (Kyle Schmid) will be back too. Can hardly wait for January to come.

  • Julie

Will still watch it, I agree it went off the rails for much of S2, however imo it got much much better for the last 2 or 3 episodes. So I’ll definitely give it another chance next year.

  • ana

Well ive watched the BBC version and did not like it one bit!..I love the American version!! I cant wait for next season to start once more.

  • thesnowleopard

Way to put a huge casting spoiler in the middle of your promo, Syfy (though I had a feeling that character would be coming back in season three, anyway, regardless of what the cliffhanger implied).

  • Nitish Singh

@ana which season(s) of the original BBC version did you watch?
in defense of that show, the first 3 seasons had a different cast. having watched since the S1 finale, i’d say S2 and S3 were ‘better’. i cut S4 (which just aired on BBC America recently) some slack as it was essentially a transition from the original cast to an all new cast.

  • BG

    I can’t wait for Season 3!!

  • rehabber

I loved the first seasons of the BBC series, but did not like this year at all.
Hoping the US version will be good, since one of the showrunners(that would be Jeremy Carver) left to do the same for Supernatural. Was not happy with the first season as they just used scripts from BBC and when watching I already knew what was going to happen. Happily they changed that in S2. PLEASE keep Henry(Kyle Schmid) like him MUCH better than Aidan.
Did the picture get changed?? The one I am seeing is from the US version.

  • maggiemay

Can’t wait for it to come back but would love to see Kyle Schmid come back as well. He as a great addition to the cast and I’d love to see him have a permanent role.

  • maggiemay

Should have been he was a great addition to the cast…

  • Tina

Love the US take of Being Human. I have tried to watch the BBC version, but it really is not at good. Can’t wait until January for the new season. Thank you SyFy (don’t say that often).

  • Loneian

In my opinion I like both versions even thought I like the uk ver. Better since I find it more darker than the us. Us ver. It’s good but it’s a little more girly like vampire diaries…

  • Desiree

I keep seeing that there is a season 3 in the works, but when does it start?? Does anybody know?

  • Naomi

    Can’t wait til season 3! Desiree, it starts January 14, 2013. :(

  • Karen

When does it start? Been waiting for months

  • Cameo

    i personally cant wai

  • Cameo

I CANT wait for BEING HUMAN to start. its one of my favorites right along with #1—SUPERNATURAL!
