How Will the New 'Dallas' Rate in its TNT Premiere?

Update: the ratings are in. The premiere of TNT's Dallas drew a 1.5 adults 18-49 rating and 6.9 million total viewers.

Dallas, a continuation of the classic primetime soap, premieres tonight on TNT. How well do you think the return to Southfork will do among adults 18-49? On one hand, everyone knows the show and the marketing campaign has been stellar. On the other hand, a lot of people who loved the original are now over the age of 49. Hawaii Five-O has proved that a classic show can be successfully updated, but the short lives of the Melrose Place, Bionic Woman and Charlie's Angels reboots have shown that the audience does not always respond to reboots.

To aid in your prognostication, you can read my interviews with the show's stars  Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray.

I was 9 when the original show premiered and 22 when it went off and I am 43 now and really liked the new show. I’ll be back.

“Did you ask Marc Berman? He has a major boner for this show and can’t stop taking about it. He’s predicting record numbers”

Berman writes mostly about household numbers and total viewers.

There’s just as many good reviews as bad reviews. Instead of listening to them watch it and decide for yourself. I thought it was pretty damn good. Im in the 18-49 range so I watched it and left it on to get the count for the re-airing.

My guess is more around 2.5, 12 mil.

Definitely enjoyed the revived “Dallas”. Good to see the “old timers” back, and the newbies definitely held their own.

There were so many positive critics’ reviews for this show, but I didn’t want to get my hopes up. Well, the glowing reviews were right. Dallas was really good. (I saw very few negative reviews, BTW.)

Why have TBTHN become so slow in updating their stats? Dallas has been shown and all other sites have the ratings up…..

They don’t generally update old posts, they make new ones. This since this morning when the press release was issued.
