‘TONIGHT’ AND ‘LATE NIGHT’ GENERATE BIGGER 18-49 AND TOTAL-VIEWER AUDIENCES THAN THE ABC AND CBS TIME-PERIOD COMPETITION

 

SEASON TO DATE, JAY HAS STRETCHED HIS TOTAL-VIEWER LEAD OVER ‘Late Show’ TO 16 PERCENT FROM THE YEAR-AGO 10 PERCENT AND JIMMY FALLON HAS INCREASED HIS MARGIN OVER ‘LATE Late Show’ TO 16 PERCENT FROM 2 PERCENT

 

 

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – June 14, 2012 – NBC’s "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" has delivered #1 rankings in viewers 18-49 and total viewers for the week of June 4-8, generating bigger audiences in adults 18-49 and total viewers than its time-period competition of CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman" and ABC's combination of "Nightline" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live." Note that "Late Show" and "Kimmel" were in rebroadcast Friday night.

 

 

 

At 12:35 a.m. ET, NBC’s "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" ranked #1 ahead of CBS's encore telecasts of "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" and head to head versus ABC’s "Kimmel" in viewers 18-49 and total viewers.

 

Through the first 38 weeks of the 2011-12 broadcast year, "Tonight" has increased its total-viewer margin over "Late Show" to 16 percent (3.691 million vs. 3.180 million), up from the year-ago season-to-date advantage of 10 percent. Jimmy Fallon has also established a total-viewer lead over "Late Late Show" this season of 16 percent (1.762 million vs. 1.514 million), up from last year's advantage of 2 percent. Jimmy has also increased his season-to-date lead over "Late Late Show" in adults 18-34, to 42 percent (276,000 vs. 195,000) up from last year's 25 percent, and in adults 25-54, up to 12 percent (859,000 vs. 766,000) from 3 percent at this point last season.

 

"Tonight" delivered a bigger 18-49 audience than "Late Show" for the 21st time in 25 weeks while Jimmy Fallon attracted a bigger 18-49 audience than "Late Late Show" for a 28th week in a row.

    Sounds like NBC is at it again…poor Ann Curry is about to get Conan’ed at the Today Show.

    Just got back home from Poland and was catching up on Ferguson’s shows, imo that Monday all Scotish episode was excellent, and i still have Tuesday and Wednesday show to look forward to.

    Letterman is close to Leno’s total viewers but his 18-49 ratings are really horrible and are bringing Ferguson’s numbers down with them, nonetheless Fallon did excellent number last night with a weak lead-in so congratulations to him.

    Diana i think Ferguson would have no problem with that, he often jokes that viewers should turn over to Fallon ’cause he’s a great kid.
