Nightline” is No. 1 Across All 3 Measures for the 2nd Straight Season

ABC’s “Nightline” Ranks No. 1 in Latenight for the 15th Consecutive Week in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49

 

2011-12 Broadcast Season

 

Based on Nielsen’s just-released final primetime ratings for the 2011-12 broadcast season to include all DVR playback (Live + 7 Day Program Ratings), ABC News’ Nightline” ranked No. 1 in latenight across all key demos: Total Viewers (3.889 million), Adults 25-54 (1.526 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.167 million), according to Nielsen Media Research. The 2011-12 season stands as the 2nd straight season forNightline” to rank No. 1 across all 3 measures, outperforming both CBS’ “The Late Show” and NBC’s “The Tonight Show(“Letterman” began on CBS during the 1993-94 season).

 

“Nightline” defeated NBC’s “The Tonight Show” during the season by +99,000 Adults 25-54 and by +73,000 Adults 18-49 to score its largest advantages over the NBC program in both key demos in 18 years – since the 1993-94 season.

 

“Nightline” outdelivered CBS’ “The Late Show” during the season with its largest Total Viewer lead (+670,000) in 13 years and biggest Adults 25-54 advantage (+147,000) in 12 years – since the 1998-99 and the 1999-2000 seasons, respectively.

For the week of June 4, 2012, ABC’s “Nightline” ranked No. 1 in latenight for the 15th consecutive week in Adults 25-54 (1.294 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.006 million), according to Nielsen Media Research.

 

“Nightline” has taken the No. 1 position in 26 weeks in Total Viewers, 31 weeks in Adults 25-54 and 30 weeks in Adults 18-49 of the 38 weeks of the season to date.

 

“Nightline’s” Tuesday telecast (6/5/12) stood as latenight’s strongest single-day performance in Adults 25-54 (1.433 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.124 million).

 

Season to date, “Nightline” ranks No. 1 in latenight among Total Viewers, Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49, ahead of both NBC’s “The Tonight Show” and CBS’ “The Late Show.” This marks the 2nd straight season that the ABC program is taking the top spot in all 3 Nielsen measures.
