Very VERY good for DAYS……………Hope it continues to go up!
    Also Happy Y&R went up!

Wow, way to go Days!!! Makes me so happy that there is finally some good news for my favorite show!!! And it’s also nice to see NBC send out a press release to recognize the shows achievements, however small. I think it’s a good sign that there is still hope for Days and the network is keeping the faith! :)

  • Bart

While “Y & R” may be up for the week ending 6/8, its down 374,000 viewers year over year, while the other 3 shows have shown audience gains – still not a good sign for a show that has been on creative life support since Maria Arena Bell’s reign of terror started over 4 and 1/2 years ago.

  • Chris B

Obviously the Stefano Dimera murder mystery helped raise the Days viewers, lets see if they can keep that going.

Bold and Beautiful, GH and Days all up in Total Viewers but B&B and GH down in the 18-49 while Days gets a small rise in that group. Never makes sense to me that the overall ratings went up that much but I guess it was the older overall viewership that went up this week. Things still looking great as compared to last year

  • Ron C.

Ron C. here the alter ego of Chris B. who suffers from D.I.D. Unfortunately the 18-49 rating went down because we got rid of the GH music director and hired the OLTL music director. That upset many in the 18-49 age group thus the ratings drop in that area.

  • Dimitrios

I never understood why GH goes up and down in ratings. One week it’s up by a lot then down. I watch the show everyday. Never miss it. I know people DVR it, as do I. But still, the differences are so drastic. If the soap opera fans know their show is in trouble of being cacelled, why not be consistent in watching? It fustrates me that we can’t get passed the 1.0 and keep it going up. Whatever happens to GH I’ll accept it but I’ll blame all you so called GH loyals.

  • Chrisann D

Loving GH! Hope the ratings skyrocket! Glad also to see a press release for Days!

  • Dave.A

Among these soaps, Y&R is the only one that has ratings to justify being on the air. Contrary to what many people think, the ratings of B&B are NOT good for a soap opera.

However, B&B is the only soap that is still showing signs for potential growth in the future. The other three have run their course and I don’t think they will ever again experience long-lasting increases in the ratings. They may have a week or two where they rise and impress everybody with their numbers, but it never will be permanent like what B&B has accomplished.

Call me delusional, but I wouldn’t be surprised at all if B&B (not Y&R) is the last soap standing.

  • Pat

Actually it was Latham who turned Y and R unrecognizable. While MAB and writers have dished out some junk, since the 1st of the year the focus has shifted back to character and families and is very much back on track. It’s holding its own.

bold and beautifull want be the last one standing if liam and hope get married teamsteffy has over 1000 likes teamhope has less than 300 likes no ones wants to see logans every day when bell lets them win all the time ready for change bnd will see alot of lost viewers if liam and hope get married as for y and r it will always be good victor always has it and always will

  • Clarke

@Pat. %100 agree. Y&R has been getting back on track and MAB is not as bad as people make her seem. The show could improve of course, but I disagree that the show is on “creative life support”…

  • MBmomof3

I am liking all 4 soaps right now. Even BB has grown on me. YR is the least enjoyable right now IMO, but they’ve got a talented cast. Go soaps.

Oh yeah, latest show getting all the buzz… Dallas. Go soaps, indeed.

  • Pat

Thanks Clarke. I’ve watched since the beginning, and while it’s not anything like it was when being written by Bill himself, or by Kay or Jack, I’ll take these storylines over the ones under LML. And yes, MBmom, their cast is great and has mostly remained the same. That’s key to the show remaining #1, through the years.

  • Ari

Soaps are no different than primetime.
It isn’t total audience that TPTB care
    about, it’s 18-49 women. Y&R will probably
always lead in that demo as they do in
all the others. But, I agree with the
    creative life support statement.

It’s all Bill Bell rehash instead of
coming up with fresh stories and ideas.
I think what MAB is fine with people who
have watched the show for eons and understand
the legacies and characters who have returned
after a decade, but younger and newer viewers
may not care about the history as much and would
rather deal with the present and future.

  • Rickster

Obviously the Stefano murder resonated with viewers. Kudos!

I am sad to hear that Peter Reckell (aka Bo Brady) is being axed from the show. He’s been an integral part of the Days family for a long, long time. I really wonder how the SuperCouple “BOpe” will break up because we already know Kristian Alfonso has inked a long term contract with DOOL. One could hope his departure is temporary and he’s back when a front burning story line warrants him.

I really hope Kayla has SOMETHING to do soon. Her waiting tables and serving beer at Brady Pub is becoming old. We all know “Steve” isn’t in Africa, he’s changed his name and living in Genoa City (the actor that plays Steve is now on Y&R). I think her star power has potential.

Anyway, I will sleep very content knowing Days had a much needed bump and hope that it continues (although the story arc has really slowed as of recent).

    Way to Go DOOL!!!!

Days is a funny soap different than the other soaps. The other soaps have fans that stay with them not matter what. Days has fans that only come out when a good storyline comes along. I think this with Stefano can be the reason they are back now. History, will show this all the way back the Marlenia being possesed by the Devil in 1995 and more recent with the serial killer story line around 2003-2004 and the baby swith around 2007-2008.With the right story they will come. So, hopefully they will start churning out some great stories before renewal talks start.

Glad GH is up a tiny bit. I watch on dvr, but FF through lame ads most of time. I do try to watch the week again on HULU though when I have time. And this current week is worthy of watching again via HULU. This week is damn good.
