Cancel it already!
So.. Duets and Dogs in the City are both flops. Sure they may be cheap to produce, but their ratings are laughably bad.
Wait, Up All Night was a 0.9 in the prelims. Why is it 0.8 now?
Betty was 1.3 also. Not 1.2
Seeing SYTYCD rule the night is a sight for sore eyes. FOX is now probably regretting the decision to cancel the results show. I bet Take Me Out drops to a 1.0 this week, and The Choice below 1.5.
@Nick yes Up All Night and Off Their Rockers repeates were adjusted down. They don’t announce adjustment in repeates because there’s no point.
Surprised that ANTM still repeating well. Why air Duets in that death slot?
A repeat of ‘CSI’ (a 13 years old Show) had best ratings than ‘Dogs in the City’ ? ‘Dogs’ will be canceled soon or it’ll move to a cable channnel.
@Dean_W
How so? Dogs is doing pretty good all things considered going up against the already established SYTYCD
@ K
OK but a 1.1 is pretty low for CBS. If the was on The CW it would be very high but, on the other hand, CBS is the #1 TV Channel in America (not for a long time if they continue this way !)
@RandyL
Dogs in the City is building an audience, and is worthy of a full summer season. This is a great family friendly show that is getting buzz.
Plus it has demo appeal, and will give CBS an additional summer programming option that is badly needed.
++
Duets on the other hand has a much higher production cost then Dogs, and even if it is also pulling a similar demo of 1.1 that breakdown is less affluent, and as such less valuable to advertisers.
@ Joseph
Sorry but I’m not agree. OK ‘Dogs in the City’ is a Family friendly Show but CBS is a Repeat Channel in Summer.
‘Dogs’ is not the kind of Show that air on CBS (Maybe on NBC ?). Plus,last week it hits a 0.9 on Adults 18-49 (very bad for CBS).
If CBS really wants to have Summer programming they can pick up new Shows with a reduced number of Episodes (Between 12 and 16) like TNT, USA and other cable Channels do.
@Dean_W,
True CBS does repeat, only until Big Brother and its 3 nights of programming starts. Dogs would make a nice lead in (or out) for BB, which may be what CBS is planning on.
I wish that they would make more original programming in the summer. It’s all reality TV. I love Broadcast TV, but I have had to turn to Cable.
The new Dallas, on TNT @ 9:00, had more viewers and a higher rating 18-49 share that any other program on Wednesday night.
CBS needs to come up with a new fun awesome reality show. something that’s never been done before and is not stupid like that Dogs In The City.
I’d personally like to see Dogs in the City cancelled. Justin Silver is a likeable guy (although he’s trying a little too hard) but he’s Cesar Millan lite saying the same things but trying to say them differently. ‘They call me the dog guru’….(yeah, i doubt that)….and then coming up with some ‘dominance’ explanation for a dog’s behaviour that any skilled canine professional knows to be wrong.
And that’s the real reason DITC should be cancelled, he isn’t right about some things and downright irresponsible in others. Teaching a 9yo girl to shove and slap a Bernese for ‘leave it’ in the first episode was just plain wrong.
And the ‘exposure’ for the abused pit in Ep.3 was just way too fast. Difficult dog, difficult situation, shake my head in disbelief at how it was handled for the benefit of TV.
Justin Silver does a lot of good things but, just like CM, these are not the things you should be teaching TV viewers as how to do it – and that’s one reason there are 4.7m dog bites a year in the US.
So I know most talk here is about Nielsens, demos, ratings only etc. and that’s why i’m here most of the time but this is a subject close to me and DITC should go, regardless of the ratings, the less the better.
