In late-night metered-market households Friday night:

Nielsen TV Ratings: ©2012 The Nielsen Company. All Rights Reserved.

NOTE: All ratings are "live plus same day" from Nielsen Media Research unless otherwise indicated.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.  More information on ratings is available here.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Nikita and Supernatural repeated well as always. The repeats even got higher numbers than GG’s original wich scored less than a million viewers, I think…

Wow the Mega stunts thing did great. I domt think anything on the networks pulled a 2.5 for a friday during regular season

  • battye

Great numbers for the tightrope walk!

  • John A

Good numbers for ABC and CW. FOX and CBS pathetic as usual.

  • forg

wow amazing ratings! Didn’t expect that special will do well, just thought it was filler Summer programming

  • RJ

Solid ratings. Skewed old, but oh well.

  • Martin

Hey, will someone tell me, why does the CW do so well in ratings on Friday repeats of Supernatural and Nikita when they are in preliminarys and then every time the finals come out they drop like a third.

    Anyone know??

  • Nick

The stunt thing was live. Shouldn’t it be red?

Everything skew old on Fridays. :)

  • Tessa

My parents watched that stunt thing last night. I wasn’t interested because I didn’t see the appeal of a guy walking on rope for a few minutes stretched over 3 hours. That could explain the old skewing.

“Hey, will someone tell me, why does the CW do so well in ratings on Friday repeats of Supernatural and Nikita when they are in preliminarys and then every time the finals come out they drop like a third.

Most likely on an ongoing basis because of local pre-emptions for sports (currently baseball), the viewing of which is included in the fast affiliate ratings, but is removed from the final ratings.

“The stunt thing was live. Shouldn’t it be red?”

I don’t think it was live in all timezones, just in Eastern/Central.

What is the difference between Talent and Intelligence? Walking on a tight rope above Niagara falls is Talent. Not trying such a thing, is Intelligence!

A so-called joke, someone text-ed me a few years back!

When is Supernatural gonna be on Wednesdays?

  • Tessa

I’m pretty sure when the guy pulled it off and got his money from the network/whoever sponsored him, he felt pretty intelligent.

  • Clarke

The tightrope special did WAY better than I thought it would. I watched it live and it was actually very exciting. ABC took a risk airing a special like this and it payed off.

I was just a text message I got YEARS BACK and I remembered after looking at the headline of this post. It was nothing in reference to that man or his heroic act.
BTW, I am about to check the videos in YouTube. It seems exciting.

And also, I didn’t really get what you are trying to tell me!

Where are the ratings for the 18-34 demo and the numbers for Univision??

I would think Univision was second in 18-49’s last night (June 15th), and probably came close to tying ABC for the top spot among 18-34’s.

I also suspect that the early portion of prime-time was impacted by the U.S. Open Golf tournament on ESPN, given that Tiger Woods was finishing up his second round.

With Tiger tied for the lead at the halfway point, look for NBC to pull big numbers tonight (since he’ll tee off sometime between 6:30 and 6:45 P.M. EDT), maybe the most people to have watched a prime-time TV program on a Saturday night since the NFL playoffs last January, espite it being a Saturday in mid-June.

And if he’s still in the hunt tomorrow, ratings for much of Game 3 of the NBA Finals could be affected (In fact, the NBA should seriously consider moving the start time of tomorrow’s Game 3 back an hour, from 8:15 P.M. EDT to 9:15, so only the first half would go head-to-head against golf).

  • The-ExtinctLeopard

Not too bad for Nikita and Supernatural. Hope they hold steady.

  • ZJW

I’m surprised Wallenda scored so well. I was actually there at Niagara Falls, and i was just blow away. I hope that amazement translated on TV, b/c in person it was a sight to behold.

  • Nick

A lot of times, baseball games on The CW push over into primetime. The prelims show what everyone was watching on The CW @ a certain time , not just the Nikita or Supernatural episode. This is corrected in the finals, often with an adjustment down.
