In late-night metered-market households Friday night:

Nielsen TV Ratings: ©2012 The Nielsen Company. All Rights Reserved.

NOTE: All ratings are "live plus same day" from Nielsen Media Research unless otherwise indicated.

Definitions:

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.  More information on ratings is available here.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Surprised Wallends’s high wire act scored so well, it may even bring Evil Knevil out of retirement.

  • gern blanston

glad i watched it, although the feat unto itself was not that difficult for a wallenda with 30 years on the high wire…..the visuals were STUNNING!

  • Lion

The ratings for NIKITA and SUPERNATURAL was not adjusted down last week they stayed the same in the finals though. Great ratings for these 2 CW shows

  • Oliver

Look at how young Community skews compared to every other Friday show. Its skewing younger than even the The CW, let alone the other major networks.

Moving Community to Friday is a huge mistake. Community skews ridiculously young, young people don’t watch TV on Fridays, there’s virtually no overlap with Whitney’s audience.

  • rob60990

Community was moved to Fridays to die. Its ratings didnt warrant a 3rd and 4th season renewals. Be happy its on NBC whose standards keep on dropping to embarrassing levels.

  • Lion

Oliver its not skewing younger than the CW’s shows on friday look at their viewer numbers and then the ones for community

  • Oliver

Community’s ratings obviously did warrant a 3rd and 4th season renewal because, well, it was renewed. Its ratings have consistently beat the NBC average in NBC’s toughest timeslot (up against the #1 and #3 show of the week) despite zero promotion.

I am looking at the numbers and Community is skewing younger than the CW.

Community: 3.30m viewers per 18-49 ratings point
Nikita: 3.90m viewers per 18-49 ratings point
Supernatural: 3.46m viewers per 18-49 ratings point

Community was the youngest skewing show on broadcast television last night.

    @KS
Nothing, just teasing you old fellow. ;)

  • Tessa

Geez, I’m so glad Supernatural fans won’t have to put up with Community fans next fall. Grimm and Fringe fans can have that honor.

    FYI, repeat numbers don’t matter.

  • Lion

community will be on at 8:30 that is not grimm,Fringe and Nikita. Because they will air at 9pm.

  • Rob R

I wonder if ABC will consider a live execution next. They might want to save that for “Good Morning America” so that they can beat “Today” and then chat about it afterward, continuing onto “Good Afternoon America”

  • Kaylie

Great repeats for Nikita & Supernatural. I still don’t understand why TVD’s repeats were so down this week.

  • James D.

Shockingly high numbers for ABC, but it may not be that much of a surprise. David Blaine had decent numbers for this magic stunt specials for ABC, so did David Copperfield back when he had his annual CBS events. Didn’t Robbie Knievel’s jump on FOX several years ago score well in the ratings?

We keep saying it — give something the people want to see on Friday and Saturday nights, and they’ll come. Nearly 11 million people on a Friday night (with a 2.5 demo), and in the middle of June no less, makes this a Top 5 show in both demo and overall when the numbers come out next week.

    @Tessa

Anyways, good to meet my ‘frenemy’ after a while. Actually, I don’t have holidays to go on a vacation, even though it’s hot burning summer here :( . So, I tried to post in IMDB, but I am not able to cross the verification barrier.

  • sebacon

to christy mentalist is the next for cancel on this deathtimeslot sunday..you will see

  • Luke

Great, now we’ll see a bunch of stunts on TV during sweep months.

  • davie

Im hoping community can pull in decent numbers in the fall for that 830 timeslot. It already has a syndication deal with comedy cenfral that begins in late 2013. I wonder how much Sony is willing to dish out to universal for more episodes.

For those saying reruns dont matter in renewal choices id say that delends on the situation. Im sure Nikitas rerun numbers (0.3s ) being so close to the new numbers (0.4s) make WB think that it would do good in syndication.

  • disney rocks

Go Let it shine! Second highest amount of viewers for the night!

  • JoeyDavid.com

I am also surprised the stunt thing did well, but it wasn’t exciting, maybe because I’ve seen ALMOST everything. Besides, he had a safety thing attached which he didn’t want on, so it took away the thrill in my opinion. And yes, networks will do a 3 hour special for a 45 min show for ratings. Just like other reality shows. I am wondering how much ABC paid him to do it.

Also, it was inspiring, because it was his dream to walk across the falls and he did it, many people just dream and don’t go after those dreams.

  • Sid

Really good for Nikita. It’ll probably lose some viewers on Monday though.
