  • Greg

Great for Bunheads, the show is terrific. I hope it receives a very long episode order like Switched the Birth did last year.

  • Evan

“ABC Family’s critical darling, “The Secret Life of the American Teenager”

I just about did a spit-take at that. Bunheads is the only show on that network that is critically acclaimed.

  • therock

Bunheads not critically acclaimed yet, there has been only 2 episodes, and critics were not given beyond the pilot, most critics were optimistic about it…don’t jump the gun yet

  • RJ

Here are the average scores from Metacritic:

    Switched at Birth – 75
    Bunheads – 74
    The Lying Game – 63
    Jane By Design – 54
    Melissa & Joey – 54
    Pretty Little Liars – 52
    Baby Daddy – 49
The Secret Life of the American Teenager – 47

  • CarrieMaine

Critically acclaimed, my ass. I know teen girls who watch Twilight that consider this to be offensively mind numbing crap.

  • Kyle7

Well, it’s probably very well liked by one critic somewhere, and in ABC PR land that justifies being able to use the phrase “critical darling” without technically lying.

  • Evan

Oh and Switched at Birth. Though the reception has been uneven past the first 10 episodes.

  • Jared

I even forgot about Switched at Birth..its been so long since a new episode..and I actually liked that show…ughhh ABC FAMILY and there Long hiatuses!!..

  • Thetruth

It is not ‘critical darling’ to say the least but it is such a good teen show ‘trainwreck’ almost a parody..and when you watch it high and with lot’s of irony it is actually pretty funny..and Amy and Ricky are cute..lol and also it is the show the most successful in term of ratings for such a long time on-air on this cable network.

  • Grenie

Wow, that’s great news for Bunheads. I can’t believe it retained 100% of its audience from last week. Maybe they’ll get news of a renewal/second season soon!

Also, I had to LOL at the ‘critical darling’ description for Secret Life. That show is, by far, the WORST scripted show on American television right now. It’s barely better than some sleazy reality shows out there. I really don’t understand how it is ABC Family’s highest rated show, besides maybe Pretty Little Liars. Everything is terrible, from the writing to the acting to the directing! :-(

  • Jenn

Yes, Secret Life is like a trainwreck, but there’s no denying it still brings in some pretty good numbers 5 seasons in.

Bunheads is doing well holding onto Secret Life’s total viewers, but it needs to bring its demo up. It’s down 2 tenths from Secret Life.

  • jess

bunheads prob needs to introduce some cute young guys as love interests to the girls to bring the demo up a bit.

  • Tate

Bunheads is a great family show. Hope it plays for a few seasons.

  • DollFace

I watched Secret Life for a couple of episodes but I got sick of all the close up shots of the actors. It looks like they are never in the room with each other for a conversation. They seem to be taking turns reciting lines to the camera so there was is any connection or chemistry between the characters.

  • jess

omg i noticed that too about the close ups! it was driving me nuts. you’re right about the lack of connection and chemistry.

  • oliveginger

At least Secret Life has a diverse cast. Why are there no black/Asian/Latina ballerinas on Bunheads??
