“Crony capitalism is not the same as risk taking. It is the antithesis. We can create jobs without having to fund risk taking with subsidies and tax breaks or any kind of goodie bag. Capitalism is not the same thing as corporatism and should not be confused with it no matter what the newest talking point may be out of a politicians mouth or the corporate media. Corporate welfare is corporate welfare.”

So your saying every and any instance of a company recieving a tax break or other enticement to invest in a new manufacturing or research facility,,distrubution center,,amusement or entertainment complex from a local or state government,,envolves croney capitalism??In every instance a political donor,,friend or realitive of a politician is improperly rewarded??Would you also suggest that attracting a new Apple corp. research campus brings the same value to a community and should recieve the exact same preferential treatment as a Piggle Wiggle Supermarket??Providing an attractive business climate and providing incentives to attract desirable corporations,,are always a more prodctive way to actually create contruction jobs ,,than any tax payer funded stimulas plan building roads and bridges..

Your comment “Government must not only subsidize and give tax breaks but must also provide an environment of risk taking for corporations” sure seems to indicate that you believe our country should abdicate to global competitors like China,,Brazil,,South Korea,,India or any country that dosen’t share this naive opinion,,our important global industries and the millions of jobs that would follow…

“When productivity goes up as a company downsizes, the stocks go up. It is about profit not people.”

This is not a zero sum game,,you can have an economy with rising productivity and a falling unemployment rate and your comment “Corporations are sitting on capital because it works for shareholders not necessarily for workers” is still false cause and effect,,because sitting on cash is the least effective use of shareholders equity and investing in new plant and equipment,,aquiring a competitor or even using capital to buy back company stock are all a better use of capital than just sitting on the cash at the current rate of returns,,unless there is some other negitive underlying reason for corporate inaction..

Steve Perry – -Well Reagan did more than just pandering to a voter block, he actually passed Amnesty for 3 to 4 Million Illegals. Oh…how the party has changed.

He got elected to didn’t he. Do you think Nobama did what he did on illegal immigrants for anything other than political motives? I’m not into playing comment lawyer. Just so you know painting with a broad brush..IE Regan is the Republican’s hero can get you into trouble. Try “some” or “most” or some other word of your choosing. I’ve discussed things on here where i was told i didn’t get the “inference” of the sentence.

I can only guess where “Reagan is a hero to the R’s” came from. 1] Rush loves the guy. Most R’s are afraid of Rush so the play along. 2] He (Reagan) won 49 states in an election. Pretty impressive if ya ask me.

I was still sewing my wild oats during his terms. I don’t dislike him nor do i consider him a hero. Just another politician as far as I’m concerned.

unretiredx2 – That was just a way to look at F&F in a different way.

My bad! That you was serious. :???:

HLN beat CNN in the prime time demo 25-54. Poor CNN. :(

Erin Burnett (7pm) was CNN’s top rated show in the 25-54 demo. She’s carrying the network. ;)

Faith3 – The private companies are not collecting the loans because they are government backed so therefore no shirt off their back when the students don’t pay them back.

See what govt does. The govt caused the housing bubble & the student loan bubble. Promise a chicken for every pot & then can’t afford the chicken. (Probably better said that the people can’t afford the chicken.) The govt gives them incentives to go into debt & they know they can’t pay it back. It might seem mean/cruel but not everybody is “entitled” to a house or college. That’s just the way life is. Some countries with a smaller population, higher taxes, different culture, more efficient run govt, can make such things happen. It’s just not possible in America at this time. Let’s see how well the govt does in getting the money back.

  • Hillbilly

Faith3 – Clean air is for the good of everyone no matter income.

Deficit/debt reduction & the safety net aren’t? Glad to see you dropped the GW deal & now are talking pollution/clean air. :O

But supporters say the 17,000 premature deaths avoided and $100 billion of health and environmental benefits realized annually would more than compensate for the $3 to $4 a month that EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson said the regulation will cost homeowners when it’s fully implemented.”

The opponents say hogwash. I’m not getting into the posting dueling links game. I think its an intrusion of big govt…you don’t. We will have to agree to disagree. So does the the new regs effect the established plants?

  • Hillbilly

I’ve noticed in this discussion you seem to think companies have a “patriotic” duty to the people/workers. You haven’t come right out & said that. I see subtle hints that’s what you think. Am I misunderstanding you?

  • Hillbilly

RCP 48.3 Approval rating (2:17am EST) for Nobama. See if F&F has an effect. Now if the SCOTUS gives their ruling Thursday won’t be able to tell. Willard needs to stay on the economy. Just say let congress & the courts settle this. JMO

  • Hillbilly

He loves spending other folk’s money. Yes i know all of them do.

President Barack Obama’s campaign spent more than it took in over the month of May despite his frenetic fundraising schedule, leaving the massive operation with just shy of $110 million dollars cash on hand against $115 million one month earlier.

The embattled incumbent scooped up a hair over $39 million dollars but spent nearly $44.6 million, according to a formal filing with the Federal Election Commission. A more detailed breakdown can be found here.

I’m moving to Uruguay. No AppleStinx you can’t come with me.

MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay (AP) — Uruguay’s national government said Wednesday it hopes to fight a growing crime problem by selling marijuana to citizens registered to buy it, and will send a bill to Congress that would make it the first country in the world to do so.

There’s a video on youtube if your interested. ;)

The discovery of a double-headed sex toy mistaken for a mystical rare fungus brought national notoriety to a Chinese village and TV program this week.

It’s OK for Nobama to use a press conference on last trip before the Rio+20 to attack Willard. Now Nobama is crying about Willard’s adviser doing it to him.

President Barack Obama scolded Mitt Romney and his campaign late Tuesday for violating the unwritten rule that American politics stops at the water’s edge by criticizing him overseas.

  • Hillbilly

Something to ponder. Nobama spent thousands of dollars (not his personal money of course) in court not wanting to release his BC. He released it after Donald Trump starting rambling about it. Maybe if Trump starts rambling about the F&F deal Nobama will tell Holder to release the documents. It seems odd Holder said he would give them or at least a briefing, then 12 hours later has Nobama do the executive privilege deal. I can’t decide if there’s anything to hide or Nobama & Holder are playing head games. Guess time will tell.

  • Steve Perry

Actually, Reagan passed Amnesty in 1986…way after the election. As far as calling him the Republican’s hero, you can take that issue up with Rush, Hannity, O’Reilly, etc. Also, let’s not forget how the GOP candidates dropped his name like a thousand times during the debates and in commercials. It’s actually pretty comical at the end of the video.

what a complete disgrace both obama and holder are !! what in the world has happened to the u.s.a ? the entire world is laughing and they are right ! and it sure looks like this pile of dung will be given another 4 years to destroy more of what little is left. what is wrong with people ?? how can anyone want this to continue ? just imagine how much will be destroyed when this joke has no reason to keep lying and can do what ever he wants. what a complete shame how we have fallen into the gutter with this guy . it is over folks we are now a disgrace in the eyes of the world and we deserve it. just think back to when we could be proud of the president. no one has jobs and no one cares ? where has pride gone ? i for one must work and provide for my family to be able to look in the mirror each day. what is next ? cast another vote for this scum and hang your head in shame !!

The liberal mantra of lie and lie some more has been exposed for all to see.

LOONS like Pelosi , and Debbie Shultz have been outed.

Democrats will be the minority for the next fifty years at least.

  • Italian Mike

    Steve Perry

Steve you are correct Reagan passed an amensty bill with the help of Congress. The illegals were supposed to jump through a number of hoops to get legalized. The rules were never enforced.

Reagan later regretted passing the bill. He felt he was mislead. Which is a nice way of putting it.

I do not have a problem with the mostly Latino illegal immigrants achiving legal status but were does it end. Will any of these so called rules be enforced, I think not.

People that believe we should enforce the laws and deport are right but we can’t unring the bell. We need to close our southern border. Stop the flow of anymore ILLEGAL immigrants from entering the country. I think people that oppose letting the people here already stay may soften their stance if we stop the flow.

It may be a mute point since there are no jobs here under the policies of President Obama. They may as well stay in Mexico.

Note: If we do allow (not a right) ILLIGAL immigrants to stay, don’t bother with any rules, or fines it will just turn into a big joke like it did in 86.

  • Italian Mike

Pelosi, I am writing this as gently as I can, is the dumbest person to ever be elected Speaker of House. The left called Bush stupid. He is rocket scientist compared to Bella Pelosi.

The lib media sold her as a moderate. The woman needed to clean up the House. You would think the feminists would be up in arms about that little play on words. Besides don’t limosine libs like Pelosi have maids to clean the house. She is a hard core San Fran. leftist and did more damage to our finances in two years as speaker than anyone in our history.
