No idea about GH. It has been good for a while. At least it went up in Men 18+ demo from week ago/year ago. On Mon it was at 1.8/2.5 mil….by Friday…yikes, 2.1 ish mil. Hope it rises. Good Afternoon America may be a better lead in, but if that does decent ratings of 2+million it may be goodbye GH in Fall or in 2013 Spring. :(

  • Rhonda

GH has lost over 100,000 viewers in the last two weeks in the prime age group of 18-49. IMO it is just a matter of time for this show. The Jason/Sam/baby story is what killed it for me. I probably would have kept watching if the writers would have at least kept Jason and Sam together long enough to have their baby and have some happiness. I know these writers are new so they probably don’t know the history of Jason and Sam, but to let them believe they have each lost another child after both of them have already lost a child is more than I can stand to watch. It is all doom and gloom.

  • Richard

Yes Rhonda, That does hurt that they have lost that many in the key demo in 2 short weeks.

This week also all the other daytime shows were up and GH dropped in the key demo and the overall viewers too. The only other show to drop on ABC daytime this week was The View.

It was way too soon for them to do another baby death story. It seems even the general audience is not liking it.

  • Darcy

Wow GH is fading fast. I for one don’t like RC writing and that is why I no longer watch.

Rhonda you may have something with JaSam story. I have been watching old video clips on You Tube and it seems like alot of viewings on the happy JaSam clips.

Richard I agree way too soon for another baby death story.

I know this is a soap but it would be nice to have some happiness a few happy couples.

Like Rhonda said it seems to be all doom and gloom.

  • James

Personally, I feel RC is the better headwriter for this show. Then again, I like the OLTL feel to it over Guza/Garin reigns. Please watch…then again, unless GH is doing B&B numbers, ABC probably doesn’t care.

  • Derrick

YESSSSS to CBS and continue to keep going up, please!!!!!???
    DAYS, what happened?

  • Sean

  • Dang

This is bad for GH it over

  • Darcy

Sean sorry but I can’t watch GH right now. The writing for me right now is depressing no happiness at all.

  • Dang

    Days better get it together

  • Sean

Still WATCH! Not liking a storyline is better than NOT HAVING A SHOW AT ALL…please start watching!

  • Diana

Rhonda: JaSam story is the reason I quit watching. I know that couples on soaps don’t stay together forever. JaSam has lost so much that I think the writers should have given them a baby (that they don’t think is dead) and kept them together at least for awhile to enjoy the baby and their marriage.

I also don’t care for the Kate story, but like Rhonda said I quit because of the JaSam story.

GH needs a little happiness everything is sadness right now.

  • Michele

Tick, tock GH. Times almost up and these numbers are not helping your case. Down in every category except male viewers.

Question: Do soap ratings usually go down during the summer?

  • Darcy

Michele I don’t know if soap ratings go down in the summer or not but GH is down from this time last year. GH’s days are numbered.

  • Dani

Both GH and Days are lower but at least Days had Lexies story which was sad but good. As a former GH fan I don’t care for most of these characters. How about bringing some GH characters back or back from the dead. There is a list of Quartermaines they can start with. Not everything about GH was about about Luke and Anna and Sonny and Jason

The best soap at is still ignored and has been for months is B&B. They just did a location shoot in Italy that’s been fantastic and the current story is hitting some good beats.

Sean GH doesn’t deserve to be watched. I refuse as a customer to be blamed for Carlivati delivering a crappy product

  • Chris B

Not a good week for GH but the numbers aren’t as bad as people are making them out to be. GH in the Women 18-49 is still ahead of Days by about 25,0000 and is only a little over 100,000 less than Bold and The Beautiful.

Right now GH’s future will really come down to the Good Afternoon America ratings. Regardless I still say ABC will keep it to allow it to hit that 50th year. Beyond that probably not looking so good.

Yes I am a big supporter of GH but I have always said I only see it getting until early next year unless the ratings improve greatly. They still have that chance only time will tell.

The summer looks not so good for Day. Don’t forget Days won’t be on for an entire month because of the Summer Olympics. Sometimes can be tough to get viewers back after not being on for that amount of time! Also considering the number of characters being let go, it does not look so great for them.

Young And The Restless wow down 329,000 in total viewers. I was going to give that show a try awhile back when the other ABC soaps were cancelled. I went with Days instead, which I drop in and out of. Sometimes it interests me, other times just seems to drag. I have been again thinking about giving Young and the restless a try but with the dwindling ratings tells me, probably not the time. May have to give Bold and the beautiful a go since that seems to be the one soap with rising ratings right now.

  • Chris B

Correction Days will be preempted for 2 weeks for the Summer Olympics, still that can tend to lead to a loss of viewers, could hurt Days overall

“Days of Our Lives” will be preempted for the entire duration of the 2012 Summer Olympics. “Days” will be preempted for the 10 weekdays of the Summer Olympics: Monday July 30, Tuesday July 31, Wednesday August 1, Thursday August 2, Friday August 3, Monday August 6, Tuesday August 7, Wednesday August 8, Thursday August 9, and Friday August 10. “2012 Summer Olympics: Daytime” will be airing on all NBC affiliates from 10AM-5PM ET (9AM-4PM CT/MT/PT) each day. Episode # 11894 (airing Friday, July 27, 2012) will be the last episode of “Days” aired until Episode # 11895 airs on Monday, August 13, 2012.

  • Kayla Rae

Oh, how I will miss Days when it is off for 2 weeks during the Olympics!!! But of course I will be watching them every day again the very second the return after the Games!

    Days rocks!

  • Biased

Even though DAYS dropped a little bit this week its been on a role lately in the ratings and in terms of quality. I think you can expect to see it go back up next week with Lexie’s death, the continued EJ/Stefano stuff, and Melanie getting kidnapped.

I actually watched Y&R this week and its the best its been in ages. It looked a little bit like its old self again. B&B had a pretty good week also as this show has been the hottest soap since OLTL went off.

GH seems to be in some up and down cycles right now but at least the writing is consistent. If GH fans can’t appreciate good writing then please stop watching the show its as simple as that no need to complain about the show.

  • Rich

Let’s see if the ratings pick up during the summer time with a lot of teachers and students home!
