    Congrats to GH who made a killing at tonights Emmy awards. Best Directing Team, Anthony Geary won for leading actor, Jonathan Jackson for supporting actor, and GH won the best daytime drama award. Way to go GH.

  • Reva

    GH did good tonight under the old writers and director.

  • Darcy

    What is killing GH right now is that the writers don’t care about the fans. If the writers start listening and caring about what the fans want then maybe the rating will pick-up.

  • Kayla Rae

    Happy congratulations to Days of Our Lives, the best soap of all time for winning the Best Writing Team and Chandler Massey for winning Best younger male actor on DOOL!!! So well deserved on both counts! Days storylines rock…especially the incredibly well-written and superbly acted Will/gay storyline! Go DAYS!!!

  • http://tvbythenumbers.com Bill Gorman

    Chris B, Frank V, Ron C, and their other sock puppets will no longer be joining us for commenting.

  • robert sprague

    maybe gh win will bring in new viewer but who knows the show needs writers that care about gh history where oh where has all the good writers gone. congrates to tony geary allway deserves that emmy to bad erika slezak did get her last one for vikki on oltl,

  • Jamey

    DAYS and B&B are both up year-to-year in the ratings very positive sign for both shows future. We might end up seeing the last four soaps on the air longer than we think.

    @ Scott: I think the 3pm timeslot has been more of a detriment in recent years because of the collapse of the daytime block as I think it can definitely benefit moving up an hour with a stronger lead-in. OLTL was doing very good numbers there for a while and it may benefit GH once it moves there.

    CONGRATS Chandler Massey on winning a Daytime for Best Young Actor!! Though I predicted General Hospital will do a Hospital Scrub & sweep through the show I was pleasantly surprised to see my fave Chandler win, also Lisa Rinna (Billie), Molly Burnett (Mel), and Lovely Marlena present multiple awards. BB, YR has extremely attractive actors/actresses, the storyline with General Hospital is SOOOO heavy , but Days jsut has that “It” factor that seperates it from other shows, making it seem more realistic (presently I mean) than the others. But yea lots of love at the Daytime Emmys. Airs tomorrow 8pm EST and 10pm EST

  • Chrisann D

    Concrats to all the Daytime Emmy winners….negardless of who they were produced directed or written under….A win is a win!! WTG!

  • Chrisann D

    I personally don’t care if GH won Emmys under the regime of Micky Mouse…any good press hopefully will help keep it on the air. Anthony Geary deserved the Emmy and so did the old writing team. It seems to me that some posters would love to start arguments over the new regime vs the old regime. I just want to see GH remain on the air for a long time regardless of who produces writes or directs it. It is a great show and would rather see a scripted drama rather than a reality or talk show. So again CONGRATS to all the Emmy winners expecially the scripted drama winners! It was nice to see Erika S. (Viki Buchannan) on the Emmys. Susan L seemed a little ackward…..

  • Richard

    Proud for the Emmy winners from GH last night. I didn’t see them but saw the winners this morning. From what I hear Phelps gave a very good speech at the end. I never liked Phelps much as a producer for her treatment of women on the show, but the Jake story last year was very well done even though I hated the loss of a child. The acting and the story focused on family and the Spencers and that was something that the show hasn’t done much in several years.

    I feel like though in another sort of year GH would not have gotten all those awards last night. Awards are a funny thing. If you ever look into the background of any of them from the Oscars to the Grammys to the Emmys, so much politicking and stuff goes into them. I have country music singers say that if you are not liked you won’t get an award. Movies are passed over for Oscars because they made big bucks at the box office. Or get a lot of press.

    Rumors are out there, and many other people are saying similar things that AMC and OLTL got shut out because of the way the press acted last year over the cancellations. They esp. said that is why OLTL got shut out of the big nominations. It is not fair but remember these stars that vote on these are just as human as you and I are.

    From what I am hearing not too many were impressed with HLN’s production esp. their tributes of OLTL and AMC, but they should have already known after the sorry tributes from the Emmys for the last 2 shows that were cancelled. I heard one of the other bad things was the fact they couldn’t afford to purchase the theme songs for the shows to play when the winners were announced. But at least HLN was willing to do them.

    Darcy, I am not sure what the new regimes goal is. Either they are still in cohoots with Frons or just worked with Frons for so long they want to keep his vision alive. Or they just liked the same characters Frons did. Who knows? I thought at first they just wanted to make OLTL fans happy by keeping part of that show alive. But as I see them do stuff to even anger the OLTL fans I am not even sure of that anymore.

    I just know their vision of GH is totally different than anything I have seen for the show. I gave the show 2 more weeks and I watched every minute. I wish the show luck in its present state, but it will just have to carry on without me as a viewer.

  • Darcy

    I tried to watch Gh with the new writers but what I don’t understand is why these new writers didn’t do their homework on the show before they started writing.

    All I can say is thank God for You Tube and I can watch the good old days of GH.

  • Richard

    Oh Chrisann, Several people were talking about how Susan Lucci appeared last night. Some were saying she appeared as if she was drunk or high. Not sure why they would say that as I didn’t see it. I may have to search out a clip on You Tube. I never saw Lucci on AMC but have seen her in quite a few primetime shows and stuff. I always liked her on those.

    Darcy, I read on a site the other day that Frank V. used the focus group thing to see how fans would react to the changes being made to GH. And that the focus groups like it.

    I don’t know how true that is. I know I have read in magazines and some things others have posted here that focus groups have gotten a lot of things wrong in the past. I think they got this one wrong too. I know that many on here say they like the new show, but if the ratings continue to drop it means that even the general audience is not liking something.

    @Bill Gormon,

    Thanks for cleaning up the sock puppets again. I think that the last 2 sets of sock puppets were all the same person — meaning EJ and his bunch were the same as Chris B and his bunch. They all even started sounding just alike. I guess they will be back soon as another set of folks.

  • Kayla Rae

    Susan Lucci just seemed like she thought she was the center of the universe or something. Frankly, she doesn’t impress me that much. I view Deidre Hall as the Queen of Daytime, not Susan Lucci.

  • Dave.A

    I strongly doubt that EJ and Chris B are the same person. Yes they have the same ideology. But their vocabulary and posting patterns were not the same.

    EJ= Soapfan= Regina

    ChrisB = Ron C = Frank V

    Hope this helps

    Gh needs to bring back brenda put her with sonny. Get rid of tne new krisina and bring back the old one. Stop the horrid kate did storylne who cares about kate or her history. They should have gave that story to a person who has a deeo rooted history with others on the show that what made oltl DID with vicki so great it could involve like the entire cast. And bring back the old maxie. Also keep todd and heather on the r hilarious together! The ratings would improve

    Richard/others…I didn’t watch the Daytime Emmys (although, I don’t often watch these award shows), instead I saw a local community theatre production of a play written by an ex-“Golden Girls” writer that was funnier than 9 out of 10 sitcoms currently on the air. But, I digress.

    If HLN did not or could not air the theme songs to the soaps because they cost too much, perhaps it is another example of this wide-ranging all-encompassing “ABC/Disney conspiracy” I keep hearing whispers about. I’m sure the ABC brass are sitting in their comfy executive suites rubbing their hands together and growling “we won’t let the Emmys use the music to our great soaps…yeah, that’ll show ’em!” ;-)

  • Richard

    Jay TN, Evidently it wasn’t just that. The most used reason going around as to why clips weren’t used for the tributes was that Prospect Park owns the rights to them and wouldn’t allow them. Apparently they had to use an old clip of OLTL for some reason to show during one of the OLTL nominations. It was from 2005. It had to be more than just an ABC Disney conspiracy since they couldn’t use NBC and CBS soap themes either. Or any of the talk shows.

    I can’t get over some of the weird categories they added this year, but I also can’t see why soap fans get mad at other shows getting time and stuff during the daytime Emmys. Soaps esp. now are just a part of the daytime community. Several blasted them for giving a Lifetime Achievement Award to the View producer instead of to a soap persona. It’s all part of daytime.

    Jay, I have not watched an Emmy awards for primetime or daytime in years. The only Awards show I watch each year now is the Oscars but I have watched some of all of them in the past. And I used to watch the music ones every year.

    Dave.A — You are probably right but there were a few posts last week made by Chris B that caused me to question if he was not EJ as they sounded very similar to posts that EJ had made and soapfan82 which Robert Seidman had said were the same person. They were just very similar to posts made by EJ or soapfan82.

    I’m not surprised by GH’s depressed numbers. I was watching it off and on since OLTL was canceled and now decided enough is enough, this soap truly sucks. Y&R is slightly getting more interesting. This guy Ricky is really a tall, dark and handsome devil (mostly devil). Watching only one soap now probably is all I can take.

  • JayTN

    Looking over the list of Daytime Emmy winners, I do agree that some of the categories are odd. Not being a big ‘award show’ watcher, how long as there been a “culinary program” category? I would bet that ABC’s “The Chew” will get a nomination in that category next year.

    I was surprised to see “Family Game Night” win the Emmy for Game Show Host, since it airs at night, hence its name. It’s not called “Family Game Day”. I understand why syndicated shows are included…they can be aired at anytime, depending on where you live.

    Am I the only one who finds it a little ironic that Marlene McPherson was included in the writing team for “Days” that won the Outstanding Drama Series Writing Emmy and has since been fired? I know that the awards last night were for the 2010-2011 TV season, and as often as “Days” changes writing teams, who can be 100% sure who the writer was/is during the nomination window?
