Host Riggle will be joined on stage by the world’s premier athletes and some of Hollywood’s biggest stars when The 2012 ESPYS Presentedby Capital One come to Los Angeles. The 20thannual celebration of the best moments from the year in sports will betelevised LIVE from the Nokia Theatre at L.A. LIVE on Wednesday, July 11, at 9 p.m. ETon ESPN/ESPN HD.
This year’s scheduled presenters include Jessica Biel (Total Recall), Jordana Brewster (), Kenny Chesney (Welcome to the Fishbowl), Cody Horn (Magic Mike), Jimmie Johnson, Joel McHale ( ), Olivia Munn ( ), Danica Patrick, Jeremy Renner (The Bourne Legacy), and Shaun White, with more to be announced.
In addition, top athletes scheduled to attend so far include: Carlos Bocanegra, Victor Cruz, Brittney Griner, Robert Griffin III,Gronkowski, Calvin Johnson, Tony La Russa, Jeremy Lin, Lisa Leslie, Evan Longoria, Eli Manning, Mario Manningham, Aaron Rodgers, Matthew Stafford, Justin Tuck, Lindsey Vonn, Brian Wilson, Vince Young and others.
Hip-hop superstar Nas will be performing songs from his new album Life is Good (release date: July 17) throughout the show. Additionally, Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers recorded a new version of the Queen/David Bowie classic "Under Pressure," which will be used exclusively for the ESPYS.
Fans will determine the winners in all ESPY categories (except the Arthur Ashe Courage Award and other special awards) by voting online or on ESPN Mobile Web at ESPN.com/espys. Voting for Best Team will stay open during the live show on ESPN.com/espysand Twitter where fans can vote for their team by using the hash tag #BestTeam accompanied by the team name.
The 2012 ESPYS are Presented by Capital One and associate sponsors include, in alphabetical order: Belvedere, Buick, CLEAR MEN SCALP THERAPY™, EA SPORTS, Gatorade, Jockey, Miller64, Nokia, Twentieth Century Fox’s upcoming film “The Watch” and Under Armour. Nokia will serve as presenting sponsor of ESPN’s Tuesday night BODY at ESPYS pre-party and Miller64 returns as presenting sponsor of the official ESPYS Post Party.
The ESPYS gather top celebrities from sports and entertainment to commemorate the past year in sports by recognizing major sports achievements, reliving unforgettable moments and saluting the leading performers and performances. The 2012 ESPYS will recognize both sport-specific achievements, such as “Best MLB Player” and “Best WNBA Player,” as well as best-in-sport winners, such as “Best Team” or “Best Female Athlete” that pit nominees from different sports against each other. The ESPYS honor ESPN’s commitment to The V Foundation for Cancer Research, a partnership launched with the late Jim Valvano at the inaugural ESPYs in 1993.
