Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

How do CBS Repeat so horribly?

  • Ryan

I Love The Good Wife but damn that’s just bad….

  • fringewillget5seasons

TGW managing to dip lower than the surrounding repeats. How shameful.

  • J.G.

NBC has been genius with their Olympic trials strategy this summer, scheduling it nightly.

  • Brandon

wow..amazing #s for the gymnastic trials..I watched last night and couldn’t be more excited for the games…Olympic ratings are going to be massive this year

  • Charlie Sheen

WOAH! I think NBC might’ve made one of the smartest moves in prime time in a long time to showcase a mini-Olympics for a entire week.

I expected the numbers for gymnastics last night to be huge but not that huge. Gymnastics is skewing younger than the other sports as well. They have a really nice team this year so I expect this to probably be one of the two biggest draws for the Olympics in a few weeks.

The coverage for the Trials has been so much more different this year and it’s way better as the new guy that was hired to run NBC Sports is doing a very good job for them. The Olympics is going to be much more interesting than it has been in years past. There’s a lot of drama being created this year as there’s a huge track and field matchup tonight in prime time.

Should be interesting to see if these games surpass the 2008 edition but its gonna be tough since that edition was lucky enough to have Michael Phelps chase the record.

The Mentalist is soooo… lucky to have such a strong show preceding it.

  • biszanu

    cable ratings? :)

  • lll

    @wn
I know. The good wife is not a good lead for the mentalist at all. Maybe the mentalist should be the good wife’s lead.

  • ShawnM

@ III: You’re suggesting CBS should actually be interested in increasing its Sunday ratings average?

  • nyclover

    wow….”Feel Good Sunday” flopped

  • DW

you know were in reruns now and the lowest viewing week?. a 0.5 for the good wife is great on a july sunday .

  • Bill Spencer

The new guy in charge at NBC Sports is doing a really good job so far, I’m not sure if NBC could’ve gotten these numbers under the previous regime with Dick Ebersol.

  • Kaylie

The lowest CBS repeat I’ve ever seen.

  • Nadine

My favorite TGW episode re-ran last night. One of the best tv hours ever, that one.

  • Brody

Here come the Olympics! NBC must be smiling…they’ve been waiting forever!

  • Joseph

Not surprised the Olympic trials last night (July 1st) did so well, considering that the United States is expected to win several gold medals in the three sports (swimming, track, and gymnastics) that were featured in last night’s coverage.

Additionally, these are the three most popular Summer Olympic sports among American sports fans.

  • sebacon

cbs will have a tough time, for all the wrong decisions they made

  • Melanie

Way to go Olympic Trials and I am so excited about the gymnastics!
