Follow Oprah Behind The Scenes For Her First Year as CEO of OWN
Los Angeles - OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network announced today the premiere of a two-part original primetime special event “Oprah Builds a Network” – a candid look at Oprah’s first year as CEO of OWN – airing Sunday, July 8 and Sunday, July 15 from 9-10 p.m. ET/PT both nights.
“With the tremendous amount of fascination and interest surrounding OWN, we wanted this special to open the doors and go behind the scenes of key moments of this journey building the network,” said Sheri Salata, president, OWN.
In the same way OWN’s popular series “Season 25: Oprah Behind the Scenes” took viewers inside the making of the final season of her successful talk show, this new two-part documentary special will showcase Oprah sharing her innermost thoughts about some of the opportunities and obstacles she’s faced as she works to create her cable network. Executive producer is Erica Forstadt.

Should it not be called
“Oprah Kills A Network”
No one watches this network, so now they want no one to watch how to build a network no one is watching? Confusing…
I am excited to see it! I loved Season 25: Oprah Behind the Scenes!
@Bob, @RJ, Actually, for the month of June, Oprah’s Next Chapter continues to break records the last Sundays bringing in an average of 1.2 million viewers with the Kardashian interviews (2 Sundays), 911,000 viewers for Paris Jackson + 50 Cent, and 700k viewers for 50 Cent Part II. The network was up double digits in primetime an averaged 282k viewers and It is only in is second year.
The network was able to renew deals with key sponsors that paid at least $10 million annually including a $100 million deal with P&G.
It is set to make a profit next year.
And I repeat, it is only in it’s second year. *sips wine*.
@OWN Fan
All the wine you’re sipping may be clouding your senses.
I think this is a good idea. The Behind The Scenes was a very good show, and if the producers and Oprah are truthful to the journey, we’ll see how rough it’s been.
Eating humble pie is a good thing for her tarnished PR image.
Certainly, this kind of show stays to Ms. Winfrey’s mission whereas the series on the KKK (Kardasian Klan) was Oprah trading her image for ratings or the “bartering” of a lifeline to say “we’re growing.” And worse yet, selling her “soul” by agreeing to appear on their show.
@Mickie, the “appereance” is the Kardashian’s camera crew filming Oprah’s camera crew while Oprah was interviewing them. All Oprah did was sign a release. That is all. Nothing more.
OWN’s ratings actually have been way up lately. Never underestimate queen oprah. She didn’t become the richest and most admired self-made woman in America for nothing.
i realize that any ratings / business turnaround for OWN has to start somewhere, but remember, the recent relatively strong year over year results for OWN 2012 is compared to the relatively weak 2011 OWN launch.
