TV Ratings Monday: 'Bachelorette', 'MasterChef' and 'Glass House' Up; 'America's Got Talent' Dips

Due to the nature of live sports programming the ratings for NBC (U.S. Olympic Trials) are approximate and subject to more than the typical adjustments in the final numbers. See below for more information on these Fast Affiliate Ratings.

NBC was the number one network in adults 18-49 and among total viewers.

On FOX, Hell's Kitchen earned a 2.4 adults 18-49 rating, flat with last week. MasterChef garnered a 2.3 rating, up a tenth from last week's 2.2 rating among adults 18-49.

On NBC  the U.S. Olympic Trials swimming event earned a 1.8 adults 18-49 rating. America's Got Talent scored a 2.9 rating, down a tick from from last week's 3.0 rating.

On ABC The Bachelorette earned a 2.5 adults 18-49 rating, up two tenths from  last week's 2.3 rating. The Glass House earned a 1.2 rating, up a tenth from last week's 1.1 rating.

In Late-Night Metered Markets Monday night (with Philadelphia, Washington, Baltimore and Columbus delayed):

  • In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 2.9/7 with an encore telecast; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 2.0/5 with an encore; and ABC's combo of "Nightline," 2.8/6; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.2/4 with an encore. 

  • In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” 0.9/4 with an encore; "Late Show," 0.4/2 with an encore; "Nightline," 0.9/4; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.4/2 with an encore.

  • At 12:35 a.m., "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.4/5 in metered-market households with an encore) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.0/3 with an encore).  In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/3 in 18-49 with an encore) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/1 with an encore).

  • At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/4 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    I’m curious – Hell’s Kitchen has broken format – their was no dinner segment & they didn’t get to have an elimination round. This is the second time they broke format – are they trying to stretch the season?

    b/c of Olympics? To run with Hotel Hell? just curious if anyone knows?

    The CW would get more viewers to watch their network if they actually had images of tumble weed just continously roll across their screen.

    The Bachelorette, Hell’s Kitchen, and AGT are the best rated shows on their own networks. It’s understandable that CBS’s repeat comedy block would suffer. Maybe it would help if they switched it up, putting 2BG and 2.5 Men in their fall slots.

    CBS is going to be so vulnerable Mondays this fall. I hope that Dancing show CBS was making fun of crushes their unfunny, unwatchable comedies. :D

    Hell’s Kitchen had to spread out the episodes because it’s on two nights a week now. It has a bigger episode order.

    I read that AGT got both 3.1 for 9-10 and 10-11 pm.
    So, it’s up vs last week.

    @BAQ, indeed both the 9 and 10p hours drew a 3.1, but the 8:30p half hour of AGT only drew a 2.2, so…

    Even NBC counted it that way, here’s their blurb:

    • From 8:30-11 p.m. ET, “America’s Got Talent” (2.9/9 in 18-49, 10.2 million viewers overall) delivered the #1 results of the night on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key measures on a night that included ABC’s “Bachelorette” (2.5/8 in 18-49) and “Glass House” (1.2/3) and Fox’s “Hell’s Kitchen” (2.4/8) and “MasterChef” (2.3/6). “Talent” won its competitive time period among ABC, CBS NBC and Fox in 18-49, total viewers and other key categories.

    Hell’s Kitchen started about a month earlier this year than last so yeah, they’re stretching it out a bit so that it can
    a) give Fox better ratings throughout the summer and
    b) support Hotel Hell when it comes on.

    There is a double elimination in the next episode. They’ve done this in just about every season. It’s nothing new.

    Wrong. It’s no longer than the past few seasons of about 15 episodes.

    Is it funny for you to see The CW to fail? I’m sure if you owned a network you wouldn’t want people making fun of it’s not very good ratings. I’m tired of people wanting shows to fail and laughing at them when they do, it’s a repeat, get over it! This doesn’t mean 90210 will be cancelled cause it got a 0.1/0 in 18-49 for a REPEAT! Some of us are fans of these shows and you people moan when we make fun of your shows

    CBS is doing good. some kind of free money. though I don’t understand why they give up on summer, they could rule it, like the rest of the year.
