TV Ratings Tuesday: 'America's Got Talent', 'MasterChef', 'Hell's Kitchen' & 'Love in the Wild' All Down on Pre-4th Tuesday

Note ahead of the holiday overall TV viewing by adults 18-49 was down 12% on a relative basis and 3.9% on an absolute basis (average of 33% of adults 18-49 watching last Tuesday night, only 29.1% last night).

FOX was number one network in adults 18-49 while an all-repeat CBS was on top among total viewers.

On FOX, Hell's Kitchen earned a 1.9 rating, down four tenths from last week's 2.3 adults 18-49 rating. MasterChef was also down, earning only a 2.0 rating, down two tenths from last week's 2.2 among adults 18-49.

On NBC America's Got Talent scored a 2.3, down almost a full ratings point from last week's 3.2 adults 18-49 rating. Love in the Wild, garnered  a 1.3, down three tenths from last week's 1.6 adults 18-49 rating.

On the CW, The Catalina was even with last week's 0.2 adults 18-49 rating.

ABC and CBS were all repeats for the evening.

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    Hate to state the obvious but personally I think the comments are low because there’s nothing really new of interest on at the moment.

    When the CW starts to premiere their new shows and returning shows come back, you should be seeing hundreds of comments from CW fans arguing and debating trivial points about their fav shows, I call it the fanboy/girl wars.

    I guess in general once things slow down a bit on broadcast tv, comments do too. There’s always cable for decent discussions anyway :)

    At what point should NBC consider moving AGT to a spring run? What good is it really doing them in the summer – especially when they have so many holes in their lineup.

    I think the CW, if their shows don’t go anywhere, should just scrap their entire schedule and turn it back over to the affiliates and become something MY Network TV is right now.

    Why where the AGT ratings so low? And will this hurt it’s chances of renewal for a Season 8?

    The night before a big holiday and long holiday weekend; expected lower ratings than previous week of coarse.

    Hardline Pro, the AGT ratings were lower because last Tuesday was a performance show and this Tuesday was the first results show of the season. Talent show elimination/results episodes almost always have fewer viewers than their performance shows.
