   @Bea-I do not beleive that reruns count as adding on to the demo or ratings. R&I was repeated too at 10:00. R&I reruns are on this list several times. I have never watched it but I am going to give it a try. I am not defending anyone I just don’t beleive that is how the ratings are counted.

   Best to ignore trouble makers like that, I had the same problem with someone post stalking me recently, hassling me claiming I did something I didn’t lol. They clearly just want attention and its best not to give it to them.

   Must make the effort to see Storage Wars someday, after checking out Pawn Stars fairly recently I can see why they rate so highly, there’s clearly a demand for this type of show on American TV.

   I think more than anything the personalities of the people involved in these kind of shows is what draws in the viewers.

   I find it interesting and kind of great that every single showing of Rizzoli and Isles last nite made the list. And it topped the night in viewers and it was the top drama in both viewers and demo.

   Hey, do you have the ratings for Retired At 35, interested to see when TVLand makes its first original scripted cancellation so as to see what it perceives as a failure.

   All of the anti-Jane By Design posts humor me. I enjoy reading posts from people who have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. No one knows whether JBD will get renewed. My gut says it does. There is more to factor than target demos OR overall viewership. For example: 1) the show comes in under budget every week, unlike some of the networks other shows (i.e. Bunheads). 2) A decision had to be made on whether or not to tear down the JBD sets and unlike last time where the sets were torn down, this time they were kept standing and the network continues to rent the space (and no network likes to throw away money). 3) Great cast. 4) The kind of show ABC Fam wants on their network for the long haul.

   My gut is telling me JBD is cancelled, ABCF have new pilots in the works and they need to clear space/money.

   Unfortunately, I don’t think any of us can really predict what ABC Family is going to do.

   Maybe this is just my revionist history, but I really don’t remember most of the older ABC Fam shows ever doing that well (i.e. Greek, Wildfire, Lincoln Heights) and they all got at least three seasons, so I have no idea how to predict what is going or not, but then again, I never really looked into budgets/promotions. I know Kyle XY did well until Secret Life came on, and of course SL’s numbers are down as it’s well beyond veteran status. But that being said, it doesn’t look good for JBD with a strong lead in like PLL which is the network’s highest ranked show and it being summer, you would think it would be doing better.

   I’m hoping the strategy of putting Switched on in fall is just because they think it’s a strong enough show that can handle the competition, and not some nefarious plan to get rid of it, especially with them promoting a book and they have already started airing promos for it. And the order was 10, not 12. It did get cut down to 8, but it was from 10. They had a 22 episode order, ran 12 episodes Jan-March, were supposed to have 10 more, but now it’s 8. Don’t know why, but I really think we’ll see at least a season 2A for them, but I guess we’ll have to wait until after it’s done.

   Personally, I haven’t found myself into Bunheads, but they’ll probably get a pick up. I don’t know how well it will do in the spring though.

   Something needs to change though with ABC Family’s marketing and promotion. The way they split up their seasons are just odd at times. Some shows get ten month hiatuses, six months, eight months, and then they wonder why they lose viewers.

    I’ve got to stop coming on here. It makes me paranoid, especially since all my shows seem to get canceled at some point. I guess I’m bad luck.

    if 2 shows get the ax from abc family, jane by design will definitely be 1 of them. the other will either be bunheads or the lying game. i have a feeling the lying game is in big trouble when it comes back on. isn’t it on like a 10 month hiatus? the long hiatus is going to kill that show. jane by design gets the same kind of ratings that make it or break it got, and the network cancelled that show. whoever said comparing jane by design’s ratings to secret life’s is ridiculous is right. secret life is in its 5th season. jane by design is in its 1st. jane by design has just aired 15 episodes total. secret life has aired over 100. secret life can pull lower ratings and get away with it. jane by design cannot. if it came down to axing jane by design or secret life, you better believe the network would ax jane by design. i think the network will end up renewing pll, switched at birth as long as it does ok in the fall, bunheads as long as it holds steady this summer, and secret life for a short episode order for a 6th season.

    I agree that JaneBD is gone. No one cares about sets or budgets. They care about numbers. It was almost cancelled last time but it is just around for the final 10 to cover an open spot. And it’s a terribly show. They will keep Secret Life to finish it out, Liars because its their only “hit” and Bunheads because that is the deal they made, and it’s doing as good as anything else, without a lead in.
    Rizzoli and I is showing it has syndication legs.

    @Mystery – because of ABC Family’s strange schedule, (5, 6, 10 months off) they have slots they have to fill to get the ratings they need for that quarter to keep advertisers. They will keep a show that they have no intention of continuing just to fill that slot and do even a baby number. They do it all the time.

    cancelation: lying game, Secret Life

    Bunheads is a toss up…. a lot of politics for and against. probably more against.

    @Mystery, that is very funny. A show that has bottomed out well under a million, and it’s high is 1.3, in its hugely promoted first season, will get a pick up over the show that is, 1: rated higher in it’s fifth season, that 2. MADE this network (Secret Life), that 3. still in it’s fifth season gets more Teen Choice nominations than even PLL? (When Jane and Lying Game don’t even register?). Not to mention social media and publicity?

    They will shuffle the deck and start over with new pilots. They will keep Buns, Secret Life, PLL, and I think that is it.

    In 2012 it’s about so much more than ratings (especially for cable networks like ABCFam). It’s about profit margins, how much money is going in, coming out, retention… all of which JBD actually does pretty well at. Ratings are a factor (absolutely) but one of so many.

    And I disagree… Jane is far from a terrible show. Not to mention the production quality is far superior then any other show on ABCFam.
