   Should WC fans be worried? Those numbers don’t seem so good for a premiere…. and this is not an inexpensive show to produce.

   I don’t know all the deal points of ABC Family shows. And they all look the same to me from a production point of view – except Liars, which is the only show they have that looks like a real show. Obviously Jane is a very inexpensive show – but I think they would rather have an expensive hit (like Liars) than an inexpensive flop.

   Sadly Liars is no longer a “hit” at just over two million viewers. Quite the drop from its previous seasons. And I don’t think anyone (at least that counts) is calling Jane a flop.

   Like everyone is saying, if it comes down to one or the other between Secret Life and Jane by Design, Jane By Design will definitely be the one cancelled. As low as the Secret life ratings are right now, it was a fan favorite for a lot of years and is the longest running ABC family show to date. Networks like to give shows like that a proper farewell. They did it with Greek when it was the longest running at the time and it was on for a much shorter amount of time and pulling lower numbers than Secret Life is now. The Secret Life cast is under contract through season 6. Jane By Design’s numbers are similar to those of Make it or Break it and Chloe King. Not to mention Jane By Design has little to no outside competition (Dance Moms is the only thing I can think of), has the networks strongest possible lead in, and brought in Teri Hatcher as a special guest and is still doing poorly.

   I have a feeling that the elimination of those 2 Switched at Birth episodes might be because of the network’s scheduling/when Halloween falls. They always do the 13 nights of Halloween every year with nothing but Halloween programming so if the last 2 episodes conflicted they would have no choice but to get rid of them. Renewals really can’t be determined until after Switched at Birth airs because there is really no telling how it will do after a 6 month hiatus and a drop in the last season. The network seems to have more faith in it than they should so we’ll see.

   And @Mystery where do you think money comes from? Advertisers and commercials. The higher the rating the more money the show gets from its advertisers. People don’t want to waste their money on ads in shows that people don’t watch even if the sets are already built. And lets face it, you can tell none of the sets used on any of the network shows are particularly expensive anyway..

   Missing the point. Why pay to keep sets up if you have no intention of keeping a show? Something to think about.

   Covert Affairs looks like it will pick up the action this season, with our lead babe being thrown into even more risky operations under her new boss.

   PLL episode wasn’t that exciting this week. They should have gone for the Emily-Paige smooch but chickened out! I’m sure it will get better.

   On White Collar, I kinda thought it was ridiculous that after all Mozy’s work on finding a safe hideout that it was compromised in five minutes by some Google searching based off a phone call… But of course the goal is obviously to get Neal back in New York as soon as possible…’cause they FILM there! At least Mia Maestro was a treat…

   Rizzoli and Isles chickened out by putting the leads in caterer uniforms instead of hooker outfits! Lame!

   you are crazy if you think jane by design actually gets renewed over secret life. there is no way that will happen. it’s a toss up between the lying game and jane by design, but the lying game’s ratings were quite a bit better when it was on. if 1 show on the network gets axed, it will be jane by design. guaranteed.

   You’re the one missing the point. No decisions have been made yet and probably won’t until late Fall after Switched at Birth airs. They will keep the sets up until the decisions are made. It costs more money to shoot, edit, and advertise a show, especially one that no one watches. And by ABC Family standards Pretty Little Liars is absolutely a hit. It is the only show on the network to consistently pull in over 2 million viewers per episode. Jane By Design has never even seen numbers close to that. Viewership declines by season, it’s all part of it. Seasons 1-2 are usually the highest rated. When a show barely breaks 1 million in season 1 that is a clear cut sign it won’t get better.

    I’m not sure I understand your post. Is Bomer THE SHOW in your opinion or does his acting leave you cold? Am I the only one who sees two contradictory statements here?

    Also should White Collar fans worry about Matt becoming too big for the show and possibly leaving?

    Mystery reminds me of Bondoel or a Nine Lives of Chloe King troll. No matter what you say they are always right, and they don’t have anything logical to back up what they are saying. ABC Family will not cancel a show that has been on for five seasons, and aired over 100 episodes for a lack luster freshman show. Get real! Jane By Design has been given the network’s strongest lead-in, a big guest star, and now airing in the summer and the ratings still are not improving. It’s ABC Family’s lowest rated show right now as well, so that means it will clearly get the axe.

    Sorry, no guarantee on that one.
    JBD is doing better than Lying Game was last time it was on. Not to mention it’s retention after PLL is over 15% more then Lying Game was in that spot.

    My gut: JBD returns. And the announcement will be before the fall.

    You’re probably right about Secret Life.
    I think they cancel Lying Game.
    I think they keep JBD over Bunheads. Bunheads is doing barely better than JBD but way over budget and a nightmare production wise (from what I hear).

    The Lying Game was already renewed months ago! It was already confirmed to be coming back in January.

    3 new shows are suffering (TLG, JBD, Bunheads) and one one already renewed JBD is the most obvious choice to cancel. Bunheads has barely dropped in viewers and has not dropped in demo at all since the pilot and is the highest rated out of all of those 3 and that is with a weak lead-in proving it can maintain those numbers on its own. Pretty Little Liars is the only strong lead-in they have and it can only lead in one show and for January it looks like they have already decided that will be The Lying Game.

    Have they not canceled that laughing stock of a reality show yet? I thought I read that Bristol’s farce was moved out of primetime and into the evening news (11:00 P.M.) spot. Or did I miss something, and they moved it to the graveyard shift?

    I thought the Lifetime Network was better than this. I think it’s a good thing Kyle Massey didn’t have anything further to do with this show, but for coming up with the concept, I hope he wins his lawsuit.

    @Lyca, why should WC fans be worried, 1M 18-49 are excellent cable numbers for an evening anchor. If any fans should be worried its all those below 1M like CA, F&B, etc. WC will be on as long as its star wants to stay. WC is one of the top time shift shows too.

    Tessa, Bomer’s acting’s just wooden IMO. He is the reason people watch WC. Me too! He’s hot! DUH! I just mean take him out of the equation and there is no WC for 99% of the fans.
