A fourth season has been ordered for Disney Channel's "Good Luck Charlie," a hugely popular family sitcom that recently delivered the #1 cable telecast of the week (8.9 million, L+7 data) and the #1 telecast of the entire second quarter 2012 among Kids 6-11 (4 million, L+7 data) and Tweens (3.7 million, L+7 data). The announcement was made today by Adam Bonnett, Senior Vice President, Original Programming, Disney Channels Worldwide. The series presents authentic, kid-relatable stories told from the young characters' POV yet more nuanced towards the family. The third season storyline recently introduced a newborn baby into the Duncan household.

"The success of 'Good Luck Charlie' is a testament to the strong comedic writing of the inventive creative team and characters so artfully brought to life by the talented cast. Every kid wants to be part of the Duncan family, and we look forward to telling more stories that engage and entertain viewers in a fresh and relevant way," said Bonnett.

The series was created by Phil Baker and Drew Vaupen and is executive-produced by Baker, Vaupen and Dan Staley. Starring are: Bridgit Mendler as Teddy Duncan, Jason Dolley as PJ Duncan, Leigh-Allyn Baker as Amy Duncan, Bradley Steven Perry as Gabe Duncan, Mia Talerico as Charlie Duncan and Eric Allan Kramer as Bob Duncan. The current storyline recently introduced Baby Toby Duncan (casting will soon begin for the role).

In season four, Toby grows into a toddler and Charlie embarks on new play dates, while the entire Duncan household gets busier and is filled with entertaining milestones and daily amusements.  Amy’s role as a full-time mommy blogger propels her to celebrity status; Bob has a career mid-life crisis and begins contemplating his next move; PJ develops a passion for the culinary arts; Gabe forms a special friendship with a girl; and, with college fast approaching, Teddy and Spencer evaluate their relationship.

Disney Channel is a 24-hour kid-driven, family inclusive television network that taps into the world of kids and families through original series and movies.  Currently available on basic cable in over 99 million U.S. homes and to millions of other viewers on Disney Channels around the world, Disney Channel is part of the Disney/ABC Television Group.

Actually, the spin off of Lizzie McGuire was for ABC Family, not ABC. And yes, that’s true, Hilary wanted more $$$$$!!!

  • RHONJd

Sorry, you were right. It was for ABC,

  • RHONJd

If season 4 is the last season, I do hope their is a spin off. Maybe a spin off on Disney, ABC, or ABC Family. I think this would do great on ABC/ABC Family’s Wednesday comedy blocks.

  • disneychick

I love Good Luck Charlie and I hope that the fourth season won’t be the last but it probably will be. How ever in the past Disney hits like Sister Sister and Boy Meets World has lasted longer then the fourth season so maybe Good Luck Charlie will too.

Disney is smart and i doubt that few more years they will make a show starring MIA (Charlie) asa a spin-off that will show her growing up and watching Teddy’s Video Diaries!! I HOPE!!!!!
is iCarly Better?! most of it’s episodes are pointless and it got 6 seasons that’s why GOOD LUCK CHARLIE !! DESERVES MORE AND MORE!!

  • disney rocks

    I have two ideas for a spin-off-

-one focusing on Charlie as she has problems growing up, and watches Teddy’s video diaries
    – one focusing on Gabe giving Toby video diaries

Wasn’t the Suite Life on for more than 4 years. Part of it was a spin off, but it last a long time. If GLC is bringing Disney solid gold ratings then they’ll find a way to keep it for Season 5+. Teddy could easily go to Denver Community College (like Amy), which would have multiple episodes with Amy taking classes with Teddy, etc. Who knows. I could easily see a Season 5.

Both Suite Life series together have 6 seasons

@UMGuy423 I think Teddy could do much better than Denver Community College, which is probably where PJ would go……….

I feel like GLC is the last show in the era with HM, WOWP, SWAC, and Suite Life, since there have been characters from GLC that had appeared in those shows. Shake It Up, Austin & Ally, ANT Farm, and Jessie kind of have a separate audience who are a big younger.

I actually really like the new shows on Disney. It shows Disneys diversity. I honestly think there should be a spinoff with Charlie growing up with Gabe and Toby in the household. With Charlie being the only girl, it’ll be fun for her growing up with just boys and being annoyed.

But Disney already confirmed a family sitcom with a talking dog premiering this fall. The show sounds like fun & it looks like it could have a GLC lead in.

Good Luck Charlie is capable of having a fifth season. There are far more things they could do with this show.

After GLC, Shake it up will be the next flagship show. But sadly e.g: in wowp, when Alex moved out, that pretty much ended wowp. Hopefully Teddy wont get into college!

This is probably going to be the last season cuz all shows on disney end on the 4th season but hopefully they will make a sequel show like they did with zack and cody. If they do make a sequel show its probably going to be called Good Luck Tobey.

Who’d of thought that a sitcom about an intact family would make it these days? Glad to see that they still can! Hope that other networks take a lesson from this!

  • Kalleb

I am so excited. But Disney only keeps shows for 3-4 seasons and that’s it. :\ I hope they break that tradition in 2013 and renew Good Luck Charlie for a 5th season. :)

  • stanley

I do hope that GLC does not go down the same road as Wizards (2 seasons, a film, 2 seasons to end). It is a great show!

  • gabby5678910

    omg toby is so cute:)#5

  • gabby5678910

cant wait for #6&7 hahahahaha :)

  • Kein

Well first of all, glad to hear a season 4 of GLC, REALLY EXCITED. But i hope it doesnt get cancelled or doesnt end at season 4. GLC should go on until Toby graduates. That would be really cool. If that doesnt work out, do a spinoff becuz the show is really funny and i think it has a great cast. I would really like to see how gabe, charlie and toby turn out. So pleeeze, dont stop at season 4, keep going. GO GLC YOU GUYS ROCK:)
