E!’s Ryan Seacrest Gets the First Interview With The Iconic Band For The Premiere Of Its Music Video: ‘Settle Down’
(Los Angeles, CA, July 12, 2012) - E!’s Ryan Seacrest recently sat down with the members of No Doubt for an intimate conversation about everything from music and fame to friendship and family. To the delight of fans worldwide, the band is making music together again and will release its highly anticipated album, “Push and Shove,” via Interscope Records on September 25."Settle Down," is the first single off the album and the music video will premiere exclusively on E! along with Seacrest's sit-down interview, the first the band has given since reuniting . The “E! Entertainment Special: No Doubt: Settle Down” premieres on July 16 at 8:00 PM, ET/PT.
The video, which No Doubt bassist Tony Kanal describes as a “parking lot party” and “is about getting back together and making music again,” was shot in Los Angeles and directed by long-time No Doubt collaborator Sophie Muller. When asked about “Settle Down,” lead singer Gwen Stefani tells Seacrest, “I hate talking about what the songs are about because I feel like I already put so much into the song, of myself, but I think that song, and a lot of the record, is just about being overwhelmed by so much going on and how to balance all of it. That’d be a good way of summing it up.”
Seacrest also asked about the group’s secret to success, to which Stefani replies. “I don’t think there’s a secret to it but I know one thing was that we never planned on success. Like, that was not the goal. The goal was, ‘let’s get together on Thursday and Sunday. I’m going to ask my dad for $5 dollars so I can rent a mic and we’re going to, like, jam and have fun and put a show on for each other.' So, when “Just a Girl” got on the radio [nine years later], it was like a miracle. I don’t know what was better – the first 9 years, before the commercial success or after that because they both had their own really amazing things about them, you know?"
Seacrest went on to ask the group about transitioning back into the spotlight. Drummer, Adrian Young replies, “you know I noticed it more through my kid’s eyes, because I have the oldest child. So as the attention goes back to No Doubt and less on being a suburban father, that’s when I realize ‘oh wow I’m in this pretty huge band.’”
During the sit down interview, the band members also talk about their children, their strong friendship and how they create their songs in the studio.
Don’t miss this rare, up-close and personal, interview with one of the biggest bands in music when the “E! Entertainment Special: No Doubt: Settle Down” premieres on July 16 at 8:00 PM, ET/PT only on E!
