Why isn’t ABC repeating Revenge? you’d think they’d want to capitalize on the buzz and get a few new viewers this summer before the big move to Sunday.

  • John A

    Revenge repeats badly thats why.

  • SJ

    @Jeff R

Serialized shows repeat horribly. Revenge probably wouldn’t get more than a 0.5-0.6 on a repeat. The real question is why are they not repeating Happy Endings and Apartment 23. It seems like ABC really has it out for them for some reason.

  • Jeff R

Understood, but heck, even if you gain two tenths of a ratings point for the fall, that’s huge. I’d think they’d suck it up and deal with ~.6 over the summer for the gains it might see in the fall as a result.

  • Jeff R

@SJ, I was going to say the same thing about Apt. 23 and HE – they seem to already be getting the CT treatment. Doesn’t make sense nor does it give one much confidence in them come this fall.

  • rob60990

Final Witness is a good show. Too bad it’s not doing so hot but it at least beat that Glass House crap ABC can’t stop hyping up.

  • Nick

ABC is big on summer reality programming, and it’s worked until this year (The Bachelorette, Wipeout, Secret Millionaire). Dancing With the Stars and Extreme Makeover:Home Edition were summer programming at the beginning. Also, except for Final Witness’s Fourth episode, nothing has gotten under 1.0. This is this last week’s ratings:

    The Bachelorette: 2.5
    Wipeout (Thu): 1.8
    Wipeout (Tue): 1.5
    Secret Millionaire: 1.5
Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition: 1.5
    Rookie Blue: 1.4
    NY Med: 1.2
    20/20: 1.2
Trust Us With Your Life (9:00): 1.1
    Final Witness: 1.1
    TUWYL (9:30): 1.0
    Duets: 1.0
    Glass House: 1.0

Suddenly CBS’s repeat ratings don’t seem so depressing. ;-)
Since Final Witness is probably very expensive. TUWYL is the new series most likely to be renewed. Maybe NY Med can come back if someone substitutes for Dr. Oz, as I doubt he could come back for a second season, with his 100 other shows.

^Sorry I meant Fourh of July episode, not fourth episode.

  • JD

AGT really lost a LOT of viewers with Stern.

  • xfire

@JD AGT’s viewership loss isn’t because of Stern but is likely because the show has been constantly changing timeslots and viewers don’t know when it’s on. Last night was the first time AGT was on a Wednesday this season.

  • JD

@xfire Even before the timeslot thing – the premiere had 5 million viewers LESS than last year.
Yes, the premiere was earlier….and so on…I think Stern plays a role in this.

But I personally am a fan of Stern. Not of AGT though.

  • Ultima

    @xfire
Last night was the first time AGT was on a Wednesday this season.

    Wrong.

because the show has been constantly changing timeslots

It’s aired late twice on Monday (Olympics Trials) and early once on Tuesday (Love in the Wild premiere), and they changed to their normal timeslots for live shows (Tuesdays at 8 and Wednesdays at 9) a week late to avoid the 4th of July.

    “Constant” changes, indeed!

  • Red

“Even before the timeslot thing – the premiere had 5 million viewers LESS than last year. Yes, the premiere was ea”rlier….and so on…I think Stern plays a role in this.”

The premiere started at when season finals of major shows were happening including “Dancing with the Stars” And if you are a Stern fan, you would have known that he had no say over when they wanted to air the shows, so don’t give me the “I’m a Stern fan” bit because if you were, you would have listen to him discussing about the shows air dates and wondering about them.

    “Constant” changes, indeed!”

Are you saying that they were not only changes?

  • MIKE.D

J d. You are a moron. Agt is the number one show everynight it’s been on. No lost viewers eith stern. Infact from last year the show is up average of 800,000 viewers. Do your homework before you make fictional comments.

  • MIKE.D

One more thing jd.z Agt has an average of above 10,000,000 per new shows. As xfire said, the show was on for the first time on Wednesday lastnight. No one knows when new episodes are on. As for the premier show it was going against many finally shows. Blame the geniuses at nbc for that. Stern is refreshing. Everyone knows it.

  • Ultima

    @Mike D
Agt is the number one show everynight it’s been on.

No, it’s been beat several times this season.

the show was on for the first time on Wednesday lastnight.

No, its Wednesday premiere was two weeks ago.

No lost viewers eith stern. Infact from last year the show is up average of 800,000 viewers.

No. Last season it averaged 11.8 million viewers for new episodes, this season only 10.6 million; it’s down ~10% year-to-year.

Do your homework before you make fictional comments.

You should follow your own advice or people might think that you’re the moron.

  • Roger

JD, do yourself a favor and stop making foolish comments because you only make yourself look stupid.

Howard hasn’t cost then AGT any ratings.

The premier of AGT had 5 million less than last year because NBC moved it up in the schedule, so it was competing with 1st run shows like DWTS, Two and a Half Men, and How I met Your Mother.

NBC had never done that before in the history of AGT.

Also, the reason Wednesday’s AGT had less viewers than Tuesday is because it is a results show. They NEVER do as good as performance shows.

  • Gange

It looks like the SFN losers are posting on here tonight. The ratings are not going down. You cannot compare a set scheduled show from previous years to a “who knows if it’s on tonight or if it’s a repeat if it is” show that’s aired at different times every week on different nights. The show is doing great and NBC is ecstatic over the ratings.

  • Red

“No. Last season it averaged 11.8 million viewers for new episodes, this season only 10.6 million; it’s down ~10% year-to-year”

It did not face that much competition last season and it had “The Voice” on with it on certain nights. Not to mention the fact that it had set nights when they aired. Not like now when the show is bouncing around the network between Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and has reruns all around it.

“It looks like the SFN losers are posting on here tonight.”

Some of them are at the Deadline Hollywood site posting the same nonsense.

  • Ultima

    @Gange
The ratings are not going down.

Yes, they are. They are dropping as the season progresses (which is normal) and they are down year-to-year. Give all of the excuses that you want, but it is a fact that AGT’s ratings and viewership are down.

You cannot compare a set scheduled show from previous years to a “who knows if it’s on tonight or if it’s a repeat if it is” show that’s aired at different times every week on different nights.

Yes, you can. AGT is typically repeated heavily and has to do some sports dodging. It had to do a bit more this year and changed nights halfway through, but it’s not changing timeslots and nights every week. If you need to exaggerate, you probably don’t have a good point to begin with.

Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe there’s millions of people who want to watch AGT, but are too stupid to figure out what time it starts. That would certainly be a more logical conclusion than, say, a show in its 7th season is experiencing moderate year-to-year declines, right?
