R & I is about two strong female characters who have a nice female bromance (I don’t think there’s a word for that) and some good secondary characters. I watched it live until White Collar came back (now I catch it later). I tried Franklin & Bash, but was turned off. The first five minutes of one episode featured a Playboy style party. The first five minutes of the second episode I tried featured the guys welcoming an attractive woman who was to be their assistant, but, when a mistake was discovered, trying to dump her less endowed replacement. The TNT person who thinks these two shows are compatible is certifiable. I can see there being viewers for both shows; just not the same viewers.
Pretty Little Liars back up to a 1.0. good to see that and good that Jane by Design is up as well. R and I up more in viewers and the same 1.1 rating too. It seems to be steady now. Does anybody know how Hollywood Heights did last night. they put Victorious before it starting a couple of nights ago. the other night.
Jane By Design has absolutely ZERO competition, has ABC Family’s top show as a lead-in, gets Teri Hatcher to guest-star, and still gets very mediocre ratings.
Can anyone please tell me what are the chances of Franklin and Bash survival? I love this show. Also wondering why the cast is not tweeting that much as compared to last year. I think that might help the ratings a bit.
I don’t think TNT is exepecting a huge audience for Franklin and Bash like over 5 mill or so?
@Tessa, NPH is no MB. Unfortunately some people have quit because of MB coming out because they said so. Sad I agree. Not many I hope. Maybe he just needs to quit doing crap like Magic Mike.
Jane By Design Never had a proper lead-in its lead in had about 1.7 million viewers and Jane premiered in a 1.61 since the beginning they were low but Season 1B has had steady ratings it should get renewed the fans have been steady
Not terrible for Jane By Design. It will be a tough call between it and Bunheads.
Jane By Design had Switched at Birth as its original lead in. That is the network’s second highest rated show! Now it has the networks highest rated show. It always had a proper lead in and it never had any competition. It just sucks.
Season 5 of White Collar might be the last one. If it even gets renewed.
@DM Both Jane by Design and Switched at Birth are great shows and switched at birth had amazing numbers for Season IA .Season 1B (when Jane premiered by the way) on the other hand dropped alot it was down into 1.4 for a bit it is a great show but it lost viewers it wasn’t the monster it was back when it premiered . I hope Switched at Birth comes back strong for its fall premiere though
It’s not a tough call between Jane BD and Bundeads. Jane has had two shots of episodes, behind two different lead-ins, and it has proven where it is. It’s a barely over a million show. That is not going to change.
Bunheads is from a high profile creator, it was a much better reviewed show, and it’s in it’s first run of episodes. It has come close to and occasionally beaten it’s lead in.
Kendra on Top ratings??? I always ask, and not a peep out of the people who run this site, must mean it’s really Kendra On The Bottom, eh?
Workaholics and tosh were new last night. Great episodes. Especially workaholics.
@RS the R&I bromance is a womance. I got that from their TV Guide cover they were on. I agree R&I is not like F&B.
Rizzoli and Isles, still topping the night with most viewers and top drama in the demo. I wonder what the 25-54 demo is since this is the one that cable sponsors seem to look for. I don’t get why people are arguing that this show skews old. Maybe it actually skews young. They have a really solid and huge fanbase among young people. Anywho, this show will be around for a while. After The Closer ends, it will be TNT’s highest rated show. Only 2nd in the 18-49 demo to Falling Skies which it has met and beat in the past. As far as why R&I is popular, it’s all about the chemistry between Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander. They are magical together. Sasha’s Dr. Isles is one of the most endearing characters I have ever seen. She’s a genius while being endearing and amusing as heck. But really, the entire cast is just the best. That’s it…
Not bad for White Collar in its fourth season, holding steady since the premier. I’m happy. R&I has more total viewers but the demo numbers are about the same and it’s in line with other USA shows. Interesting re Covert Affairs picking up more viewers but apparently skewing older? Huh. Franklin and Bash does not appear to be doing well. It doesn’t appear to be keeping R&I’s audience.
R&I has really excellent writing and the lead characters are just perfect for their roles and their chemistry is excellent. Still waiting for them to “L”-out, tho!
As a computer security guy, I was thrilled to see Frost using nmap, a network scanning tool, to locate the perp! Last time I saw nmap referenced in media was the Matrix movies.
Covert Affairs has started out strong this season. The chemistry between Goram and Perabo is excellent – you know sooner or later the characters are going to hook up – but maybe not this season. The developing conflict between Kari (my favorite on the show) and newcomer Clarke is going to be good. The fallout from Jay’s assassination is probably going to take center stage at some point. Looking forward to the rest of this season.
Leverage started out strong on Sunday, too. BTW.
White Collar’s first two episodes were great, although I still find it amusing that after Mozy’s long preparations for retirement the two were discovered with five minutes of Googling by the Feds… Lame!
Mia Maestro was smokin’! Gregg Henry is always good as a villain.
PLL has been good so far this season. The new A is as bad as the old one if less prolific with the SMS messages. The plot keeps getting thicker, and even the comedy gets better (“I do want my own cheese fries…”
.)
Jane by Design is starting to remind me of Secret Circle, because of poor retention. A lot of people said TSC would get renewed, and retention out of TVD didn’t matter. But clearly it did, and I think that was a big reason why The CW canceled it. It had the strongest lead-in on the network, and could not do better then the network average. Hart of Dixie was actually beating it with a much weaker lead-in.
Bunheads is very similar to Hart of Dixie it’s not doing great numbers, but the retention is strong and it sometimes grow in total viewership out of it’s lead-in. Jane By Design is on the chopping block imo.
@Jenny
agreed. They throw out concepts and see what sticks. Jane has just never caught on – nor did Lying Game, or Nine lives. You can’t compare them to Secret Life, PLL or MIOBI – whose first season all did over two or three, or Switched at B, which was over three for ten before it collapsed.
They have a lot invested in Bundeads. They will try to grow it. I really think every other show but PLL is out the window – we’ll see about Switched. Fingers crossed
@KarenM
May I ask what you’re smoking? Magic Mike has been a huge success and if anything, has put MB on the map (that and his appearance on Glee.) If there’s anything to worry about it’s him getting too big for WC and outgrowing the character of Neal Caffrey. It would be a shame to lose him because I assure you, new projects will be coming his way. If White Collar’s ratings are suffering (which I can’t tell because this is the first year I’m watching it live) it’s because something other than Matt Bomer.
