What happened at Days last week? I had to quit watching, couldn’t take anymore of the Sami show.

    Yay for GH though.

  • MBmomof3

Happy for GH, but wonder why the other soaps are down. They have all held my interest lately.

  • Darcy

I see GH is still down overall from last year. I haven’t even been reading the daily recaps on GH anymore because I doubt that I will start watching it again with the new writers.

I thought Y&R was great last week so I wonder why they are down.

  • pinevalleylover

Go GH!!!!! I have found the show very entertaining so i am glad it went up in viewers. Glad to see Y&R getting acceptable numbers. B&B is still in my mind the most improved soap. As for days those are bad numbers. Another new low in women 18-49 is not good.

  • Richard

I had posted this information in the previous thread, but in case anyone did not see it and it interested, the viewer totals for the daytime network talk shows for the week of July 9…

    The View (ABC): 3.06 million
    The Chew (ABC): 2.12 million
    The Talk (CBS): 2.06 million
Good Afternoon America (ABC): 1.80 million

  • JayTN

Sorry…ignore my previous post, as the information has already been posted in a previous post.

  • Richard

Sorry Jay, I wasn’t sure if you were around and I just went ahead.

GH and Days both got hurt big time by Thursday and Friday’s ratings. Has Days ever hit a 1.5 for a daily rating?

  • Darcy

Good Afternoon America ratings aren’t that bad. I wonder if they will cancel GH.

GH is now down 6 weeks in a row compared to last year at this time. This week they lost 112,000 viewers in the age group of 18-49 compared to last year an overall viewers 124,000. This isn’t good for GH but Days is also not looking so good.

  • Bart

YAY! The numbers for “Y & R” continue their descent – this plot-driven mess of a show is getting beyond ridiculous! NEW WRITERS PLEASE!!

  • rob60990

DAYS is a trainwreck. These bad ratings don’t shock me. Luckily the new writing material starts soon.

“Good Afternoon America ratings aren’t that bad.”

For a premiere week they are horrible. It couldn’t even beat that crapfest The Talk.

  • Richard

I had not noticed until this week for some reason, but B&B is now above The View too. The View had been running a close second to Y&R for awhile. They really aren’t off that much from last year but B&B is just up that much. So now that knocks The View down to 3rd.

As we talked about in the last thread GAA put a dent in The Talks ratings. And one might wonder if they also didn’t affect Days ratings since in some parts of the country they air opposite Days and The Talk.

The Talk is now within 11-12 thousand of Days in the 18-49. That is definitely not good for Days.

Looking at the talk show ratings, I am surprised that The Chew and GAA are so far apart in total viewers but so close in the 18-34 which means that GAA is also skewing younger.

I’m sure ABC is looking at GAA with mixed emotions. I am sure they wanted it to do better, but I am also sure that they drew some away from The Talk and that it is doing better The Revolution did.

  • Richard

Rob, They did beat The Talk in the 18-34 demo. And remember The Talk was whipping The Revolution and setting records every week. So GAA did put a dent in their rise.

  • Richard

Darcy, GH didn’t lose this week.

They actually gained in Total and 18-49 but are still down from 6 weeks ago and last year.

They reached their high the week of May 28 with 666,000 in the 18-49 which put them up from last year. Since they gained this week they made up some ground — now they are only down 109,000 in 6 weeks and still down 112,000 from last year.

So still alot of ground to make up. That is still the key demo they have to pick up to make them safe from cancellation.

  • Chrisann

I think GH is great. Todays cliffhanger(s)…..wow! Can’t wait till Mondays show. Tood bad about Days…not my favorite but hate to see any soap go down in ratings.

  • Thuggie

Ouch Days, I hope they rebound! well thank the lord the new writers take over next week and the big cliffhanger is happening, I saw the promo and it looks pretty good, so I hope that helps Days to grow and get better! :D

    Go All soaps!

  • Richard

The biggest thing that is going to hurt Days from what I understand is that they tape so far ahead now (6 months) that even if what starts airing under the new writers doesn’t work and make the ratings bump up — they are going to have a tough time getting changes made before Feb sweeps when NBC will have to start making decisions about replacing it in the Fall.

That 6 month schedule really hurts them.

  • Alex

Kinda not surprised GAA would skew younger than The Talk. I’m curious as to how it ranks against Kathie Lee & Hoda’s Today Hour, because GAA seems to be most similar in format to that. And, maybe that’s what ABC would probably use to interpret the ratings.

  • Jack

I don’t care what anyone says, ABC must be missing OLTL’s 2.7 million viewers. Low-budget shows are not worth watching. DAYS is like shopping at Walmart, thrifty and uneventful. The true test for GH is when it moves up an hour. I think there could be a bounce, but I think the OLTL cast should depart and leave this soap to die on its own. Y&R is still the leader of the pack and despite the weekly drop, I’m confident is will not sink below 4 million at least until 2014.

  • Darcy

Richard, Sorry I read the ratings wrong. GH and Days are looking real bad right now. I haven’t watched Days since since the mid 90’s so I don’t even know what is going on with that show. GH I use to read the daily recap hoping that GH would make a come back, but I have now given up on GH being a good soap again so I’m not even reading the daily recaps. I think it is very sad what has happened to GH it use to be my favorite soap. GH was the one soap I never missed even when I was in college in the late 90’s I would record GH when I quit watching all the other soaps. Then in 2005 when I became a mom and decided to stay home and raise kids I started watching GL, ATWT, OLTL and GH everyday. Now the only soap I watch is Y&R.
