   True blood is absolutely terrible right now. This Sunday’s episode was the worst of the entire series. It is not good TV. I will give it the rest of this season, but if it doesn’t improve I think I’ll stop watching. There is a reason total viewership for the Sunday episodes is down 600,000-700,000 viewers from the previous 2 seasons. There is a reason Alan Ball is leaving after this season. The show simply isn’t good anymore. It has run it’s course.

   There is a reason why it got renewed for season 6. Its ratings are still strong and #1 show for sunday nights for the past 5 years. Every tv show will go down eventually…even if it has good story lines. Thats just the way tv works.

   The ratings are down 10+% from the previous season. That’s a substantial drop in just one season. I have watched True Blood since the start. The show had me anticipating each new episode for the first 3 seasons. It is not the same anymore. The writing is now lazy and no longer as witty as it once was. I don’t take any joy in saying this. But I’m just saying what I feel. Of course the ratings are still good. Half the audience will tune in just to stare at Alex Skarsgard and the dude who plays Alcide. Another segment is loyal to the show and still watches in hopes that the show will regain it’s former quality(I am in this group, but won’t be if the rest of this season sucks as much as the past couple of episodes).

   Maybe it’s just not your cup of tea, but Breaking Bad is NOT the kind of show you can just pick up in season 5 and really get the full enjoyment out of it. Not understanding what they’ve gone thru to get where there are would take away a lot of what is great about the show.

   Awesome work, True Blood. What an episode! Breaking Bad, as well, was brill. But seriously, is no one watching Weeds?? It’s the best season in years. Weeds is back for it’s final season FYI those who didnt know!

   Then your opinion doesn’t count, dude. Anyone commenting that they think a heavily serialized show’s FIFTH season premiere came off as crap, thus disregarding four seasons worth of plot and character development, can disparage the show all they want. But I would argue that the majority of people WHO HAVE ACTUALLY WATCHED THE SHOW, would automatically lack any respect for your opinion.

    I’m sort of with LJ on True Blood’s quality. It’s still fun to watch but the show obviously isn’t as good as it was for the first couple of seasons. Way too many characters and story lines and the characters are not even likeable. Really sad when you see what Ball was capable of with Six Feet Under.

    @silvit — are you making this stuff up? Royal Pains did a pretty consistent 1.4 every week and went as high as 1.6. I’m not even going to check out your other stuff.
