CBS SPORTS BROADCASTS “RBC CANADIAN OPEN” AS TOURNAMENT
RETURNS TO HAMILTON GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB THIS WEEKEND, JULY 28-29
The RBC CANADIAN OPEN, Canada’s national championship, returns to Hamilton Golf and Country Club in Ancaster, Ontario for the first time since 2006 with a strong field that includes Sunday’s British Open winner Ernie Els, two-time RBC Canadian Open winner Jim Furyk, Matt Kuchar and Hunter Mahan. CBS Sports covers all the action from Ancaster, broadcasting the third and final rounds on Saturday, July 28 and Sunday, July 29 (3:00-6:00 PM, ET, both days), live on the CBS Television Network.
Bill Macatee anchors CBS Sports’ coverage of the RBC Canadian Open from the 18th hole tower this weekend alongside Ian Baker-Finch. Gary McCord calls the action at the 17th hole and Peter Kostis at the 16th hole.
Lance Barrow is Coordinating Producer of CBS Sports’ golf coverage. Steve Milton directs. Harold Bryant is Executive Producer and Vice President, Production, CBS Sports.
Last year, Sean O’Hair came from three strokes behind in the final round to force a sudden-death playoff with Kris Blanks at the RBC Canadian Open at Shaugnessy Golf and Country Club in Vancouver. O’Hair won with a bogey on the first extra-hole. The last Canadian to win this tournament was Pat Fletcher in 1954. Canada’s only major championship winner, Mike Weir (2003 Masters®), has yet to win the Canadian Open but came close in 2004 when he lost a playoff to Vijay Singh. Weir, in his 22nd start at the Open, is part of an impressive field that includes Els, Furyk, Kuchar, Mahan, Singh, Retief Goosen, Bo Van Pelt, Rory Sabbatini, Camilo Villegas, Ryo Ishikawa, Brandt Snedeker, Jeff Overton, D.A. Points, Jason Bohn, Charlie Wi, Stuart Appleby, Kyle Stanley, Charley Hoffman, John Huh, Trevor Immelman, J.B. Holmes, Tim Clark, David Duval, Jhonattan , Ben Curtis and John Daly, who finished tied for ninth last year, his first top-Ten since 2005.
