AMC has decided not to renew The Killing for what would have been its third season.The network's official statement is below:
“After much deliberation, we’ve come to the difficult decision not to renew ‘The Killing’ for a third season. AMC is incredibly proud of the show and is fortunate to have worked with such a talented team on this project, from showrunner Veena Sud and our terrific partners at Fox Television Studios to the talented, dedicated crew and exceptional cast.”

One word: Forbrydelsen. Mireille Enos did a fine job as Sarah Linden, but Sofie Gråbøl rules as Sarah Lund. See the Danish original! The crime is solved at the end of a 20 episode season, A new crime is featured (and solved) in the second 10 episode season and season 3 is to be shown in Denmark in September.
AMC didnt make as much of a KILLING as they thought they would so they killed The Killing. The should do a movie called Killing The Killing
So did they figure out who killed her?
I’m OK with this. Now what they SHOULD have done is combined seasons 1 and 2 into a much smoother and coherent story and called it quits. It could have gone down as one of the best shows ever. Instead we got two mediocre and often annoying watered-down seasons. I hope Veena Sud learns a lesson from this.
I am so disappointed that the show was not renewed – it seems the higher the quality of the show the less likely it is to get renewed – I waited with great anticipation for each episode – I hope AMC will reconsider it’s decision.
