Someone wrote heather is leaving gh oh no! she and todd r the only reasons i watch please find a way to keep her on bc todd and heather have great chemistry they keep me laughing. I left the show last year after brenda left starting watching again bc of todd and the lunatic heather now i guess i will be tuning out again. They need heather and todd bc the other storylines just suck

  • Andy

GH has been must watch for the past few weeks. Robin Mattson is amazing, it does look like her storyline is almost over. I hope they can find a way to keep her on. It sounds like GH is listening and will be ending the “Mob Princess” storyline! The Todd/Johnny/Carly storyline is gonna be great. It looks like the Jason/Sam baby story will be resolved soon in a happy ending. Anna has kicked butt as Police Commissioner! GH is on a roll!

The Daysaster cliff hanger was decent but I’ve seen better from Days. The lead up was weak and I found scenes jumping all over the place…Brady/Chad find Gabi and the next scene Gabi finds Melanie…how did they seperate? I’ve liked the storylines recently but I’ve found the writing and filming hasn’t been the greatest. Hopefully the new writing team can get Days back to the way it was in the late 90’s, early 2000’s. The Coronation Massacre was the best cliff hanger of Days time…they could have done so much more with the Daysaster…what a shame…

  • Talent Level

The DAYSASTER turned out better than I thought it would I actually have a craving to see that episode in a couple of weeks.

Hopefully Robin Mattison doesn’t leave because Heather is awesome on GH.

B&B has been so enjoyable lately, great acting from Hope’s actor.

DIE BRADLEY BELL DIE.. B&B is an insult to all those ppl in the soap world who make an effort, work hard so that viewers can be entertained it shows how much they respect and value the viewers as people. Contrary to Bradley Bell who should be replaced on B&B..Bell is a shameful one side writer who keep favoring KKL on this show and make it all about her family the Logans!!! Good actors are fired why viewers are BULLIED to watch a horrific triangle with Bruk ‘s daughter in the mist over and over again. while other characters are butchered, sidelined, used and abused or completely absent to boost the Logans !! I wish TPTB at CBS had some integrity left, to intervene they probably are agree with Bell not to give the show balance. The all upfront one sided attitude from the writers and some of the actors is really despicable!!

I think GH was great GH is more a guy soap we like the mob

  • me

We like the mob. We DON’T like the gummy bear mob that passes for real mob on GH. Thankfully, the Holy Trinity of Sonny, Jason and Carly has been largely absent for a while, which I am sure is the reason for the higher ratings last week. As soon as Mumbles McMumbleson and the Roided Goiter (Jason) start sucking the life out of the show again, the ratings will go back down.

TV Critics Tour: ‘General Hospital’ boss expects show to survive
Thursday July 26, 2012 3:58 PM By Verne Gay

BEVERLY HILLS — Whether you care or don’t care about soaps, the fate of “General Hospital” should be of interest (and possibly concern) to anyone who loves TV; this is the last man/woman left standing at ABC. There was a time when “GH,” now in its 50th year, was one of the most important series on all of television (though admittedly that was decades ago). Will “GH” survive? Will “GH” follow “One Life to Live” and “All My Children” to that great big soap graveyard in the sky?

There are indicaitons that ABC, which handed “GH” a one-year extension in April, still very much wants to put a new-cheaper-talkier franchise in its place. But there are also indications that “GH” does have a future beyond this year. One clue was in evidence Thursday morning, when the entire cast, along with former “One Life to Live” castmembers who have been incorporated into the show, turned up to face the press. It’s rare, even almost unheard of, for a daytime serial to get a turn on the stage at one of these things.

“All I can say is, they invited us here,” said Frank Valentini, the new executive producer who came over from “OLTL.” “That’s a great sign. [Disney and ABC] are very excited about the 50th and playing with a lot of different things” tied to the anniversary, including nice promotional moments like this one. He added that he’s “confident” the show will survive beyond this year.

The word “confident,” you won’t be surprised to learn, hasn’t been used by a soap producer in years.

    Since someone asked earlier:

Sherwood said he was so pleased with “GMA” that he all but promised ABC would find a more permanent slot for “Good Afternoon America,” the hour-long afternoon extension that has been running as a “test” for nine weeks this summer.

“I’m optimistic,” he said.“It makes sense to find a way to keep the momentum going.”

This is from the Daily News.

Unfortunately for ABC, by giving back the 3:00 p.m. (ET) hour to the affiliates to entice them to air “Katie”, the network only has two hours to play with – I’m assuming that “The View” (which competes against “The Price is Right” at 11:00 a.m. is not going anywhere.

Unless ABC opts to cancel “The Chew”, GH is the only other option to get cut loose. Since ABC Entertainment President Paul Lee praised “The Chew” in his interview (linked by another poster on page one), it would seem as though the network is committed to the series…at least for now. So, the ax would then logically fall on GH.

A possible compromise (which would have to be worked out between ABC and its affiliates) could be to have GAA return to the schedule, but air at 10:00 a.m., before “The View” and in direct competition with the Hoda/Kathie Lee hour of NBC’s “Today”. That would also GH to stay put at 2:00 p.m. and preserve “The Chew” as well. This move, as I mentioned, would have to be ironed out with the affiliates, which would have to cede the 10:00 a.m. hour back to the network. With all of this being said, I don’t know how likely this scenario could be, but it could possibly make everyone happen.

  • JayTN

I just happened to think of this after I posted my scenario to keep “The Chew”, GAA, and GH on the ABC Daytime schedule. If GAA were to air at 10:00 a.m., ABC would have to rename the franchise, as it would no longer be in the “Afternoon”.

  • Kayla Rae

Robin Mattson is the only thing GH has going for it…and she’ll be gone soon!

Days’ cliffhanger was incredible!!! Can’t wait for it’s welcome return in August. Days rocks and is THE best!

  • Derrick

All three Y&R, B&B and DAYS have been a success lately. Especially the cliffhanger in which DAYS will probably get a big bump in ratings next week!!!!

Best news is that MAB is out of Y&R but JFP, I’m not really sure what to think of her!!!! Let’s just hope she revives the show!!!! A bit concerned but let’s see how she does!!

  • jaydawg

With the wake of the shooting in Aurora Colorado, what the hell was NBC thinkin of airing this awful dreaded massacre shooting for this so call Cliffhanger… Obviously u didnt’ have no respect for the people that died of that horrible shooting!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO Sad

  • TV Gord

@jawdawg, “obviously” you don’t seem to know that soaps are taped weeks in advance, so it would be impossible to change the storyline one week before it’s set to air. “Obviously”, you don’t watch Days, because the cliffhanger was not a “massacre shooting”. It was an explosion in the tunnels that run under the city.

By your same logic, why are movie theaters still showing The Dark Knight Rises. “Obviously”, they don’t have any respect for the people who died, either.

  • RG 3 vs Luck

I think GH should really get TJ & Molly on more and really prop up Starr & Michael to get that demo up but outside of that GH is doing terrific right now. I think they’ll get OLTL numbers in the coming year.

Sometimes I still wonder if there’s a market for these soaps on cable. I just noticed that Hollywood Heights has started to really grow to a million viewers after a really rough start. I just want one of these networks to try it at least once just to test the market.

  • RG 3 vs Luck

I love the cliffhanger on DAYS also, that show has been awesome lately. The dead weight has left the show so I’m expecting DAYS to move faster now especially with the new writers.

Y&R and B&B have been amazing lately, I’m hoping some of the viewers find Y&R in the fall which can only help B&B even more although B&B has been holding its own during the Y&R decline this past year.

I think its looking more than good for GH to stay around beyond 2013. This show has momentum right now that it really hasn’t had in like 5 years.

I’ve always thought that ABC would keep GAA even though the numbers have been extremely bad like The Revolution but I think The Chew and Katie are going to be the ones replaced if ratings don’t pickup here. ABC won’t make that mistake again with GH. A lot of the time executives live on the edge and are not hopeful unless the network guarantees them that the show will survive longer and I think Valentini is really confident.

  • Sophie

GH has been really good the last couple weeks. I love Anna and Heather being back. At first the OLTL gang was hard to get use too. But I now love them. Days I’m no longer watching, took it off my dvr last week. I don’t like the way NBC treats some of the actors. Carrie, Jack,Austin, and Bo. It’s like a slap in the face for some of us. Terrible send off for Carrie and Austin. And you know who’s going to die in the explosion. Madison and Jack cuz they leave 2 days later. JMO… They LOVE EJAMI at NBC and alot of us don’t care about them.

  • JayTN

RG3 vs Luck…GAA is not doing ‘extremely bad’ like “The Revolution” did. GAA is actually doing much better than “The Revolution” did. For instance, “The Revolution” dropped by 150,000 viewers from week one to week two, compared to just a 1,000 for GAA from week one to week two. GAA was also up, actually, in two of the key female demographic groups.

“Katie” is not an ABC network program, so the network is not concerned with what will replace it if it fails. “The Chew”, on the other hand is doing just fine…just as ABC Entertainment President Paul Lee publicly said this past week. Given the fact that “The Chew” is largely on par with the ratings for AMC (and pulling ahead in the W18-34 age group) and has the public support of the ABC executives, it is likely safe for at least the next year or so. I don’t see “The Chew” going anywhere anytime soon unless the ratings begin to crater.
