NOTE: All national ratings are "live plus same day" from Nielsen Media Research unless otherwise indicated.
Nielsen TV Ratings: ©2012 The Nielsen Company. All Rights Reserved.
You can see TV ratings from other recent Overnight ratings reports here.
Definitions:
Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.
Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.
Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)
Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

@cc
Me too, and i’m usually on it when it comes to POI. The olympics was that good.
LOL CW’s total viewer is 0.666
NBC has 270 hours of coverage. By my not-count there are 4 or 5 2-minute non-local breaks per hour. That’s 16-20 30 second commercials per hour. About 80 hours of the coverage is primetime. With the kind of ratings they’re getting, NBC can easily charge $1 million/30 sec in primetime. 80*18*$1 million = $1.44 billion. That’s not even counting daytime/late-night/cable. $1 million is kind of a best case scenario, but realistic. (Nothing in this comment should be taken as fact.)
Swimming and Gymnastics got the most hype and ratings should fall after that.
Please stop posting #s for UNIVISION – It’s not an American Network!!!
You do realize that every 4 years we know which parts of the olympics will rate higher, right? Next you will tell us that ice skating will be the biggest draw for the winter olympics. Everything else will still beat the last olympics ratings, which most people thought would not happen because of everything being delayed and that has been proven wrong. Track and Field will do great next week though.
Hart of Dixie repeats surprisingly well for the CW. I didn’t watch last season..but have been playing catch up all summer. Can’t wait for season 2. It really is one of the best shows on the network.
I think Track is going to make a comeback this year and setup for the 2016 games in Rio. I expect a growth from the 2008 edition but not these kind of ratings but eventually track will get back to these kind of numbers.
The online stream kind of sucks, though. Ads (right in the middle of an event), freezing, crashing, etc.
Really? My experience has been completely different.
I’ve been watching online on my PC everyday and have yet to see a single advertisement (except for some self promotion on NBCSN’s simulcast).
It was pretty awful on day one, but I’ve had no crashes since and only the occasional freeze/skip on the live-only streams.
Watched both Olympics and The LA Complex. The LA Complex was once again excellent with a huge twist at the end regarding Kal. Olympics were great! The US women’s gymnastics team pulled out all the stops! Go Gabby!
Wow – the other networks should just run a continous loop of promos for the next 2 weeks – give viewers a taste of what’s to come as people go thru channels.
CW – just play Chariots of Fire every nite for the next 2 weeks – no one is watching your crap
@Laura

Yes, it is. Univision is headquartered in New York, though most of its production facilities are in Florida.
Maybe you meant to say it’s not an English-language network, but that’s a weak argument; it’s still a broadcast network and rated by Nielsen.
Know it is the wrong day of the week and all, but had an idea:
Is CBS planning to do 2hrs of comedies on Thursday in midseason.
5 out of 6 of their fall comedies, i.e. the returning ones will definitely have full seasons so they will be around year around.
And the 6th one Partners will probably be too.
So that leaves Rules Of Engagements final season plus midseason comedy Friend Me, I think that is what it is called, left to air, to me it is looking like that.
What do others think??
@Laura – Yes, Univision IS an American network. It is a SPANISH SPEAKING American network located in New York City. Its broadcasts in the U.S. and Puerto Rico (a U.S. Territory.) Why do you have a problem with it?
@Ultima, Thank you for your reply on that one. You beat me to it.
Hope The LA Complex gets adjusted up. I’m also relieved that it increased in viewers from last week even with the Olympics on…
Here’s a promo for the next episode! Kal’s dad is revealed and more drama for Abby..

rick, you are wrong about gymnastics having far more tv appeal. That is just not true. They are essentially equal this year with slight variations deoending on whether it is women vs men or Phelps racing or not.
Thnx for mention LA Complex , I caught a few episodes via stream and its a pretty good show !
I just want Hells Kitchen and MasterChef back! I can’t wait for this crap to be over.
