Am I the one that has to point out that DAYS went up because all the diehards tuned in for their final ‘fix’ before the two week hiatus??????

  • Bart

“Y & R” drops another 60K viewers and Maria Arena Bell is still puzzled as to why she was terminated as Executive Producer and Head Writer. I hope Jill Faren Phelps & Josh Griffith are able to undo all the damages MAB has done during her reign of terror – this week’s episodes were bad!!!

  • James

One thing to note is Men18+ for GH. 505K now. While that is last in Men 18+, it it up 9K/59K from week ago/year ago. Not that that demo really matters…probably more of a ‘icing on the cake’ thing. Like ‘Oh that cool, doesn’t mean much, but nice to know.’

  • WMD

I read that JFP/JG are going to backburner a lot of vets*. That’s the last thing Y&R needs…say what you will about MAB, but at least she wrote for the veteran characters. I’ll wait for their material to air before making a true judgement, but the JFP era at GH doesn’t give me much hope on that front. (I’m not as nervous about JG though.)

Check out the day-to-day ratings for Days… the show actually fell off by 0.2 in viewership on Cliffhanger Friday! What gives? I thought the week went pretty well. (I’m not a regular viewer, but I had to check this week out.)

Speaking of day-to-day, check out GH’s numbers. Though it was mostly flat for the week, the numbers went up as the week went on, with 1.9s on Thursday and Friday. That’s pretty rare these days; it’s normally the reverse. Well done! The story has really picked up the last few weeks.

  • WMD

    * – oh yeah…horrible grammar, that sentence… :D

  • Nick

Nice to see an increase for GH, no matter how small it may be.

  • Nick

Yep. If the GH producer is joining Y&R, say byebye to your veterans. GH didn’t have any except the occasional one or two, but none of them had big stories.

  • cc

IA any increase for GH is a good thing. Days, pfft. Over it, till they realize it’s not the Sami show.

  • DryedMangoez

Funny yet sad how the cliffhanger ep got the week’s lowest number for Days. It was amazingly well done though. I have no idea where Days/Sony got the money for that? They probably blew the budget for the rest of the year lol

Hopefully people will come back after the Olympics though. Has NBC shown any promos for Days, I would assume during the Daytime coverage at least?

  • Darcy

    Days had a great week.

I am enjoying Y&R and B&B both of those soaps are great right now. I only started watching B&B a week ago, but I have to say I think that is the best soap on TV right now. I have never watched Days, so I am only comparing B&B to Y&R and GH.

GH is now in last place in total viewers, Days has now taken over the 3rd place spot. I am surprised that the week wasn’t better for GH because I read that Robin was on. I guess Robin’s return can’t even help GH.

  • Sid Kaminsky

I do hope you w[ll publish who wasa canned from Days and who is new.

  • Pinevalleylover

Gooo gh! At least the show got acceptable ratings that week!

  • Rob D.

As long as “The Phoenix” rises on Days………the ratings will have a chance to improve post Olympics.

  • Jay

Was hoping to see GH shoot up in theratings. The shows On 23-27 were amazing, probably my favorite week since I started watching the show in 2009

  • Bizzarr

I think GH is the best show on I like the jonny and tod this week that was good tv

  • sofaspud

    @ James

I always laughed at Guza’s justification for turning GH into Sopranos-Lite… he wanted to brand the show as the first man-soap. GH had worse numbers with men under his regime than the other shows, and probably at any time since 1979. Now with him gone, they seem to be increasing… :)

  • Darcy

Why is that when the ratings are posted they only post total viewers and women 18-49? Do the men and older women viewers not count?

  • Rob R

For some reason, DAYS’s Friday ratings are always the lowest of the week, which is not necessarily true for the other soaps. It probably just means that fans watch Friday’s episode on DVR during the weekend (like I always do). They did have a pretty spectacular cliffhanger for a daytime soap in this budget-challenged era.

  • Richard

Darcy, The source for the daytime ratings is Soap Opera Network. SON is the one who pays to gain access to those ratings. At the top of their posts it says to not copy and paste all of the ratings to another site.

SON wants you to click on the link and go to the site to see the rest of the ratings. That way they get clicks to their website which helps them with their ad rates and stuff.

As to the bottom part — yes and no. The older women and men do not count as much as to what the shows can charge advertisers. Those rates are set by the women 18-49 rating — thus why they are the most important.

  • Darcy

Thank you Richard for the information.

I look for total viewers in all the soaps to go down a little bit over the next month, because school will be starting.
