“Matthew is a good guy (most of the time) & is working his way through college.”

Well, now that you’ve complimented me, I don’t feel like arguing anymore. I still think I’m right.

Personally, if I were King of America in 2008, I would have reinstated Glass-Steagall, passed a bail-out for underwater mortgages (and to help cover bank losses for refinancing on borderline mortgages), created a massive infrastructure works project for unskilled, unemployed workers (no preferential treatment to unions), passed a one year corporate tax holiday, a five year freeze on all new regulation (except the aforementioned Glass-Steagall), and a five year freeze on current tax rates. It would have been tremendously expensive, and it would have worked a lot better than what we did…. in my opinion.

Well, different strokes for different folks

  • Hillbilly

Matthew – The concept is very simple. If budget responsibility is your goal, any new tax cuts should come with corresponding spending cuts; Conversely, if you want to introduce new spending, you should also introduce a plan to pay for it. A refusal to do either one of these things is an admission that the debt is not a priority. The debt is not a priority for the Democrats and the Republicans because it’s not a priority for the American voter.

    ———————————–

Spending cuts are always passed. They are rarely enforced & always in the out years. Nobama says he has signed $2 trillion in spending cuts. How many has taken effect? You keep saying because congress doesn’t do this or that the debt is not a priority. How many folks run on the issue – I’m gonna raise the debt? Now if you want to say politicians don’t keep their promise to cut the debt I’ll agree. I’ll agree the public is fickle…NOT IN MY BACKYARD SYNDROME applies. The TP movement is helping change that IMO.

  • Hillbilly

    @Matthew

I was thinking (no comments from AppleStinx on my ability or lack of to think ;) ) I should start promoting more spending. We need a $5 trillion stimulus passed ASAP. Then the fed govt will go broke faster & we can start over.

I agree except that I’m right. ;) To be fair i rambled plenty when you wasn’t around to reply. Out of respect for you I’ll answer anything you think i should. Then I’m done with the subject.

Better check the polls Jeffie…..I’m sure Obama is dazed and confused today….per usual……wonder if Obama has a created a “LIE KEEPER” for his campaign. Someone needs to keep track of the daily lies coming from Obama.

    Hillbilly,

“When will folks admit spending is not the issue answer?”

Our economy depends on three types of spending. When all three are down, the economy is in trouble.

    ———————-

I thought why did i say that? Any way we are in the same boat as Matthew & I. Man this boat is crowded. (Biting tongue really hard not to make an ornery comment. ;) ) Me & you have beat this horse to death. I’m to tired to beat the horse (again AppleStinx just move on. ) any more today. Maybe next week after i recharge my batteries.

Have a nice day & be safe.

  • Jeff

Chriscee, the polls are favoring the President.
Romney has lost his lead with the independants and lost his lead with male voters.

Romney is out of touch and running the most dishonest negative campaign in history.

  • TheBoss1

Jeff is correct … Romney is desperate. That is why he picked Paul Ryan as his VP pick. And we know from histrory, swing ing for the fence with VP picks have led to big strike outs.
