NBC won the night with adults 18-49 and in total viewers.

On NBC, the XXX Olympics earned a 5.7 adults 18-49 rating from 8-11PM.

Pre-season NFL football aired in several markets, so expect adjustments to the numbers when the final ratings are released on Monday.

Note: Sorry, we only have half hours ratings today. In the meantime, averaging these half hours into ratings for each show will often lead to errors.

Friday's Ratings Via TV Media Insights

Nielsen TV Ratings: ©2012 The Nielsen Company. All Rights Reserved.

NOTE: All ratings are "live plus same day" from Nielsen Media Research unless otherwise indicated.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.  More information on ratings is available here.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

  • Jeremy

Alright! Nikita did good in its new timeslot.

  • Nick

I expect CBS & Fox to be adjusted down a lot. ABC, not so much. No big markets.

  • Nick

They need to start showing Top Model, Touch, CSI: New York, Shark Tank, and Last Man Standing in their new fall time slots. It’s almost halfway through August!

  • Ultima

They need to start showing Top Model, Touch, CSI: New York, Shark Tank, and Last Man Standing in their new fall time slots.

Shark Tank is in the time slot that it will premiere in (which also happens to be Last Man Standing’s eventual time slot), CBS’ Friday 8pm hour is preempted three of the next four weeks, ANTM starts in two weeks and Touch will be off for a month anyways.

  • Kaylie

Nikita did decent in its new timeslot.

  • Mark Wilkins

Its official, Supernatural wins the ratings for the week again along with tying the summer best in 18-49 among all originals and repeats

  • Sid

Really glad that Nikita went up in the 9p airing. Hopefully it can remain steady.

  • Franco

Nikita did really good scoring a 0.3 against the Olympics on the 9pm timeslot given that it was a repeat, too.

  • Networkman

@Nick, I agree with you. Now that the Olympics are over FOX should start showing Touch on Friday night in its Fall timeslot. There are 12 epsisodes of Season 1. Touch is set to premiere Oct 26. So even if it were to begin these airings on Aug. 17th, the network would still have to double on episodes some weeks to fit them all in before the premiere. It was in a bad timeslot against Person of Interest during the season. I missed alot of episodes and would really like to get caught up. It has potential. I really like that Mario Bello will be joining the cast this season.
