Note: Due to an overrun of  PGA coverage, CBS ratings will be subject to more than typical adjustments in the final ratings, which will be posted tomorrow.

NBC was number one in adults 18-49  and among total viewers.

UPDATED: The preview of Animal Practice that aired at 10:58 PM averaged  a 4.1 rating in adults 18-49 and 12.8 million viewers overall. Click here for more.

On NBC the closing ceremonies of the XXX Olympic Games, earned a 9.1 rating from 8:30-11PM,  up  32% from the Fast Nationals of the Closing Ceremonies four years ago in Beijing. Earlier in the night, the London Gold  special earned a 5.7 adults 18-49 rating.

On CBS, Big Brother was delayed due to a PGA programming overrun, but the remainder of an episode of 60 Minutes and the portion of Big Brother that aired at the 8PM hour earned a 1.9 rating, down from last week's  2.1 adults 18-49 rating. However, major adjustments are likely due to the overrun, so keep an eye out for the final ratings tomorrow for a more accurate number. Earlier in the night, the PGA overrun and 60 Minutes episode that aired at 7PM earned a 1.0 rating.

On ABC, Secret Millionaire earned a 1.0 rating, up from last week's series low 0.8 among adults 18-49.  At 9PM Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition earned a 0.9 rating, up a tenth from last week's 0.8 adults 18-49 rating.

Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Thank god the Olympics are over. Too many fake sports

  • Tyron

How soon until Whitney replaces Animal Practice on Wednesdays?

  • Starspelly

    @ jj

There’s no such thing as a fake sport.

  • Leon

@ Dennis, They actually were really good and its surprising to see them as I didn’t expect them to perform there. They look better than they did 15 years ago especially Sporty Spice (Mel C.)

  • Sergi

Thanks Amanda!! And good work with this web.

  • I HATE ANIMAL PRACTICE

“Animal Practice” preview: From 11-11:30, NBC averaged 11.6 million and 3.6 in 18-49.

CAN YOU SAY FLOP? WHITNEY R U READY?

  • Mon

But AP ran until 11:20pm only.

  • Oliver

How soon until Whitney replaces Animal Practice on Wednesdays?

I’d take the under on both Animal Practice and Guys With Kids lasting 13 episodes.

The only complicating factor is NBC’s awful ratings. ABC pulled Man Up! after it got a 1.5 last November. On NBC, it might have got a back 9.

  • Jon23812

@jj, I’m not sure what country you live in, but I live in the United States and I recognize all of those sports, and I’m pretty sure London audience recognize all of those sports too.

  • Jeffery

Big Brother was soooo boring. This season sucks.

  • Paul

Go On seems to have gotten much better reaction from the Olympic audience than Animal Practice did. I could see Go On lasting awhile.

  • DTV

Loved the closing ceremony. Saw the tail end of BB14. Very boring.

  • Leondre

who predicted a viewership of 28.5 million for Animal prcatice on thursday

  • caller 911

@ Oliver: I think Guys with Kids will last the entire season not sure about season 2. Animal Practice is definitely a goner like Free Agents was.

@ jj: That was some stupid stuff you just said. I bet you can’t even play any of those sports and you’re talking mess.

@ Jeffrey & DTV: Definitely agree BB14 just like BB13 was predictable and boring. Stop bringing back these vets. BB hasn’t been good since season 10.

@ Paul: Go On will last longer than Animal Practice no doubt about that but its reaction was mixed.

  • Spencer

Hmmm from what I’ve heard(and seen on NBC’s Facebook page) is that people weren’t too fond of Animal Practice. And apparently NBC cut out The Who at the end of the closing ceremonies to show Animal Practice.

  • RG-X

And now starting tonite NBC gets crushed again.

Hope you got your ad money to cover you until Winter Olympics, NBC.

  • me

I liked both London Gold and the Closing ceremonies too. I thought it was neat to see the winning teams come marching in,(and they were taking pictures of each other.) the music was good too. and Animal Practice had its moments when it was cute.

  • RG-X

    YEA! Gordon Ramsey returns tonite!

  • caller 911

I feel bad for NBC now as the fall from grace starts tonight with their usual numbers. It looked like the 80s and 90s the past couple of weeks but now its gonna start looking like 2012 again for NBC.

@ Leondre: More than likely a dummy predicted that big of a number. Too bad they were 15-20 million viewers off.

  • Carlos

am I the only one who really enjoyed Animal Practice? seriously, I found the show so much better and funnier than all NBC’s last fall comedies. and also, Joanna Garcia is great! it can’t be her third failure!!!
