Opposite NBC’s Olympic-Promoted Opener of “Stars Earn Stripes” and Debut Competition on Fox, ABC’s “Bachelor Pad” Marks Best-Since-Premiere Results

ABC’s “The Glass House” Scores Double-Digit Week-to-Week Increases

“Bachelor Pad” (8:00-10:00 p.m.)

From 8:00-10:00 p.m., opposite NBC’s Olympic-promoted 2-hour debut of “Stars Earn Stripes” and Fox’s series debut of “Hotel Hell” and an original “Hell’s Kitchen,” ABC’s “Bachelor Pad” grew week to week by 21% in Total Viewers (4.1 million vs. 3.4 million) and by 9% in Adults 18-49 (1.2/4 vs. 1.1/3), hitting best-since-premiere numbers on both measures – since 7/23/12.

“The Glass House” (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

During the 10 o’clock hour against the highly promoted season opener of NBC’s “Grimm,” ABC’s “The Glass House” posted double-digit gains over the prior week with viewers (+31% – 2.1 million vs. 1.6 million) and young adults (+17% – 0.7/2 vs. 0.6/2).

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to 45% currently, from 42% at the same point in 2011. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
