   ABC Familys top show is Pretty Little Liars.
   Decent rated show is Switched at Birth.
   Confusingly on & offly rated show is The Lying Game.

   The CWs top show is Vampire Diaries.
   Decent rated show is Supernatural.
   Confusingly on & offly rated show is Hart of Dixie.

   Both networks need a hit. The CW runs throughtout the week, while ABC Family runs for 2 days during the year (not including Summer).

   @ John A I have no idea what point you are trying to make. Secret Life is the longest running ABC Family show ever. It is the first show on the network to even get a 5th season and the first to hit 100 episodes. The ratings may suck right now but they are still better than Greek’s were in its final season. That says something.

   Obviously many shows do get past 5 seasons but that is neither here nor there.

   Its really hard to compare the CW and ABCF..both have had there fare share of hits and misses. I think the problem with ABCF is the fact that they wait so long in between seasons to air new episodes..although this theory doesn’t necessarily apply to PLL. As a fan of THE LYING GAME..waiting until January to air the 2nd season..in my opinion will hurt any momentum the series had. ABCF will need to promote this show like its brand new again to attract any new viewers.

   The problem is not the shows its the networks because they always cancel shows which turns people off. FYI GREEK almost was always under million viewers.

   if you look back at the lying games numbers for the first season they pulled 0.6 and 0.7 with a 0.8 and 0.9 thrown in for a few episodes. I would say the ratings aren’t bad. And switched pulled in really good numbers too, the hiatuses is the problem I agree there. But really comparing cw shows with of dixie is an awful show that pulls 0.5 and a few 0.6s and nakita pulls 0.4 most of the time then gets adjusted down. The only remotlygood shows on cw are supernatural and vd and I bet this year if they air the lying game when vd airs it will kick vds butt in ratings. Even shows that pulled good numbers on cw got cancelled example: lux, secret circle. Both good shows with decent numbers and they got canned.

   Secret Circle had plenty of 0.5 with a 1.2 lead in with TVD. No way will The Lying Game beat TVD. That is crazy talk.

   First of all, I agree with all of you. Secret Life is on it’s 5th season, longest running ABC Family show and the first one to go over 100 episodes. Secret Life is falling and falling HARD but it’s in their 5th season so that’s an excuse. I think that Secret Life should have a final 13 episode 6th season before they go below a million viewers. And I think that Secret Life shouldn’t be with those flops on ABC Family. TLG, JBD and Bunheads are goin to bring down Secret Life even more. Imagine what these shows are gonna do in season 3. And I think PLL should just end already. I’m really tired of tryin to find out who the “A” team is. Even if the ratings are good, they should just end this show or get the “A” thing over with and move on to somethin new. Anyone else agree that the 4th season of PLL should be the final season?

   My dream schedule for ABC Family:

   Monday

   8:00-Switched At Birth

   9:00-The Lying Game

   Tuesday

   8:00-Pretty Little Liars

   9:00-Secret Life

   Wednesday

   8:00-Bunheads

   9:00-Melissa & Joey

    I don’t think secret life needs another 13 episodes to give it a send off. I mean the whole plot of the show is discussing sex. Nothing ever happens just let them all get married and say goodbye.

    So Secret Life is a flop because it didn’t last as long as some other dramas. Its amazing the garbage people will type.

    For once I actually agree with you. Secret Life was not a flop and just last Season(S4) it was getting higher ratings than PLL(S2).

    I think ABCF has too many hour long dramas and with them trying to fit all of them on Mondays and Tuesdays doesn’t work. The only show that ABCF airs regularly with minimal hiatuses is PLL.

    But otherwise, ABCF has literally ruined Secret Life’s, Switched at Birth and The Lying Games momentum. They took SAB off for so many months and they’re finally bringing it back next month. I’m not holding my breath but I’m certain the show will fall even further than last time.

    ABCF sucks at scheduling and that’s a fact.

    Forgot to add that they killed Make it or Break it the same way when they were pushing for The Lying Game launch.

    And now all their new shows are faltering so they’ve basically killed their strong veterans for freshman flops!

    Nikki, I hink you need to check your facts about Lying Games ratings.First, VD gets a0.1 or higher in demo & over 2 million viewers and Lying Game has never come close to that and wont with the long hiatus and heavybroadcast network competition.Secondly, yes Switched and Secret Life had good ratings but they didnt help Lying Games ratings.Third, Lying Game never got a 0.8_0.9 ,it had mostly 0.5_0.6 &a few 0.4& a few 0.7s.its first season average was 0.5 1.38 million total viewers.Im gonna list season one ratings the first number is episode number,second is demo, third total viewers. 1.1 0.5 1.39 1.2 0.5 1.47 1.3 0.5 1.31 1.4 0.5 1.46 1.5 0.4 1.30 1.6 0.4 1.19 1.7 0.4 1.06 1.8 0.5 1.23 1.9 0.5 1.10 1.10 0.5 1.28 1.12 0.6 1.51 1.13 0.7 1.70 1.14 0.7 1.66 1.15 1.16 0.6 1.41 1.17 0.5 1.25 1.18 0.6 1.32 1.19 0.5 1.20 1.20 0.5 1.24

    Secret Life really just started falling hard over the last few weeks. Since its return in March it has mainly held a 0.7 demo. In fact, it pulled quite a few 0.8, even as recent as June, before it appeared to be steady at 0.7. If I’m not mistaken, the week before the Olympics, it had 1.4 or 1.5 million viewers with a 0.7 demo. The ratings for the show have been very odd to predict since April. One week it would had 1.2 million viewers with a 0.5 demo, the next week it would have 1.7 million viewers with a 0.7 demo. I think the show has 1 or 2 episodes to go before it goes on another hiatus. Speaking of hiatus’, I definitely agree that the long breaks are what are really hurting the shows on the network. These 6-8 month breaks are ridiculous.

    Okay all of you need to look at my comment again I never said secret life was a flop show I said recently it had been. The last half of last season and this whole season has sucked. The show was a big hit and the longest running show on the network so far. I never said it was a flop show. And as far as the lying game ratings I will check them.. and get back to you but I’m almost positive it had 0.8 and 0.9. And that stuff about the secret circle the vampire diares lead in killed that show. If it would of been paired with a different show or another night it would of done just fine. You people only see what you want to see.

    The Lying Game never had a .8 or a .9. And it never will. I don’t know how
    Many episodes abc family ordered for season 2 but I imagine just 10. After that there will be no more because I bet it goes back to getting .4s. Also how could having the most watched show on the Cw as a lead in kill the secret circle? That makes no sense. The vampire diaries was probably propping up the secret circle which would have fallen hard any other night of the week. But comparing Abc family and the Cw is pointless. They are completely different.

    I don’t ever remember The Lying Game getting a 0.8 or 0.9 demo. I do remember it getting a 0.7 2 or 3 times, but that’s it. It usually gets a 0.5 or 0.6 demo.
