Royal Pains was Wednesday's top cable show with a 1.0 adults 18-49 rating. Shark Week special Shark Fight was the number two cable original with a 0.9 adults 18-49 rating.

We only receive the top 100 cable shows for adults 25-54 for the whole day from our primary source, if you don't see your show it was not in that top 100 list.

The list below is long but you can use your browsers "find on page" feature (usually CTRL+F or CMD+F) to search - that's probably the easiest way to find Wednesday night's episode of your favorite show.

    @joey

Ah, so you’re speaking about the 25-54 thing? That’s important, depending on the network.

  • BJH

Does anyone have the numbers/rating for “The Exes”? Thanks.

  • http://tvbythenumbers.com Bill Gorman

“Ah, so you’re speaking about the 25-54 thing? That’s important, depending on the network.”

Indeed. To clarify for the 999th time. Adults 18-49 is the key metric for broadcast primetime, and some of the bigger, most general cable networks. Many large cable networks also focus on adults 25-54, which is also the ad metric for all news programming. Other cable networks target other age/gender demos.

  • Martin

Is that good for the reruns of Gossip Girl, compared to other reruns or whatever on the style network.

  • Anthony

The numbers on Futon are mixed up for Melissa and Joey, Baby Daddy, both Storage Wars Texas, and both American Hoggers. The numbers here are correct.

  • Nadine

@silvit — really can’t explain the drop in Royal Pains this week — anymore than I can explain the big burp for Dallas, even tho’ it was a finale. But what I will say is that it still looks as though RP and Dallas competed for audience — it’s just that those who decided to watch Dallas instead this summer probably didn’t jump back into a soap-like series as RP is, without knowing what’s going on. I say that because it’s the simplest explanation for the fairly large drop in RP’s audience this year (and the relatively disappointing ratings for Dallas–although that series may just not have the horses, ultimately–who knows?) And sure, they’ll renew it. Maybe they’ll move it?

  • silvit

    @Nadine

Maybe you’re right, or maybe people didn’t like what they saw of RP last year, hence the diminished ratings since the premiere (I say this w/o any knowledge of what it’s going on on the show, mine it’s a simple guess).

    Anyway, they will renew it.

  • MJDB

The Exes ratings via The Futon Critic:

    0.97 Million Viewers
    0.3 18-49

  • BJH

    @ MJDB

Thanks. Wow, Exes barely missed the cutoff. I hope they can continue the upswing.

  • Jenny

If those are the ratings for The Exes, then it’s retention out of The Soul Man is strong.

  • Chris

Didn’t mean to impugn your honesty, Ted–as you may know, a lot of people go to boards like this and try to make people believe they’re big shots at some network or studio. I was pretty sure you weren’t one of them, but I hate being a sucker, ya know? ;)

  • Elliot

Royal Pains has chaned the dynamic. It used to be about the two brothers and Divia. Now, it has expanded its cast while losing the thing that made it special and more importantly, brought higher ratings. Here’s a suggestion for TNT and USA, stop putting your best shows head to head. There is a big schedule out there when you show repeats. Think 8 pm hours. You can both make tons of money. As for TV Land, who puts half hour comedies up at the 10 pm hour and at 11 pm and expects to land in the top spots? You could also choose the 8 pm hour.

  • xwiseguyx

Million Dollar Listing LA came a ways from it’s pre 1 million total viewer demo at the premiere…

  • Nadine

@Elliot — I’ll put in my two cents about RP’s changes — not that anyone cares but me — Hank is interesting; Evan is not. Divya is interesting; Evan’s girlfriend is mucho uninteresting. Boris is very interesting; Henry Winkler is not. Any time Hank, Divya or Boris interact with other characters, one’s interest is engaged. Interact them with each other and it’s very interesting indeed. So interacting Hank with Boris really grabs the viewer. On the other hand, extended scenes with both Evan and his girlfriend send me diving for the mute button. And I miss Jill.

  • Chris

@Nadine–exactly. I don’t actually mind Henry Winkler’s character–he’s never going to be a regular, anyway. But upgrading Paige to a regular, after firing Jill Flint because (as we were told by a producer) her character wasn’t a doctor, so they had nothing for her to do–???? Evan isn’t a doctor, Paige isn’t a doctor, and the two doctors they’ve added to the cast are both boring as hell. Jill was a medical administrator–they could have had her working for HankMed.

Shows have to change over time, but these changes make no sense, and they basically make me feel like there’s no point watching the show anymore. I wish I’d stopped watching a few eps back.

Evan and Paige are simply not as adorable as the writers seem to think. She was fine as a recurring character, but as a lead she seems to be there just to be bubbly and blonde. And young. Do they think just making the cast younger will make the audience younger? It doesn’t work that way, guys. Sorry. :)

  • Tom

@ Chris You’re right to be critical about USA’s explanation for dropping the Jill Casey character. To sum her up, Jill was pretty much about being “the girlfriend”. That’s all. This plot thread was getting stale. The resolution was to either marry her off to Hank or dump her. Hank is a lot more interesting when he’s skirt chasing, so dropping Jill Casey was the money move.

  • Greg

It would be SMART if DALLAS got Victoria Principal to return as PAM EWING! Surely it can be done. I’d give anything to see Pam Ewing on my screen again! It would DEFINITELY be a HUGE RATINGS BOOST for DALLAS too.

I also wonder if Tommy and his sister (the forgettable actress married to Jesse Metcalf’s Christopher Ewing character) are Cliff Barnes children that no one but Cliff knows about. Would make a nice little twist there! They are out to get their hands on the Ewings money (or the brother is anyway).

  • Elliot

Greg, where have you been? The girl who married Christopher is Cliff’s daughter. And her brother was never her brother. He was killed by the way.

  • Greg

Elliot, I haven’t watched the final 3 episodes yet! I’ve been saving them for a rain day, and it’s supposed to rain here all weekend so you’ll know what I’ll be doing. I figured Cliff would have an unknown child appear in the new Dallas. While I find the character kinda bland, at least Cliff has “ties” to someone which at least makes things a bit more interesting.
