Hah, people were saying how well Suburgatory did after Modern Family. Well, MF got adjusted up and Suburgatory got adjusted down…
Oliver, you should probably go back and check the preliminaries.
Modern Family remained at a 1.3
Suburgatory adjusted down from a 1.2 to a 1.1
They both lowers just a tad in viewers.
At the end of the day, Suburgatory STILL did very good behind Modern Family. IF this transitions over into Fall/Spring ratings, ABC will have finally found a good follow up to MF and they may even get a new hit comedy on their hands. We’ll see…
Modern Family didn’t adjust up.
1.3 is poor for modern family repeat. You would expect a 2.0 from a show that popular.
Modern Family is not a hit in my opinion, for a comedy it must do well in repeats also like the CBS comedies do. That’s why BBT is a true hit, it will live for many years in syndication while Modern Family will be long forgotten 10 years from now.
I feel sorry for USA when they start repeating it next year.
I have absolutely no intentions in watching, “Oh Sit” but I want it to succeed. The CW desperately needs a “hit” this summer. 0.5 is nothing to brag about, but hey it’s progress! Predictions for “The Next” tonight?
I say 1.3 million; 0.6
Any idea how AGT compares at this point to last year?
Modern Family is a hit just not a great repeater. Only TBBT repeats great.
“Modern Family is not a hit in my opinion, for a comedy it must do well in repeats also like the CBS comedies do.”
Except TBBT is the only CBS comedy that has repeated well this summer and 2.5 Men when it moved after it. None of the Monday comedies have been repeating good.
“I feel sorry for USA when they start repeating it next year.”
Why? I doubt it will do worse than what Law & Order reruns are currently doing. If you wanna feel sorry for anyone, feel sorry for the channels that picked up 30 Rock & Community.

Any idea how AGT compares at this point to last year?
2011 – 3.0 (P), 2.5 (R)
2012 – 2.8 (P), 2.3 (R)
Less than a 10% year-to-year drop, which I believe is better than the numbers have been for most of the season.
Big Brother is down 32% in the demo and 27% in viewers from the comparable episode last year. Get a clue, CBS, and sack Grodner already. It’s long overdue!
USA paid more money for MF reruns than TBS did for TBBT reruns. We can’t yet say for certain if that was a costly mistake but it doesn’t look too auspicious..
The other thing to consider is that TBBT has been getting larger exposure in syndication already… the TBS airings, etc. have been going for a while. Modern Family is just entering season 4… the real test will be how well repeats do in syndication when it’s had more exposure from several seasons.
CBS shows repeat well because they all share a similar audience so they ALL repeat relatively well. Modern Family is the crown jewel of the ABC comedy line-up so aside from performing great in originals it underperforms in repeats because it’s saddled with a lot of dead weight.
That and it’s a different kind of comedy than TBBT. It requires paying more attention to pick up on a lot of the humor. TBBT is a more traditional and easy to follow comedy. *set up* *set up* *Joke* *response joke* set up, *final capper joke* rinse and repeat. It’s clever but something like Modern Family might require remembering a tiny detail early in an episode to make a punchline hit home in the last act… that’s just not as popular when dealing with a TV audience that likes something humorous to fold laundry to.
Without Frank/Boogie or really just Boogie this season could have been enjoyable.

I decided to watch a few minutes of Oh Sit. Let me share the genius format for this show.
1. Music starts, players race around in a big circle clearing obstacles that net a small amount of cash each.
2. Music stops, players clear bridge obstacles over the water to reach the chairs in the middle. One player can’t reach a chair and is eliminated.
3. Each chair has a hidden bonus cash value that is wildly variable and completely dwarfs the money earned in step 1. Player with lowest total is eliminated.
These steps repeat for several rounds.
In other words, each round, they eliminate a player (who reached a chair) essentially at random. Who the hell comes up with a terrible gimmick like that?!
While I am not a regular viewer of many game shows or competition realities, I do find the underlying game theory in them to be fascinating. And this, is just beyond awful.
Imagine if they introduced a twist to American Idol that after the singer with the fewest votes was eliminated, they had all of the others draw straws and then elminated the person who randomly drew the shortest one. Ridiculous!
/End Rant
Where are the CBS Monday sitcoms repeating well? How I Met Your Mother did only a tenth worse than The Middle and 2 Broke Girls did the same as Modern Family this week. They were repeating well during the regular season but they aren’t now.
I really need to watch Oh Sit next week. I would have tonight if it wasn’t against Wipeout.
If a 0.5 demo and 1.2 million viewers is a hit for the CW..ill give it to them..they need a hit desperately..hopefully The Next does well for them too.
@Christian
Dude , chill on the hate of Big Brother ,
++
It might not have the ratings of past years but then again few shows do.
++
Big Brother did great though as a counter program during the Olympics ,
++
My only gripe is that they did not let the coach twist play out for the entire season.
A CW show actually got more than a million viewers this summer
Okay , just watched most of Oh Sit via stream , my take on it ,
++
1st They should do this in two 1/2 blocks , with one 1/2 hour being men and the other women.
++
2nd , they should not eliminate those that do not get a chair but rather they should go into the elimination without the chance of the cash bonus.
++
3rd , not allow any intentional pushing or shoving , but they should be able to mess with the bridges to slow down their opponents.
++
4th , let the players keep any money they earn each round just make the chair amounts smaller.
++
5th see what can be done to make the course a little less dangerous , WAY TO MANY INJURIES during this one episode.
