CBS ANNOUNCES 15 OF THE 18 CASTAWAYS FOR

"SURVIVOR: PHILIPPINES," PREMIERING WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 19

Cast Includes A Former National League MVP And An ‘80s Television Star, Plus Three Prior Castaways Who Were Medically Evacuated, To Be Announced Later This Week

Today CBS announced 15 of the 18 castaways who will compete against each other on SURVIVOR: PHILIPPINES. The Emmy Award-winning series will return for its 25th season with a special 90-minute edition, Wednesday, Sept. 19 (8:00-9:30 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Three of the 18 castaways, to be revealed later this week, are former players who were medically evacuated from the game and are returning to finish what they started. The 15 new castaways vying to outwit, outplay and outlast one another include former National League MVP Jeff Kent (San Francisco Giants), and ‘80s television star Lisa Whelchel (“The Facts of Life”).

For the first time in eight years, SURVIVOR: PHILIPPINES will be comprised of three tribes named after animals in the region: Kalabaw (“Water Buffalo”), Tandang (“Rooster”) and Matsing (“Monkey”). The tribes feature individuals from different backgrounds competing for the same ultimate goal: to be Sole Survivor.

Surrounded by water, SURVIVOR: PHILIPPINES will prominently feature marine-based challenges where the three tribes will battle for first and second place in order to be granted immunity, while the third-place tribe will head to Tribal Council and face elimination.

Yeah Philippines! So thrilled to finally have the US Survivor shoot here in my country :D

  • Chris L

In case you just skimmed this: LISA WHELCHEL?

  • Survivor Fan

    I am excited!

  • Jeff R

Pretty pumped for this season. Lisa Whelchel – awesome!

  • tv log

CBS made right season! X Factor probably killed Big Brother on September 12, 2012!

  • bob

Wow. Blair will never be voted off….who would do that? I am excited to see her…I had a little crush on her back when she was on Facts of Life.

  • CW

    Jeff Kent! Nice!!!

My predictions for the former contestants: Michael from Australian Outback, Russell from Samoa and Colton from One World.

  • RJ

Nice to see them expand their casting search from California.

  • Chris

I’m actually hoping Colton is one of the three returnees, but my mother CANNOT stand him at all. The reason for me wanting to see Colton back in the game is simply because as a villain, he’s going to make the game fun to watch. When you have someone to root against, it only adds to the intrigue.

  • Ryan

Guys, the 3 people have been known for so long: Russell from Samoa, MIKE from Australia!! and Jonathan!
    Can’t wait
Colton will be back a few seasons from now I bet

  • hardline_pro

Russell Hantz said he wasn’t playing the game ever again.

  • Jay

    @hardline_pro

Not that Russell the other one

  • Survivor Fan

    @hardline_pro

I do not believe at all that Russell Hantz will not play again.

  • Future Failure

BLAIR FROM FACTS OF LIFE! LOL!

  • Spencer

@Chris: God I hope Colton doesn’t come back. There’s a difference between being a villain and just being a mean-spirited-racist-loser. He didn’t make things more interesting. He was just a bully.

  • JohnnyRico

I do not think the Producers of the big cbs reality shows trust their casting departments anymore which is why everyone season now is stunt celebs or bringing back old contestants.

Hopefully this backfire on the ratings in the fall the same way BB ratings are down this summer and they fire people in the casting departments.

  • Noelle

@JohnnyRico Yeah, it’s actually kind of sad since there are so many normal applicants that are really passionate about some of the shows.

  • Hethler

    Tick-tock! That;s less than a month, super excited :D
