NEW YORK, NY – August 20, 2012 – On September 4, 2012, after months of anticipation and endless speculation, TV fans finally will get the answer to the question, “Who will be Kelly Ripa’s new co-host?” That morning, when Ripa walks into the “LIVE” studio, she’ll be joined by her new partner and a whole new era will begin for “LIVE.”

On November 21, 2011, “LIVE! with Kelly” debuted following the departure of longtime host Regis Philbin, and in the following months, 59 different men and women sat next to Kelly at the co-host desk, top personalities from every area of broadcasting and entertainment. One individual from that immensely talented group has been tapped to fill one of the most coveted jobs in television.

Ripa will kick off the new season on Monday, September 3, acting as a solo host for the first time, and the following day, September 4, will mark the first day the new co-host team officially will helm the show together. Stopping by as guests on September 4 will be actress Claire Danes and 2012 “American Idol” winner Phillip Phillips, making his “LIVE” performance debut.

Emmy Award-winning talk show “LIVE! with Kelly” is distributed in national syndication by Disney-ABC Domestic Television. Produced by WABC-TV in New York and executive produced by Michael Gelman, “LIVE! with Kelly” airs in more than 200 markets across the U.S. Visit “LIVE” on the web at www.livewithkelly.tv, on Facebook, or follow “LIVE” on Twitter, @LiveKelly.

    Finally…

  • DJB

I hope it’s Seth Meyers. Michael Strahan is a good pick too. :)

  • a p garcia

I am hoping it is Rush Limbaugh

  • Alex

I suspect it will be Michael Strahan because he was probably the one who guest-hosted the most. And, he seems to be the favorite among fans (behind Seth Myers who said he prefers staying on SNL).

  • AustinGriffith

I like Michael Strahan or Joel Mchale.

  • Jason

    I am thinking Mike Greenberg

  • joel

I’m thinking it will be Regis

  • AppleStinx

Anderson Cooper. He won’t refuse, because a guy with his pedigree needs 3 jobs to get by in this Economy.

  • C

Joe McHale of “community” is good.

  • Danny

It’s Kelly Ripa. They cloned her. She’s the only one who can put up with herself and her ego.

  • rehabber

This is what America worries about?? We are in BIG TROUBLE. lol

  • Justin

I hope it’s Seth Meyers, just so he will be gone from SNL. He SUCKS at Weekend Update, please for the love of GOD have him go.

  • EatMorePez

Joel McHale is currently under contract to star on two shows that film in LA. I don’t think he’ll be able to add a third show that is broadcast live from New York 5 days a week.

I didn’t know Michael Strahan before he started co-hosting and I wasn’t impressed. Actually, he pissed me off when he made a joke of a story they read about a cat that was placed in washing machine. Some of us would have called that animal abuse.

I went to a taping last month. Unfortunately it was the day they had the civilian host the show. But we got lucky because after the show, they taped an introduction for a future show with Kelly and Howie Mandell. You can’t compare someone like Howie Mandell or Martin Short or even Seth Meyers with Michael Strahan or these other guys they’ve trotted out that I never heard of. They are seasoned comedians, know how to tell a story and know what is funny and what isn’t. But they won’t pick those guys because those guys are older as is the demographic that they appeal to, so the network just wouldn’t be interested in them.

    I hope it’s someone funny!

  • Mike

Hoping for Seth Meyers if he wants it. Hopefully it won’t be Michael Strathan.

Who cares? The show has gotten so bad that I do not think anyone could save it! Kelly tells the same jokes, the same stories, and personally looks anorexic. I was a big fan of the show in the past, but now when GMA goes off the air, I turn the channel.

Its pretty embarrassing when the “tag” at bottom of “Who will be…” to promote Kelly is “LIVE WITH KELLY RATINGS” & she doesnt show up in top 25! Live! with any combination rarely does. That when you know youre a daytime filler, so why should Buena Vista really try or care?!? I thought rotating co-hosts was smart, especially for the budget..go figure.

  • Dawn

Dmoore: Ratings for the all the talks shows are down across the board. There have been weeks this summer where no talk show has been in the top 25.

@Van, she is truly anorexic looking. Like a stick figure with a big head. I never paid much attention to her on television, but when I saw her in person, I was shocked. I don’t find concentration camp skinny as becoming on anyone.

That said, in person, Kelly seemed friendly to everyone, not snobby in the least. And it’s not so easy to keep the chatter going for an hour on tv. Whether we like what she says or not, she keeps talking. Anderson Cooper does it really well, talk and make sense at the same time, seemingly off the cuff. Another person who impressed me with the capability, believe it or not, is Martha Stewart. I’d not seen her show, but I went because her studio is a couple of blocks from my house (plus I heard they give away prizes.) I heard her ask her staff person, what’s on the program today? then she picked it up and ran with it, like a master. She did it so well (plus her studio is the most beautiful studios I’ve ever seen.) Too bad the people at the early taping went home with an immersion blender, my group only got a book.
