The CW is not currently airing on cablevision in new york. It is currently replaced with the style network. Is that a big enough market to effect the cw ratings?

  • Brandy

Colin, that’s what’s I’ve heard and why the show underwent budget cuts last season & that without the hulu&netflix deals, it would be a$20million dollars loss.Plus, from what I’ve heard, it sell many DVDs/bluejays-10,000 at most and it airs at 12-2am in some overseas places according to commenters on here several months ago.
Critmtv if Nikita’s ratings ratings stay at 0.4 or go lower & it keeps loosing viewers weekly like the end of last season & keeping dropping through the season like last season, season 4 is NOT guaranteed. Its almost certain that Nikita’s ratings will fall in season three.

nothing but NFL, repeats, and garbage

“The CW is not currently airing on cablevision in new york. It is currently replaced with the style network. Is that a big enough market to effect the cw ratings?”

Cablevision customers are about 3.3 million households out of 115 million US TV households, so the answer to your question is yes, about 3% of any CW ratings shortfall can be attributed to Cablevision.

“Except that neither CBS or Warner Bros. produces ANTM, so the only revenue it generates them is from ratings. This was fine until recently, because it was one of their highest rated shows and could fill up a second hour with repeats.

I still don’t think they will cancel it, because it should be able to perform better than most of their summer reality shows, but I think this will be the last spring or fall cycle that airs.”

I agree. Unless all the Mark Pedowitz talk about expanding programming is just talk, I figure the ANTM hour is the first place the CW looks to expand scripted shows. Getting Sunday night back is a *much* more difficult move for them.

I can see ANTM continuing in the summer, but I don’t see it during the regular season after 2012-13.

  • WB

ANTM’s 20th cycle should be its final !

  • Sid

I hope Mark kicks Top Model to the curb! First Gossip Girl and now possibly Top Model, maybe there is hope for The CW after all! :D

Anyone who disagrees with his changes should head on over to Lifetime or ABCF.

  • Joseph

There is little reason to expect ANTM to go away since it makes a lot of money acting as an infomercial for cosmetic and hair products ,,

  • herpderp

ANTM should kept as summer programming only. Use the fall slot for comedies.

  • panda22

Agree…move ANTM to the Summer schedule, Cult + Nikita to Friday!

  • Networkman

Alot of viewers are seemingly getting use to Bones on Friday night. IMO, those are good repeat numbers. I wonder if it would be wise just to put Bones on Friday night in the Fall followed by Fringe. And then once Fringe ends to put Touch in its spot. Gordon Ramsey’s show could stay on Monday @8pm followed by Mob Doctor.

Regarding ANTM, hopefully CW allows it to finish its 20th cycle. I really do feel it should be a male version. Alot of CW viewers wouldn’t mind looking at male models compete. I think it would be something fresh and maybe even rejuvenate the show. Some men may even watch if it is done intelligently showing the struggles of real men who dream of being professional models.

If Tyra Banks and Company are willing to take a pay cut, I’m sure ANTM can survive another few summers.

If Tyra thinks it’s still 2006 and wants to be paid like it, then I think ANTM will be canceled by upfronts.

I wonder which show will be paired with Nikita in January, after Top Model goes away (thankfully – what a crappy lead-in).

There seem to be two possibilities:

    1. Cult is placed on Fridays, 8pm, before Nikita. The Nikita fan in me will be happy for the interesting pairing (two dark, edgy, challenging shows that are atypical for the CW), but as I’m looking forward to Cult and want it to do well, I’ll dread it premiering on the Friday night death-slot. Then again, I think the CW has fairly modest expectations for this show so maybe they’ll be okay with it pulling, say, 0.5′s on Friday.
    2. A failing freshman show – most likely Beauty and the Beast, which seems awful – is moved to Friday, with Cult taking its place. (Cult/TVD on Thursdays is sensible, for the Matt Davis factor. B&tB/Nikita wouldn’t be great, but eh, with Top Model we’ve already hit rock bottom.)

Wow Grimm lost .4 in demo. Terrible repeat rating.

  • James

Isn’t The CW also getting revenues from ANTM’s international sales since the show is distributed by CBS TV Distribution?

  • Alan

I like ANTM but it’s time to end it. It was a terrible move to premiere it waaaaay before than the scripted shows. I think they will air 3 or 4 more episodes and then they’ll keep the final episodes for thr summer like they did with Remodeled.
Oh Sit should be cancelled too, and The Next should be given another chance, it’s refreshing, entertaining…

  • Sid

    @Alan

But Oh Sit is rating slightly better and looks much cheaper than The Next. I think The Next should be canned.

  • Doug

I think we really have to wait an see how the CW’s season pans out before passing judgement on ANTM. Most CW dramas were around a 0.5 or a 0.6 by last May, right? They could very well be down to a 0.4 this May, which doesn’t make ANTM look that bad in comparison.

  • Jaxie

I think the new format and the new cast will be the end of ANTM. I loved Nigel, Mr. Jay and Ms. Jay. I watched a bit of it and then turned the channel. I won’t be watching the rest of the reason.

September 19th, 2012 crime alert: “Local family catches caretakers’ abuse of autistic son on camera” seen on channel 8 san diego news Sept 19th 2012. Just horrific! Why is there such a rise in abuse of autistic people? What does this say about the soul beat of our society? http://www.cbs8.com/story/19589835/local-family-catches-caretakers-abuse-on-camera.

VALLEY CENTER — Video surveillance showing a 23-year-old Valley Center man with autism being beaten hundreds of times over a three-week period by two caregivers led sheriff’s deputies to arrest one man Wednesday night. An arrest warrant has been issued for the other caregiver.
The Sheriff’s Department learned of the suspected abuse on Aug. 29, Sgt. Mark Varnau said. The victim is nonverbal and severely autistic.
His family alleged that two hired caregivers were captured on video abusing the victim in August, Varnau said. The family had installed a video surveillance system in the man’s bedroom just prior to the assaults being discovered, he said.
The two caregivers were employed by the family for more than two years.
It’s not known how long the victim was abused, Varnau said. Because of his autism, he had no ability to communicate to others what was happening, the sergeant said.
Detectives reviewed more than 2,000 video recordings before obtaining arrest warrants for Michael Dale Garritson, 50, of Valley Center, and Matthew Alexander McDuffie, 27, of San Diego.
McDuffie was arrested Wednesday night by detectives from the sheriff’s fugitive apprehension unit.
Garritson has not been apprehended, and sheriff’s officials asked for the public’s help in locating him. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Department at (858) 565-5200 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477
