Friday's Ratings Via TV Media Insights

NOTE: All ratings are "live plus same day" from Nielsen Media Research unless otherwise indicated.

Definitions:

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.  More information on ratings is available here.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

  • SVU: The Revolution

Dennis, actually Fox washed its hands of Firefly after it was cancelled, Universal bombed but im sure that they recouped some of their losses with DVD/ Tv sales. Also on a side not Firefly bluray is $63 at bestbuy!!!

  • KS

    Off – Topic:

Why is that no one watches that great show?

  • Austin Lauran

    Off topic (related to ABC):

What do you think Modern Family and The Middle will get for their season premieres? I’m guessing a 3.5-6.0 in the 18-49 demo/12+ million viewers for Modern Family and a 2.5-3.0 in the 18-49 demo/8+ million viewers for The Middle.

  • Dana

Lol Nikita reruns do better than some of the cw’s original programs.

  • John A

No Nikita doesnt. All its originals do higher in demo and viewers. Not that CW is airing much originals at the moment anyway. No point making things up.

  • John A

Oh sorry you probably meant The LA Complex but that did do better this week.

  • Joseph

CW Gratz on ANTM and redoing the show ,
ANTM always had that feel of it being more about a bunch of girls pledging the Tyra Sorority then anything else, the point system takes away the mystique of which girls move on , though not sure if this is a good or bad thing yet.
    ++
ABC you Win the night , BUT, with 2hrs of original programming your should have had ratings far in excess of a 1.1 after 9pm. We learned that an audience is there if you program for it , you did not.
    ++
CBS & NBC , repeats so no comment.

  • rob60990

the first hour of 20/20 was a rerun and at 10pm, ABC aired a repeat of Revenge for Real.

These ratings are about right going into a holiday weekend.

  • Jaker

Dennis is lamest poster on here look at how he was the first to comment. This dude has no life at all.

  • Sid

    @Dennis

I’ll tell you the same thing I’ve been telling Brandy. GET OVER IT AND MOVE ON! It’s been renewed already so I don’t know why you’re so bitter!

And btw, they’re just repeats and in some cases Nikita does better than The LA Complex, Remodeled and The Next. 9O21O repeats way worse and Hart of Dixie as well as TVD both repeat with the same demo numbers.

  • Kat B

    Dateline was a repeat.

  • iMember

Nikita does what it usually does for a repeat, and sometimes it manages that 0.3. Haters gonna hate is all.

  • JJA

@Dennis–take a look at the numbers before you blather about Nikita doing badly. THIS past week on the CW:

Vampire Diaries rerun on Thursday scored a .3
Supernatural rerun on Wednesday scored a .3
Hart of Dixie rerun on Tuesday scored a .2
ANTM encore on Monday scored a .3

All other shows were summer shows. So a .2 for Nikita on Friday is fine.

Also, what do you guys think of Oh Sit! & Nikita on Fridays once the cycle of ANTM ends? I think it could work.

  • Michael

I didn’t realize so many people cared for reruns ratings lol…

  • Sid

“I didn’t realize so many people cared for reruns ratings lol”

Only one person on here does and that’s Dennis.

  • Sid

“Also, what do you guys think of Oh Sit! & Nikita on Fridays once the cycle of ANTM ends?”

At this point, a Nikita(R) could lead into a new Nikita for all I care. I just don’t want Top Model! Oh Sit would be better for sure but that has about 4 episodes left before it finishes its run.

Of all of CW’s summer shows, the only ones I see coming back are Oh Sit and The L.A. Complex. Remodeled, Breaking Pointe, The Catalina and The Next are all done IMO.

  • Michael

Sid, The Next and LA Complex are performing pretty much the same, though!

  • Martine

@ Dennis; Get a hobby, Seriously. I don’t really have any feelings for the many shows you constantly bash, but its just irritating to read your negativity. Its odd. Why do you get off on hating tv shows?

  • Martine

can someone explain just why the CW has such unwatched shows?i don’t understand why they don’t simply cancel most of them and try again.

  • Joseph

I suspect Univision topped the 18-34 and 18-49 numbers, and might have topped overall viewing as well.
