Continuing our night by night look at the Fall 2012 schedule we move to Thursday night.

Unlike Fall 2011, when The X Factor results show crashed into Thursday among a total of seven new shows, Fall 2012 scheduling changes seem minor, with the most noteworthy change being Two and a Half Men moving to 8:30.

At least early on I expect most interest will be for:

  • How does Two and a Half Men do at 8:30? Can it help put CBS on top the adults 18-49 ratings for the entire night?
  • How will the addition of Britney Spears and Demi Lovato change the ratings for The X Factor?
  • Will Last Resort be the next Lost? Or the next Missing / FlashForward?
  • Will Beauty And The Beast do better than The Secret Circle?
  • How will the other relocated veteran Glee do?
  • How low can NBC Go On "The Night Formerly Known As Must See TV?"

For a trip down memory lane, check out 2011-12's Thursday Fall schedule:

ABC: I love Shawn Ryan’s work, and Last Resort looks like the best new network show of the season – by far. Unfortunately, Thursdays at 8:00 has been a wasteland at ABC for years, and a high-concept show with a bold, risky, and probably unsustainable premise probably isn’t the cure. I’ll be watching all season, but I would consider it a success if the show can just do enough to get a full-season order and a chance to tie off the story in a satisfying fashion.

CBS: The move into the post-BBT slot should be enough to give Two and a Half Men life for at least another couple of years. Hooray. Elsewhere, Person of Interest has the chance to break out and become the network’s new tentpole if they play their cards right. Sherlock controversy aside, Elementary should do a solid number. CBS is in good shape here.

CW: Beauty and the Beast looks comically bad. The CW is running out of time to find a show worthy of the post-Vampire Diaries slot. Its ratings aren’t so much higher than the rest of their fare that they can afford to keep pissing away chances to find another flagship show.

FOX: Glee should do fine here, despite all the anxious hand-waving about shifting timeslots and shifting cast. Having said that, does anyone care anymore? It’s remarkable how quickly a show that aspires to live in the zeitgeist has fallen out of the public eye.

NBC: I love Parks and Recreation – it’s my favorite comedy on TV. Therefore, it pains me that NBC Thursdays have become such a disaster area. Two aging former hits in their final season in 30 Rock and The Office? A sophomore show that just barely scraped a renewal in Up All Night? Freaking Rock Center? The sinking tide lowers all boats. Parks and Rec is NBC-owned at will hit syndication numbers this season, but after that, it could be game over as NBC tries to ‘reinvent’ its comedy brand. A 13-episode final season and a move to the Community slot on Fridays might be the best we can hope for.

    @Person of Interest TV’S #1 NEW DRAMA

ps2 CBS are right for TV’S #1 NEW DRAMA, Ultima! PoI is with 15 million viewers per ep and Once ‘only’ 9 million. So most watched and popular therefore #1 new drama is PoI!

No they are not but they are young so OUAT is most popular drama with about 2 million young people more than PoI

  • Bob Jones

The Vampire Diaries (CW – Sappy, But Watched Whole Series so far), Last Resort (ABC), Grey’s Anatomy (ABC – Yes, I have watched the entire series, no reason to stop now), and The Main Event – You are a ‘Person of Interest’ (CBS) – Ben Linus + Jesus for the win!

  • Person of Interest – TV’S #1 NEW DRAMA

I hope CBS will give person of interest post super bowl slot. All depends from what CBS want – best ratings right now or look for the future. If they want best ratings now TBBT/TAHM will be the choice. Obvious comedy are new hot thing now. But with dramas so much in decline in last 5 years (for all networks) plus CBS aging dramas wise choice will be PoI. I mean they already start drama rotation – CSI miami is out, CSI NY in friday, TM in sunday and CSI in decline too. They all will be out this or next season. And with post super bowl slot PoI will be second anchor/pillar with NCIS for the next 10 years.

Not a chance pal and BTW you nickname is meaningless its not new no more it is in second season . The tvs number one new drama probably would be 666 PA or Revolution

  • Person of Interest – TV’S #1 NEW DRAMA

I like them both so i agree. But season start after 2 weeks.

And CBS use TV’S #1 NEW DRAMA in last PoI promo from 7 september:

  • steve

Im interested to see how Person Of Interest does now with a very good lead in hopfullly can TOP the mid 3s in adult 18-49 possible pushing 4s

  • One eye

Well it’s a CW kind of night.

  • addict

will be watch cbs comedies .. because i think the big bang theory is the funniest show on television (not modern family) beauty and a beast i will try. last resort i will try and im really excited for scandal. kerry washington is an amazing actress

  • Nicole

I love glee, but with it’s moved time slot, to the same time as The Office/Parc and Rec, and Grey’s Anatomy, Im not so sure I can watch it. All I know is they better deliver some good stuff or they will loose a viewer.

  • Jase

Vampire Diaries, the Office and Parks & Rec. Will give Last Resort a try too at some point.

  • RS

CBS – all night long. I have one show a night that is “must see” TV. Monday is Revolution (at least until it disappoints me). Tuesday is (I didn’t have one until tonight) New Normal. Wed. is SPN. Thursday is P of I. Friday is Grimm. Saturday is . . . nothing here. Sunday is (of course) Once.

For me, it looks like it’s going to “Last Resort” until it gets canceled, POI, and I think “Elementary” might be interesting.

  • Bookworm

I’m just happy for Scandal to be coming back on. That night will be ABC for me. I plan on seeing Last Resort and Grey is for sure and Scandal…well I freaking love Scandal and I “stan” very hard for that show. I have no numbers because we can’t tell but I hope Scandal is steady as always. They should see an increase from the finale but I think that all season, they will stay in the same range; they don’t seem to move much at all. Elementary will take the night because of the buzz and hate the show got but I think it will see a huge drop after the first two episodes or so. From there on, Scandal would probably win the night.

  • Person of Interest – TV’S #1 NEW DRAMA

I check new dramas position on facebook.(i mean likes) Surprise there:
    Vegas 88 194
    elementary 27 171

Now i start to think that Vegas is better option for CBS “super thursday” than elementary.(people really hate that after sherlock they do this. And not only that they do it but looks like bad copy)
