Continuing our night by night look at the Fall 2012 schedule we move to Tuesday night.  Six new shows on the night: four comedies and two dramas. Along with Wednesday, the night with the most new shows.

ABC  doesn't have any rookie shows, but pushes Dancing with the Stars results show an hour earlier, and moves in a 2nd and 3rd year sitcom from other nights to 9pm, followed by Private Practice in the place of Body Of Proof.

Fox launches a 2 hour live action sitcom block led by relative ratings weakling Raising Hope. I am not hopeful.

NBC brings The Voice results show into the Fall along with rookie sitcoms Go On (Matthew Perry vs. Happy Endings which was renewed over his last sitom, Mr. Sunshine) and The New Normal, joining Tuesday fixture Parenthood.

CBS launches new drama Vegas where Unforgettable failed last season. Les Moonves is predicting victory, but Les is always predicting victory.

The CW goes all medical on the night, as Hart Of Dixie moves to a new night and leads into the new series Emily Owens, M.D. Sadly, Emily is unlikely to be the traffic draw for us that Ringer was last season. Whether it will live longer or not, we'll have to wait and find out.

Take a trip down memory lane with last season's 2011 Tuesday Fall schedule:

Tuesday night will be an all comedy night for me. I will be watching Raising Hope, Ben and Kate, Happy Endings, Don’t Trust the B– in Apt 23, Go On, The New Normal, and maybe New Girl.

  • AustinGriffith

Now why would ABC put DWTS on at 8? It’s going to get crushed by The Voice and NCIS. ABC’s lineup on Tuesday was bad last year and will be even worse this year.

    I’m only watching NCIS.

  • Ricky

Poor, poor Raising Hope has to go against the NCIS powerhouse AND The Voice this time around. How sad. That said, I wish it the best. It’s not getting enough love from the network. Fox really needs to cut down the aggressive Mindy Project promotion, it’s been annoying me for months now.

  • Tony JJ

@AustinGriffith because why would ABC put their new comedy block at 8 and have it be crushed by The Voice and NCIS? It’s smarter to put a competition results show that will most likely get mid 2s-low 3s anywhere it goes than risking an already risky comedy block against two major tentpoles.

and I think it bodes well for ABC that their comedy block has a later start as Go On will definitely lose some steam by October and New Girl will definitely be down in numbers compared to the premiere, so perfect timing for Happy Endings and Apartment 23 to premiere!

When is BOP(Body of Proff) on?

  • Kyle7

Happy Endings, Apt. 23, New Girl, and maybe The Mindy Project.

  • Ricky

@a p garcia: I don’t think BoP comes back till midseason, and even then it’s only gonna be for 13 episodes. Which is okay for me ‘cos it gives me lots of time to start it up and catch up on it (which I’ll do as soon as I finish Kyle XY, probably by mid-October or so.)

  • RG-X

Raising Hope & Ben & Kate & Parenthood will be my shows for tonite…but I’ll have to find something to do until Parenthood comes on.

  • Ricky

@RG-X: Might I suggest NCIS: LA?

  • Nick

DWTS results (I just watch the results, the whole 3 hrs are really time-consuming), Ben & Kate, Go On, and The New Normal for me. Also, How to Live With Your Parents and The Goodwin Games in midseason. I love Raising Hope but didn’t catch season 2. When does the DVD come out?

    Ratings predictions!:

    DWTS Results: 2.7-3.3
    HE: 1.7-2.0
    Apt. 23: 1.5-2.0
    PP: 1.7-2.2

DWTS will be flat, and all the rest of the lineup will fail, and be gone by January.

    NCIS: 3.0-4.2
    NCIS: Los Angeles: 2.9-3.9
    Vegas: 1.8-2.5
    Vegas will fail.

    HOD: 0.7-0.8
    EO: 0.5-0.7

    RH: 1.9-2.4
    B&K: 1.8-2.2
    NG: 2.2-2.8
    TMP: 2.0-2.5
All the Fox comedies will come down to the wire for renewals.

    Voice Results: 2.9-3.5
    Go On: 3.4-4.1
    TNN: 3.2-3.6
    Parenthood: 1.7-2.6
The Voice will lose a little steam, but the comedies will do great, and Parenthood will get a nice boost.

    Networks-
    1. CBS: 3.1
    2. NBC: 3.0
    3. ABC: 2.3
    4. Fox: 2.2
    5. CW: 0.7

Who knows how this night will end up with all the new blood:

    1) What drugs was Fox on when they thought keeping an 8pm comedy block was a good idea?

    2) How low does ABC’s 9pm block have to go before they shuffle (DWTSR to 9 and/or LMS/MC)?

    3) Given how non-standard Vegas is (and how poorly the non-standard TGW did), how long does this last? Partial back order to get through Feb sweeps?

    4) How much of a halo will Voice Results have on GO and NN?

Personal Disclaimer: I plan on trying Vegas… but I don’t plan on it lasting long.

  • Nick

    @RG-X

If you like Raising Hope ans Ben & Kate, you’d like The New Normal.

  • Nick

    @Tom

    2) I don’t think ABC will move the Friday comedies to Tues. LMS was crushed by NCIS, and they seem to be trying for a two-hour TGIF block. Here’s what they should do come January:

    8: Last Resort (new time)
    9: Zero Hour
10: Private Practice (additional 6 episodes to wrap everything up)
When DWTS returns, everything gets pushed up 1 hr

    4) I think GO will grow from The Voice

  • Gustavo

    Must watch:Emily Owens and i will give a chance to:Ben & Kate.

  • Concerned Citizen

Holy balls, Tuesdays are busy. I’ll probably be watching the two hour block of comedy on Fox (the two new shows are supposed to be the best comedy pilots this year, and Raising Hope and New Girl are both solid) and then head on over to FX for Sons of Anarchy. Then I’ll have to watch Happy Endings, Apartment 23, Vegas, and Parenthood later on (and maybe Go On as well if I hear it’s made improvements). DAMN.

Most of the “future guessers” here, including the mods, said in the dog days of winter that “Unforgettable” was definitely dead and buried. CBS at first didn’t have in on the fall schedule in May. But, a few weeks, maybe a month tops, they announced the show is coming back in the summer of 2013. I think they realized they made a dreadful mistake by not bringing Poppy & Co. back. Proof that shows live on despite the “numbers.” The show WAS in the top 20 for total viewers anyway.

  • Raykov

Raising Hope, Happy Endings, Don’t Trust the B—- in Apt 23, Parenthood & Private Practice for me :)

  • Bee

so excited for tuesdays! def. watching PP, happy endings, and apt. 23, and trying out mindy, go on, new normal, and emily owens for a few episodes.
as painful as the wait is, i’m glad HE and apt. 23 are beginning late because the hype around all the other comedies will have settled by then. it all comes down to ABC’s promotion tho. if the promos are as annoying and unfunny as they usually are for these two, they’re in trouble.

my main wish for this night is that ABC’s comedies survive and PP concludes after 13 episodes because the show continuing without kate walsh is BS.

    @Tom
What drugs was Fox on when they thought keeping an 8pm comedy block was a good idea?

Best live action sitcom line up in seven years makes for some pretty good drugs!

  • Tyler

    @Nick

Probably a little low for HE (was doing that with no lead-in last year) and a little high for A23, but that should be about right.
