NBC has pulled the encore airings of their new sitcoms after next Thursday’s AGT finale. In their place, NBC will air… wait for it… a Chicago Fire preview!
Just kidding… they’re actually premiering Rock Center a week early. Awesome, right?
NBC wasting a big lead-in on that flop? Ugh, they should’ve previewed Chicago Fire. haha.
Actually its not a waste if Rock Center with Brian Williams is being kept at 10pm on Thursday. Rock Center is up against Scandal (ABC) & Elementary (CBS) so why not see if they can capture the balance of the audience not wanting to watch the Evening News via FOX or one of the two Dramas.
So in the end DNC more total viewers than NFL
DNC: 25,121,000 (ABC, CBS, CNN, Current TV, FOX News, MSNBC and PBS combined)
NFL: 23,890,000

Considering the game aired on a Wednesday night to be the third most watched kickoff game in history is impressive.
I’m going to be pissed if Chicago Fire doesn’t pull in decent numbers because of NBC’s inability to preview it behind a big lead-in.
At least this thread isn’t dominated by Drudge readers. I find it quite sad how their readership blindly follow and repeat partisan platitudes instead of engaging their critical faculties. Nice pay-day for their admins, though.
Replacing the sitcom repeats with Rock Center is odd and seems like a waste of a big lead-in. NBC’s priority should be getting their sitcoms to succeed.
Premiere of Rock center? It wasnt cancelled? I know it was on during the summer i just thought it was a burn off.
Rock Center wasn’t canceled, no. A news show should do well during an election year, so it isn’t totally stupid.
I don’t get why CBS and NBC waste these solid reality/competition shows during the summer doldrums. Big Brother would be a great Sunday 9pm lead out for Amazing Race when football is over and they could run it on Wed 8pm and have the evictions Fri 9pm. Would be a lot cheaper than the dramas delivering a 1.5-1.8. AGT should definitely be a Spring show too.
@alffan,
CBS tried BB during regular season (during the strike). It didn’t do all that well. Not cancelation-horrible, but certainly less than they could get with their regular fare.
Oh, and the dramas after Amazing Race weren’t getting 1.5s. Good Wife had a low of 1.7, but stayed around a 2 most of the season. Miami averaged slightly higher than a 2.
@Silvio
I’m not at all surprised the network ratings for the DNC were relatively low. They only showed it from 10pm onward and the coverage was terrible. Entirely too much snarky, partisan commentary drowning out the actual speeches. We checked it out briefly and then switched back to PBS.
Wow, Supernatural’s audience adjusted up a bit. That’s cool.
@John A, did you forget Rock Center was on NBC’s fall schedule for Thursdays at 10?

I dont watch much NBC shows so i dont know its schedule but yeah i assumed Rock Center was gone. They cancelled Fear Factor with ok ratings but renewed a ratings loser like Rock Center that is laughable.
So far it looks like Supernatural will be #1 in repeats on the CW even beating an original show on Monday.
