YEAH GH! Will be anxious to see what happens next. Obviously, Labor Day weekend impacted all the shows on Thursday and Friday. I noticed their SoapNet ratings were up also. Very good show lately. Completely destroying the Spew and GAA in all demos and ratings. Keep going GH!

  • animal

GH has been amazing!! Best soap for sure!

  • Stacy

GH had a great week last week. I watched both gh and days last week and i thought both soaps were good. Starting next week i will only be watching days since it and gh will be on at the same time. I have considered watching Y&R it comes on the hour before days. My mom watched Y&R when i was a kid and my grandmother still watches Y&R today.

Tuesday did excellent for Gh, 2.9 million! too bad Duke won’t be on again for another few weeks.

GH #2 Women 18 – 49!! WOW! LOVE all 4 remaining daytime dramas. I don’t really get the ratings rollercoaster from week to week. I always thought soap fans were loyal to the end to “their show” (though I’m a fan of all of them, GH is my MUST SEE DAILY). Next week’s ratings will be very interesting.

Here is a link to an interview I read with Frank Valentini on MSN today. Hope you find it interesting too

GH is doing what they should have started doing a long time ago. They need to take as many viewers to 2pm as possible, and then hold on to these viewers through the fall. GH has really been good the past couple of weeks. Unfortunately, as an OLTL fan and knowing how inconsistent RC’s writing can be, GH will probably crash and burn once the toxic water storyline is over and the ratings will probably go down. Also, ratings could potentially go down due to the timeslot switch. There will be people who will still look for GH at 3pm, despite all of the promotions and announcements.

Days needs to do the same thing, too, but I think the DAYSaster effect has started to wear off. Days didn’t gain anymore than 800,000-1 million viewers from the DAYSaster, so 200,000 is quite a significant chunk of that. Also, almost half of Days’ loss this week were viewers from the 18-49 demographic, which is never good.

Days and GH are not out of the woods yet.

  • Sophie

Yes I’m so glad about GH. It has been SOOOO good and It’s going to get better. Next week no more Days. GH is on at the same time and I’m loving it. Wasn’t Sami and EJ on last week? Ratings slide big time. They say they go up cuz of EJAMI so they must have not been on. Love Jerry Jax, Anna, Luke, Heather, the whole show!!!!

  • James

^_^ OH MY GOSH YES YES YES.

  • David

Wow awesome job GH. #2 in the important female 18-49 rating! This is great news, shows people are finally tuning back in to the awesome show it has once again become. This is exactly what they need going into the time slot shift. This weeks shows were so good too that the ratings should be even better! Great job by Ron C., Frank V., and the great cast of GH! People are finally tuning in to see the great show you have become once again! I am sure the normal “haters” will still complain etc but these numbers don’t lie! Way to go GH woooooooo!

  • Sean

GO GH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! KEEP WATCHING GUYS…GH IS THE BEST SOAP ON AIR! ITS GONNA BE ANOTHER ACTION PACKED WEEK IN PORT CHARLES NEXT WEEK AT 2:00PM EST ON ABC!!! WATCH GH!

  • Richard

I think GH made a big mistake by showing Duke one day and then waiting 5 weeks to show him again.

Obviously people saw him on Monday and tuned in Tuesday for follow up and got nothing. Then the ratings fell off. It may have had something to do with Labor Day and people leaving, but to the general audience they didn’t know what was going on as many don’t read spoilers or anything.

Hopefully for the fans of the show they can hold on to some of these viewers.

I always find the GH ratings interesting. If they gain in Women 18-49 they lose in Men. If they drop in 18-49 women they gain in Men. They can’t seem to get that one together.

  • MBmomof3

I’d like to add, I am enjoying all 4 soaps very much right now and won’t have to choose between GH & DOOL thanks to SOAPNet and ABC.com.

Chrisann, Hi and congrats on the good news for you and your hubby. I’m very happy for you. As a lifelong Midwesterner myself, there is alot to love, and no place like home. That said, I could live without the brutal winters. They don’t call Lambeau Field the “Frozen Tundra” for nothing. LOL! The funny thing is, my husband & I are considering retiring to TN (many years from now) to escape the looooong winters. But we live in the middle of a state forest, many beautiful inland lakes and recreation around and Lake Michigan minutes away. Can’t complain(except for the politics).

I wonder where Dave.A has been? We rarely agreed on anything, but I miss his insight.

  • Sean

TOTALLY AGREE WITH DAVID!!!! GO GH!!!

  • Richard

Mom, Glad to see you back.

I have been missing Dave A too.

  • MBmomof3

Pinkle, I agree about viewers not knowing about GH timeslot move. Of course, we know all about it, but it shocked me when AMC & OLTL went off the air how many viewers were asking “Where is my soap?” I thought “Were you living under a rock these past many months?” But I guess if you don’t read much or go online you might not know. Hopefully ABC did an adequate job during GH airing, but if you FF you still might not know.

  • Richard

Another thing that is weird about the ratings that I have noticed. If GH goes up in the last year it seems Days goes down. If Days is up GH tends to go down just like last week.

Last week was really funny, all the shows were up and it was down. This week it is up and all the other shows are down.

    Soap opera ratings are weird.

  • MBmomof3

Hi Richard, just super busy time of year, but I am anxious to keep up on the ratings. It’s been so interesting, but I do think we are embarking on The Crazy Train in the coming weeks & months! Buckle up!

  • diana

Looks like the “big surprise” on GH lured people in .. I know I watched that Monday, and there was a lot of excitement surrounding Duke Lavery, he trended on Twitter, we were talking about it on Facebook .. the next day was the highest rated day that week. But since nothing exciting happened on Tuesday, the next three days not as many people tuned in. That’s my take, anyway.

  • Richard

    Mom,

If people watch like I do for instance on You Tube then you miss all those promos for the timeslot change. I don’t see any commercials on the videos I watch on You Tube as the person cuts them all out.

And many people watch on DVR and do the same but their DVR if set right should automatically catch the time change anyway.

  • Stacy

    @Diana

That is the problem with gh they bring in a big surprise to get the viewers to watch but then they drop it and go onto another story for several weeks before they come back and finsih the story. A lot of people quit watching because they get tired of waiting for the story to come back. Just like the Robin story we are still waiting for her to come back.

    @mbmomof3

You are right i could DVR gh and still watch both gh and days, but i have never been good at watching what is on my DVR. I have several shows on my DVR now that i have never watched. I have decided to let gh go and read daily recaps to see what is going on. I will miss gh i have watched it since 1995.
